Possibly returning - a few questions

Hey all, I first purchased the game in beta and played about a month before unsubbing. I had rl issues and it just felt like I had played this game before. I wasn't one of those people running around yelling OMG WOW CLONE BEGONE but the game just simply did not draw me in. Today I took a look at game ratings on here and rift was at the top and it is making me consider rejoining. Couple questions though.

1. Is the population still fairly strong? I've been playing darkfall a little bit lately so ihop at 3 am might be a decent pop to me lol.

2. Since I didn't get to a very high level - how is the end game content? Entertaining and fun?

3. Have the 4 updates added a lot of new content? If so what.

4. Is pvp challenging?

5. Do you like pie? :)

I'm at work for 14 more hours and did this on my phone during a break. Otherwise I would look a lot more. -Thank you for your time.

Yes, games that I play to pass the time should be time-consuming. That's why I play them.

    1. Population is fairly strong, that being said. The community in game is one of the worst I have experianced in my 14 years of MMOing. Not that they are rude, actually far from it. This stems more from the fact of how over solo friendly the game is. Even in the massive Rift events, that can be alot of fun. Socializing is non existant in this game unfortunately. Hit and run groups are the norm.  People auto joining and auto leaving without so much as a hello or a good bye. People will say start up conversation. Which I personally always try to do. People however in RIFT just seem like they are always to busy to worry with trying to be socialable. I like my games more like Vanguard or EQ2 or Everquest, or Aion, That promotes group play over solo play. Personal preference i am sure.

    2. End game content can be ALOT of fun. If you join a good guild. Getting to the end game is a lonely solo affair for the most part read answer 1 again as to the reason why. Also on top of that they are doing world events regularly. I give kudos to the dev team for continuing to pump out some quality content. Some of the raids in this game can be fairly complex. You must remember though this is a new game. It will take time to get ALOT of content. But the Devs are top notch in this department. Lets see if it stays that way.

    3. Can be really answered along with number 2.

    4. PVP can be pretty fun Granted I played a Necro Lock as my main.. I could destroy people in PVP so that made it even more fun.

    5. I like pie.

I will close in saying. I will most likely be closing my account with RIFT personally. While it is a great looking game, with alot of polish and grade A  development team. The gamer community and mentality at large in the game of solo is king really just kind of annoys me. While there have been a few cool people I have met in my time in RIFT. I can honestly say In the last 4 or 5 months of me playing I have made less friends in this game than any other previous game, in the same amount of time. If i wanted to play a solo oriented game I would have bought one to begin with. Which i actually did, Space Marine here I come. Well as soon as i get my new laptop  thats shipping  from new egg as i type.

Another thing that killed me is the new patch system they installed. I dont play from home but over my USB wireless Modem. While most people seemed to like the new smaller patches more frequently, for a person like me who plays over a wireless cell connection this had lead to 30 minute downloads every other night. I work 70+ hours a week Really alot more than that. Thats just what I log. Having to sit 30 minutes every other night to patch when I dont get stopped till late and after a 14 hour day just doesnt fit my schedule. I want to be able to park flip on the power and play not park flip on the power and sit and wait to play. If i was at home on my real broadband (not wireless) this might be different. Because a 30 minute patch for me takes 2 or 3 minutes for people on broadband.
