I wonder why Pokemon until this days are still popular, hmmm.. I do remember that pokemon was released at 1998 if i can recall and i was still a child that time. Unlike now im an adult and a graduate. I still do hear about pokemon and me myself was once a pokemon addict a way way back. Now i've seen new pokemons series, games and more. Way back before there 150 pokemons and now woooosh!!! i think it now 450+.
So Guys why is pokemon so popular? Gimme your opinions.

"I wanna be the very best like no one ever was. To catch them is my real test to train them is my cause...I will travel across the land searching far and wide, Teach Pokemon to understand the power thats inside!!!! Pokemon!"
"In the immediate future, we have this one, and then weve got another one that is actually going to be so were going to have, what we want to do, is in January, what were targeting to do, this may or may not happen, so you cant hold me to it. But what were targeting to do, is have a fun anniversary to the Ilum shenanigans that happened. An alien race might invade, and they might crash into Ilum and there might be some new activities that happen on the planet." ~Gabe Amatangelo
The gameboy Pokemon games were fun but reptitive. The actual card game quick and fun. The cartoon sucked butt zits.
***Kills Picachu with very soiled plunger!***
All my opinions are just that..opinions. If you like my opinions..coolness.If you dont like my opinion....I really dont care.
Playing: ESO, WOT, Smite, and Marvel Heroes
That sums it up.
Kids ranging from Kindergarten to Seventh grade like pokemon. Not all might I add. Pokemon became famous with its original concept and plot base. Kids loved them in the 90s and today. As the show continues kids that are still young and don't know that well become accustomed to it really quickly.
Pokemon has been running since maybe 1995 or 1996. Over ten years maybe a sign that it will top when it finishes its final saga which should be completed in maybe one year or two. Or it might make history and continue for a couple more decades but I don't completely agree with that conjecture since the directors and producers are getting old.
Hope I helped at least a bit!
The basic premise of the game is pretty cool: it's an RPG where you can fight as any character in the game. Not just fight against any character, but fight as any character. So if you fight against something with an attack sequence that you think is totally unfair, you can play as that character and use the same attack sequence.
A weaker version of the same principle was Guild Wars 1 before ArenaNet went nuts with PVE-only skills and monster skills. You could use nearly all of the same skills as mobs did, so if you saw mobs doing something that you thought was unduly effective, you could get the same skills and do it yourself.
Pikachu is an Electric-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I.
It evolves from Pichu when leveled up with high happiness, and evolves into Raichu when exposed to a Thunderstone.
Pikachu is popularly known as the mascot of the Pokémon franchise and a major representative of Nintendo's collective mascots.
It is the version mascot of Pokémon Yellow, where it is the only starter Pokémon in that game, and has made numerous appearances on the boxes of spin-off titles.
..I think Pikachu is the main reason why pokemon is so popular until now. Pikachu nailed it seriously.
Because you like it when you're young but when you get older it's lame so little kids like it, but once they're older they won't anymore, while the kids in their generation will it's just like with power rangers. Thats how it goes and i think the pokemon would live forever and be a bench mark for gaming and series, loeved by kids.
I've actually played a few of the pokemon games, most recently I've replayed a few on my phone (emulator) and they are just really solid RPGs.
Sometimes they have puzzles, mini-games, and a very thorough strategy between the types, strengths, weaknesses, and so on.
The problem most people have (myself included) is that it SEEMS childish (and it is) and mostly embarassing to be older than 14 and still play... but at the heart of the game, its a fantastic RPG with all the elements that make the most popular traditional RPGs great. A real testament to the turn based genre.
Well, thats why the games are popular anyways, I don't know how the cartoon became popular, or whatever other kinds of merchandise is out there for it. I would imagine for the same reason Hello Kitty has its own online game now though....
I enjoy the games. They have systems in the game that make it a little more in depth than people think, like fighting certain pokemon with your pokemon raise certain stats during a level up, so if you want to build them for certain fights you can potentially do that for anything. Plus your team could be anything pretty much, and each pokemon could learn different skills based on type, with different stats than another one. So it's pretty much limitless, and that is what made me so into it. I own one of the DS ones, and I find it pretty fun. Even though I used to play the originals back in grade school.
Ive never played it but I assume its a darn good card game. Teaches math, strategy, and teamwork to kids. But its probably popular because its a good card game. Having not played it, its all I can assume.
I did play Magic: The Gathering some. Still do. I do it because its just a good fun card game, with a little imagination put into it.
Well, Pokemon is kinda a rip off from Magic, one of the few successful. The original is better.
But the reason it is so succesful is because humans are coded to collect stuff, we just can't help ourselves.
Kinda the same reason so many people are addicted to looting stuff in MMOs. Add an acceptable card game to it and you have a hit. The guy behind Minecraft is working on a collective strategy game right now.
... there are a lot of 20+ year olds who enjoy Pokemon.
And developing a solid competitive team can take a lot of time and planning. And yet the game can be simple enough for people to just run through it without thinking of natures, traits, ivs, evs, attrib, moves and egg moves, breeding, etc.
While not as super in depth as say, X-Com could be, it still holds quite a bit of depth if you care to look for it.

I enjoyed the first 3 versions that came out, but the 4th and 5th generation feel a bit off; like they're now just pulling out pokemon designs from their butts. yet, i still love it and i've played since the first generation came out and still am playing the new ones. The thing that keeps me playing is probably training and building new teams to try. It feels similar to trying to create a unique character in an mmo i guess.
I enjoy playing it because its like your having a pet to grow on, more like a tamagotchi. Its papular cause its cute, have lots of lively colors, easy to play and lots of fictional chuby animals. Its a general patronage game thats why people play it.
Correct me if i'm wrong but one interesting fact is that there is no pokemon clone.....shows how strong it is. I also wonder how it'll port to MMO, god forbid.
You can tell Pokemon was one of the best Ideas to come out of Japan, the world over people still love it, including myself.
I just hope that one day they explode the option of an MMORPG based on the game.
And I mean a real production one, the fanmades are nice and all but ya know
Building and training teams is what I enjoy it for. In Pt I developed an all Fighting-type team that handled itself decently. I was most proud of my Hitmonlee which just wrecked Psychic types.
I got every pokemon collected on fire, red, yellow, gold, silver, crystal, ruby and sapphire versions.
Have a GBA and some other one to trade pokemons and what not, I was a total nut about this stuff up to when I was 14.
"I am not a robot. I am a unicorn."
Where have you been? theres been plenty of pokemonesque games, the reason you dont see a down right clone is because theres nothing to the game, run around doing random battles and trainers with the cities named after trees and a bunch of stupid animals.
Apparently stating the truth in my sig is "trolling"
Sig typo fixed thanks to an observant stragen001.
Because they cut out all the violence in the Tom & Jerry cartoons until all you're left with is cat chases rat. Same thing for the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote.
