This game has not been Re-Review in more than 2years(23 july 2009). In this time the game has got a huge uppgrade, in content(two expantions including the one this week), new and improved gameengine and with the game going freemium july they now hav gone from 100k player to about 400k. MMORPGs rate is 7.0 and games are 7.9, there is a huge gap.
Cant find any big AAA MMORPGs with a bigger negative difference in score. Here are some of the Biggest MMORPGs:
Lotro mmorpg rating 8,5 minus players rating 8,2 = 0,3 higher rating than games
EVE mmorpg rating 8,5 minus players rating 8,1 = 0,4 higher rating than games
AION mmorpg rating 8,7 minus players rating 7,8 = 0,9 higher rating than games
Rift mmorpg rating 8,7 minus players rating 8,4 = 0,3 higher rating than games
Sow most games here get higher scores by mmorpg than the player. AoC has a rating from mmorpg of 7 and gamers give them 7,9 that is a negative difference of 0,9. Sow a game like AiON score 1,7 higher than AoC at mmorpgs rating, but the gamers gives AoC a higher score.

400,000 players? That is 100,000 per server! The number of players looks to have dropped back to around 70,000 total though probably because the review score is beyond fair and the forums are not blowing up with AoC hype. I played all of those MMOs listed and there is way more stuff to do in each. However, I would strongly disagree that Age of Conan is triple A today. After playing over the summer it seems like a low budget MMO that you can gear up but then there is nothing to do. Someone wrote that AoC is like a pretty blonde that looks pretty but has no substance. For a three-year-old MMO most would expect more. The other games you listed are all pretty good and have tons of players so just hope Funcom doesn't botch TSW. AoC would be good if polished, class balanced, combat mechanics tweaked, PvP mini's reworked, PvP gear and progression redone, shrines of boring cut, cross server lfg and mini game added, I like guild war's arena and play them every week but if can't add that just add something as meaningful. The game is mostly a PvE game so a better lfg system, better methods of gaining gear, more places to group so more raid and dungeon content and even world group content. My guild died over the summer because they were bored of doing the same instances for years so stopped and also raids and the solo daily quests gave better gear anyway plus the guild leader said that since the expansion people have been leaving so they could not muster enough for T3 anymore.
Why are you so hyped about BOTH Funcom games?
Just to point out.. they have 400,000ish players login during July. That was basically just a ton of people who wanted to see what the free2play was about. People like me who never had any intention of really playing or ever spending money, but could waste a few hours revisiting some of my toons. Every indication is that server populations are back down to about what they were in June. There was no revival like happened in DDO, instead it is more like EQ2....
Funcom made some ´sucker´ money by opening a new pvp server, and then right away selling I-win pvp gear in the cash-shop.
This is from the q2 from a week ago:
During July, the revenues from the game were more than doubled, and the day-to-day revenues are still almost double of those before the launch of the free- to-play model. The change in business model has also resulted in higher subscription numbers
Sow if there revenues are still almost the doble from day to day, They have more than 70k players. As they had 100k before going freemium. And i think you both missed my point.
Point one the game has not been re-rewird in two years and there is a huge gap between the gamers score and mmorpg. And my i would like to know if they should do new review of the game.
What you are telling med are that there is not many players playing the game and the once that ar playing are stupid.
As long as the re-review is right before a big patch so everyone can bitch and say the re-review should have waited for the big patch.
It's a proven historical fact that beer saved humankind.
THEY HAVE NOT DONE A RE-REVIEW IN MORE THAN TWO YEARS!
DO YOU UNDERSTAND! :P
Yea, were looking at you FFXIV. lol
Calm down my friend...Its okay. You win the internets. I will contact the editor of mmoprg.com and authorize a re review of this game. Just give me some time man. =D
The Secret World Beta Rise of the God Slayer....... Longest name ever and I'm out.
I don't understand because the expansion was reviewed a year ago and got an 8.5 but most players hate the expansion. Stam issues, repeatable quest, bugged raid bosses, it got boring fast for me a year later and my guild leader said nothing much came out all year since and that is why so many people left. The off line leveling and the pay to win AA point pots were a big turn off.
I was going to play four years ago when it released because the review scores where high but the forums and people in my WoW guild said it was a bad game. When I was buying the game at amazon.com the score was 3 out of 5 and metacritic is 7.2 from players. The XP pots and level 5 PvP gear on the new PvP server made pay to win money but if they claim 400,000 players played then the mass exodus is blowing my mind and is perhaps the most telling review that AoC needs improvements to raise to the standards of Rift, Aion, LOTRO, Eve, and I like guild wars as millions an millions play that.
What grinds my gear is AoC is lacking so much content and polish compared to the games you listed and also players. Instead of working on the game the company just works on ways to make people pay more money for the same fish bowl game when they should have created a lake like the other MMOs.
The reviewed of an expansion do not affect the game score. I really do not understand what all this trolling is about.
I am not asking what you think about the game ore if any of the other games are any better.
OK SLOWLY NO PLEACE READ THIS;
Why is there a huge score deviation between games and this old re-review?
You say that gamers hate this game, it suck, but infact the gamers give a lot higher score than mmorpg.com that gives most games higher score than the gamers.
Funny mister
I don't understand the trolling but I understand why a fan of both age of conan and TSW beta would want a rereview. A fan of a game or two never played, is strange. Rereview if you want, just leave the advertising to Funcom.
The answer to your question is easy! I will first answer it with another question. Why are the player reviews so much higher here than any other site? MMO players dedicated enough to go to MMO sites should be more critical. Also, why are there 600,000 to 2,000,000 more players in the other games you listed if the players reviewed AoC and those games then gave the same score to all?
I read some of them and the players never made it out of Tortage http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/191/view/reviews/load/61 so is already a review. The second part is likely many of the 1/10 failcom post got deleted otherwise the player score would match the other websites. We both know losing over 300,000 players last month is not a good sign ;p *Spoiler* I looked it up and the 400,000 players was from three years ago.
Go ahead and rereview the game, is just a bit strange you compare AoC to four games doing well in your opening post, I spent three months playing AoC over the summer and it isn't even close so a 6 or 7 is a pretty realistic score.
Hey man, I am a fan of alot of games including AO/AOC/TSW/WOW/EVE/RIFT. I am trying to keep this at facts, and you cant keep to the fact at all, and we both know it. As I sayid Funcom has still on a day to day basis dobbed there income from before freemium, sow there are alot of players. And as you know they had 400k players in june and still has most of these player today. In q2 last week they say we still have almost doubble ower income on a dag to dag basis. An theres this artikkle that saw how many players they had in june. This is all fact.
This month the greatest fantasy hero of all time is truly making his triumphant return to the spotlight. Not only is the premiere of the upcoming Hollywood revival, ‘Conan the Barbarian’, less than two weeks away, Conan is also breaking new grounds in the massively multiplayer online gaming universe. After going free-to-play roughly a month ago, over 300,000 new players have now charged the fields of Hyboria in ‘Age of Conan: Unchained’.

