Only if there is a big enough market for it.

Apparently not.
Nope it will be PC only
Who plays on a mac anyways
tell me about it :P
With the new Macs basically being standardized Intel-based PCs running the Apple OS, I think most Mac gamers who want to play modern, resource demanding games just dual boot their machines into a Windows install. I think that's a big reason that Mac support has declined. The serious gamers who still decide to own a Mac instead of a PC mostly don't need a dedicated Mac version.
It's too bad, because I know a couple people who might reeally like GW2, but I'm not sure that they have ever felt the need to add Windows Gaming capability to their set up. There will be some potential audience that will be lost due to the lack of the port, but it comes down to cost vs. benefit. Also, I don't think the ANet team even wants to think about having to develop for a second platform.
If NCSoft felt that it would make them more profit, I might be able to see them offering to fund a conversion team, but I'm not sure if there are Mac versions for any of the other current NCSoft published MMOs, so that may not be a realistic hope for Mac fans.

"The serious gamers who still decide to own a Mac..."
This, sir, is a contradiciton.
"Sometimes people say stuff they don''t mean, but more often then that they don''t say things they do mean"
I know you can boot windows, but as i said it's not myn.... And i dont think my friend will want to... Because his a Mac user and knows nothing of Computers.
But yeah thanks for the Answers.
GW1 runs perfectly on Crossover, so if GW2 is really based on the same engine, it might work too. BootCamp is of course always a fall-back option.
There is no way they are using the same engine. It may have similar aspects (part of being designed by the same people) but in no way does that mean that crossover will work with GW2 just because it works with GW1.
In the end, GW2 probably will never get a mac client, but I don't think that it is all that silly for mac users to bring this up every time a new game rolls around. Apple is great (maybe a bit over pirced) but people keep using them. I think the REAL reason we will not see many games on macs is because of apple, who could inscentivize game developers to produce for their OS, which could potentially increase the demand for macs...or not...many gamers want the most bang for their buck and thats not really what apple sells.
nobody expects Anet to go out of their way to produce a mac client or even a universal client for GW2.
So...wine programs and booting windows is really all we have to work with.
I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote.
The engine has been severly modified of course, but supposedly it's based on the GW1 engine. Yes, that is not a guarantee it'll work with CO, but it's a good start.
I don't think it's Apples job to incentivize game development on Mac.
If you look at the anonymus user statistics that Valve got through the Steam client, you see that Mac users are already spending more money per person on game purchases. Combine that with a market that has less competition (especially in the MMO genre), and the significantly smaller development cost of porting an existing client.
I don't think lack of incentive is the issue here. If you follow developer conversations about this topic, it rather seems to be a lack of programmers with the specific skills.
Not quite. Someone can be a serious gamer who owns a PC, and also own a Mac separately.
More seriously, if Guild Wars 2 ends up being as successful as WoW has been, then ArenaNet will probably decide that there's enough of a market to justify porting it to Mac. But for the overwhelming majority of games that use DirectX, the cost of a separate Mac version is too expensive for what little extra business it brings you.
Haha this made me laugh! I honestly don't know one gamer who plays games on a mac. And i've never seen a mac on a lan party either.
Are you implying angry birds is not a serious game?

I7 and Radeon Hd6750
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
Just to be a smartass
Pc does not mean Windows. The only thing there faq tell us it's that it will not come on console. I could run OSX, Linux, BSD, DOS, ect on a PC.
But sadly, no, there will be no native client of GW2 for Mac
And for Hardcore gamer on Mac, there would be a tons of then if people where doing game for it. Sadly, game maker like directx too much and code too badly to make game on other platform.
Or no real gamer wants to buy a mac because they are very limited to upgrade........Just saying
"I am not a robot. I am a unicorn."
Could be a reason, but in that case they would all be on Linux, since they would be able to strip down the os to the bare necessity and get more bang for there buck
wine says hi!!!

Once agian, this prooves to me why im never going to get any from of Apple products. You baiscly can't do any other than playing a narrow window of games or choose to use the browser. I dont understand why people would use so much money for a computer, mobile phone that has so little opportunitys. You can buy computers, that have simular specs for significant lesser ammounts of money.
My son. The day you were born the very staff of Blizzard whispered the name, profit.
Because they don't get stuck or slow down to a snail's pace for heavy users after 2 years (I'm being optimistic here). Also the touchpad functionality is a dream for anyone who has to crossreference a lot, which is why in the average university social science department the majority gets them these days. I was a top notch user of windows, but even with my constant maintenance it took me 30 minutes to get a website loaded from start up after 2 years and a half. I could not afford that when I had 72 hours to finish a 20 page paper which entailed a 1200 pages of collected reading. Same age in my Mac now, and still got speed going, with battery life to boot!!!
As for games, dual booting is extremely easy unless you can't install Windows on any PC. It's also been shown that in dual boot, equally equipped Windows laptops are outperformed by Macs running Windows. I can tell you for a fact that was true for Dragon Age. That's what you get when your parts are completely tuned to each other.
For most low- to mid-end games, Parallels is also a good way to play. Just opens a Windows screen in your Mac OS X and game on.
Format and clean install?
Only a mad person would let windows run for 2 years without formatting.
Anyway, i have a macbook for my travelling and university needs, a kindle to download all my uni books rather than buying them 70€ a piece or having to print them, and then a top notch gaming rig at home with windows and linux, windows for games only, and linux for browsing and chatting.

Hahaa, try surfing other pages than cupertino mind control pages. Macs are just PCs crippled by Apple motherboard design. All other stuff is same so speed is same between equal components, only difference is price. You just pay extra for badge, like you pay when you buy VW instead of Skoda. And all that other junk you wrote might been case back in XP era but hardly anymore. Why GW2 isn't for Macs, same reason why LoL(League of Legends) dropped it, 5% market share.
a % of a what 15 % market?dont think arenanet will botter with the idea at lauch ,maybe when they re bored and have less to do they ll dev for mac but for now at launch they ll go with where their main market share is and expend to all language first!just in china alone that would bring huge amount of player, and i bet not many in china are mac user!
