EVE Online: A Blood Red Storm

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

In the latest edition of One Jump Home, MMORPG.com columnist and EVE Online Council of Stellar Management member, Ross McDermott, has once again penned an excellent article about the latest happenings in the EVE Online world. It's a great read and takes on recent events involving Russian alliances and more. Keep reading!

Militarily, the Russian bloc has once again kicked off a monstrous internal squabble that sees Triple A and Stainwagon, formerly a collective power-bloc involved in a fist-fight with Legion of xXDEATHXx and Solar Fleet. This isn't unusual, the Russian houses have long been at war with one another, and never have they all seen eye to eye. Once the technetium fields in the North were secured, the forces of RaidenDOT, NCDOT and WhiteNoise more or less immediately deployed to the South to begin a campaign of pain against the collective southern Russian forces.

I don't play EVE, but this is by far the most interesting column mmorpg.com has right now.

And as always, "Winter is Coming."

    Nice one :)

Loved your summary of the current political situation.  I'm currently inactive in Eve, but when I was playing I've allways wondered about those Russians.  Great to read a bit about that illustrous blob of cyrrilic named ships.

Great article, good read.  Finally registered myself here at mmorpg.com to post this comment.  I also makes me want to reactivate my eve-account . ^.^

    Currently playing: Skyrim, SWTOR
Looking forward to: Guildwars 2 ! modestly excited for: The Secret World
Have played intensely: Rift, Eve, AoC, WoW, Conquer 2.0, Astonia 3
Have played less intensely: just about everything else

A very interesting article. It's subject matter is also the reason I left. Too many big corporations and alliances. It seems too much like real life (which I'm sure EVE's playerbase loves) with giant corps controlling mostly everything, while smaller start up corps never even get mentioned. I like the freedom involved, but I'm not interested in working my way up the corporate ladder in a video game. I keep wanting to come back, but without a way to gain control of about 1/4 of the galaxy in 6 months time (And without a way to avoid mining - i HATE mining), I don't see it happening. Guess I'll just wait for SWTOR

  • Great article. Fun read.

I used to be in an Alliance that was at war with Red Alliance and yeah...we got fucked, hard. Those russian guys are really good at EVE. They are very organized and seems like they have a lot of free time, camping systems and gates, baiting and hot dropping.....24/7

haha I want to reactivate my account too reading this.

Nice article, but again, written from the perspective of the minority.   Only a quarter of the population actually wars in 0.0,  CCP cannot afford to be bowing to all their priorities.  While the wars are interesting, until CCP fixes large scale combat to require significant smaller support ships, they will remain just for a small portion of the population.

is there still a monocle shop in EVE?

Maybe a map would be helpful because I have no idea who any of these people/groups/alliances/clans are. Then again I never played EvE longer than the trial period so I suppose I'm not the target audience of this article...

Articles like this make me want to love this game, but I have tried 3 trials now, and subbed once...and still, just do not enjoy playing this game. I know, I know, find a corp, learn to mine etc. The problem for me, is this game is just too damn much work to play. I do not have the time or energy to dump into this game, and like an ad, this game never feels as cool as it sounds on paper to me...

It is your wrong advice making it work to you, not the game itself.

You do not need corp, you do not need to mine. Just do what you find entertaining, exlpore the game.

thanks for the article, but i am just unsubscribing from eve, due to lack of development, corruption , and the game base comunity full of scammers and griefers

tired of eve, the most overated game ever, is all text, no voice overs , no fmv, 8  years running, is pathetic, lots of people are leaving and being replaced by noobs, they gamne hasnt grown in numbers in the last 5 expansions