More than 2mil has tryed the game. Sow this not a smal MMORPG. I am not saying this is a brilliant game ore any better than any other game. People are all different, som like trying games out, and when they are free it is a nobrainer for me. Some dont like a game and cant stop talking about it. We are all different, and thats whats good about life.
Facts. Funcom goofed up a translated word. 300,000 players is what they said and they meant accounts. I made three accounts because I needed to store stuff and gold with all the limitations. I'm sure they doubled income by selling pay to win items on the new server but that is short lived and will drive people away.
You can't claim that most people stayed, that is not a fact. I can't claim tht most left either but what is the point.
It would be cool if AoC had over 100,000 players as then the forums would get hyped and more people would join so the people working on Conan can fix the game and add stuff to do which would in turn entice more people to play and more importantly stay.
I'm glad you love the game so much you come here and bash anything negative about it but the game has issues and I was curious to know when Funcom will fix them.
Quote from link"“The activity levels on the servers are booming with a fourfold increase in players during July" . Fourfold means you have fourtimes the number of players as before. They had 100k before and four times that is 400k.
100kx4 =400K
As they say there are 300k NEW player.
400k-100k= 300k new players.
Is it realy that hard. As i wrote the 26 of august Funcom wrote in q2 that the income fromAoC is almost the doubblet on a day to day basis, sow most of these 300k player are stil playing ore the other players are paying alot more for playing.
I said it would be awesome if 100,000 plus players played and you would love it as then there is mad hype on forums about the game. There would be PvP mini games and it would be easy to find players in game to group up for the few old grouping zones. Lol I guess your the only other person on this forum, so yup the game is popular. Could you link the 100,000 players number because that seems way to high.
Server activity went up four fold means what? It means the people who ran out of stuff to do so never played or only logged on a couple of minutes but had sub came back and played more and also means some people tried out the game. Four fold server increase seems real low when so many old players went over to the new PvP server.
Id like a new review.
I had read that the free version is extremely limiting. Or that its not worth it. Id like to hear more about whether it is or not.
Along with that Id like to see a current review of the general game altogether.
I jumped back in to give this game another shot...
I forget the limits on the free version of the game. Pretty sure you only have 4 (or very few) of the classes available to play among other limits i'm sure.
I quit shortly after taking a look at their item shop. The prices were really high. I compare it to something like Everquest 2's shop. In EQ2 you can buy potions for 50 cents. Weapon/Armor for dollar or two... Full sets for cheap pretty cheap.
AoC I recall being upwards of 5 dollars for individual armor or weapons.
I've probably dumped 150 dollars into EQ2 leveling and having fun.
AoC I dumped likely 50 dollars into getting my expansions up-to-date and playing with the shop a bit... I feel ripped off and didn't get much enjoyment out of it.
Long story short....
AoC doesn't have enough of anything to really keep you interested. I think the main attachment for most players in MMO's is the feeling or idea that they'll be playing for months/years to come. In AoC you get the feeling you might waste a few days at best. And won't return often enough to justify the time/money spent.

All PVE content in the game is free(exsept the onece connected to the expantion), and yes there is 4classes. If you have the PC to run the games install it and run it.
