There is a HUGE power outage in southern california atm.  Majority of San Diego County,  parts of orange county as well.  SOE does have 2 huge generators outside the server building to help power down game servers IF NECESSARY in case of emergencies like this.

I understand this, but if SOE stays shut down for 2-3 Days after the getting hacked fiasco, it will ruin there reputation even more then it has been ruined. People pay to play there games, if they are known for keeping there servers down non stop people wont want to play there mmo's at all.

This is beyond there control however it does throw a wrench into my plans a little since I just returned and was enjoying EQ2, oh well though i'm sure SoE will give u the extra day either way.

It is NOT SOE's fault the power is down.   To blame them for this and then use the old and worn out argument "We pay to play on their servers" is not only inappropriate in this situation,  its comical.

I was able to play a bit ago just fine, then couldn't talk to any vendors in EQ2.  Tried a relog and half my characters were gone, two of them said offline, and the one that was online that I wanted to play said the zone was down.

    Guess I'll play EVE!

Cant judge for the other prodcuts but DCuo is running just fine

The pathetic part is SOE has failed to communicate anything to its subscribers. Par for the course. The level of SOE's ineptitude when it comes to customer service never surprises me.

Kind of odd, I could log into EQ2 and only one character was on an "offline" server, and I had no problems interacting with npc's or other players.  However, on EQ the non EU servers were down, and when I tried to log into Vanguard it waited for server data for 5 min before i closed it.  So EQ2 seems to be ok, and everything else spotty?

Its not beyond there control. The local food store has back up power why does a company the size of Sony not?

But I'm sure it was Sony's fault the power went out.  It was their greed that shut the whole system down!  They were likely trying to steal the electricity and overloaded the system.

You got that right. I love EQ2 so much but I am sorry even Blizzard support blows SOE away they simply do not care.

maybe they do have power but the people they use for their connections don't?

I dunno, blizzard blaming their server stability to clients wiring doesnt sound like great support either.

You are seriously inept.  Your local food store has enough power to run their store's essential freezers and coolers for a short time.  The local food store does not operate in a power outage with full lights, registers etc etc.  I am sure they had the generators running for as a long as possible.  Its also possible their peers are not operating.  You lack of internet knowledge or networking is comical.

...if their servers and internet is down, how are they going to communicate to their subscribers?

Boss: "Quick, send an e-mail out to our subscribers telling them our internet is down"

Employee: "But sir, our internet is down"

Boss: "I don't care! Make it happen!"

    ZAM reports this

    http://eq2.zam.com/story.html?story=27641

    Login servers are up.

    DCUO reported to be up.

EQ2: Everfrost, Guk, Butcherblock, Permafrost, Oasis and Unrest confirmed as up. All EU servers confirmed as up.

EQ: Antonius Bayle (EU) only server confirmed as up.

  • AkulasAkulas Member RarePosts: 3,029

I've been able to log in successfully and I'm having no issues on the Antonia Bayle server. For anyone on the AB server.

Really? Dude, they are a billion dollar company. I'm positive they have offices outside of San Diego, plus they are a subsidiary of Sony.

They just didn't care to try anything or seek help from inside their parent company. I'm pretty sure their I-Phonesand other smart phones are working, too.

    Try again, apologist.
