Hey guys, I'm an older player that's looking to return. Based on how I knew the game before and how it is now, I have some questions. Any input would really help me out.
I hear the learning skills have been taken out of the game? Is there any truth to this? Also, what does that mean for someone who would be starting from scratch like myself?
I found that I tried mining and it made me want to cut myself out of boredom. I had a lot more fun with mission running, but found they weren't exactly the most profitable things in the universe (level 1s and 2s). One of my biggest frustrations was that some missions would take FOREVER. Like me in a cruiser taking pot shots at stupid little frigates I couldn't track properly or catch up to. Any tips on alleviating this issue?
My biggest difficulty (and probably the EVE killer for me at the time) was that I find the world a little overwhelming, I don't really know how to get into a corp that's doing what I'm interested in (Primarily PvE with PvP when appropriate). I'm not a casual gamer nor am I a "hard core" gamer. I find it a little annoying scheduling myself around EVE because my shifts are all over the place. I don't want to be a flake as usually when I join a "guild" I'm the type of loyal "stay until it dies" sort of member. I just need a corp that's accepting of my "play when I can" approach.
Does anyone have any useful links that I can use to really start off with a solid foundation and short to medium term goal-set? Basically I want to strive for level 3-4 missions ASAP and then go from there. It seems to make sense to me that level 4s are good income, and income is essential to a foundation for a structure of not caring too much about whatever you're flying (pvp). I honestly don't even know how agents and reputation works all that well, I have the feeling that when I was agent grinding I was either grinding the wrong one... or something. It felt awkward.
This one is a little more vague but I would appreciate any other form of input you have to offer (unless it's "don't play EVE" lol). The more the better
Thanks in advance! o7

Heya there,
1) No more learnings = you start at max attribute points possible before implants. So you can skill faster, and can start skilling what you need since day 1. You should have some bonus until you reach some amount of SP while you skill at double speed, also. Add in, new tutorials are very good and give you a lot of free stuff for starting out.
2) Mining is boring if you just mine. I'm writing, studying, working and so on while icemining, so I have to check eve every 25-30 minutes: that's help both my job and "I'm still playing a game". If you got more time, you can manufacturing or Planetary Interactions and so on.
Shooting something smaller than your guns needs some knowledge both on player (don't fear going more far than your optimal for shooting small things) and character (tracking skills will help a lot)... and the right drones (now matters more and medium drones could not be the right weapong for everything, so small drones could be better for frigates).
3) Yeah, finding the right corp for you can be a bit difficult, but it is totally worth. Try the forum, and avoid the huge amount of "single players sharing a private chat channel" (until this is what you are looking for).
4) You should start with evelopedia, http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Missions_%28Useful_threads%29
You could also join Eve University corp, they are a bunch of helpful guys.
5) Well IMHO EvE is really nice and CCP isn't anymore. Maybe CCP never was nice but now is really BAD. Basically, their shooting themselves in their "inner organs".
PVP is where EvE shines. That isn't just 1000vs1000 blob. You can be a pvp trader (both without leaving the station or traveling to 0.0 space and selling stuff at +500%) , you can be a spy, you can even be a AFK cloack pilot boring to hell some corp. This is a sandbox. Make your role.
Fly safe o7
Whoever fears death, dies everyday. Who doesn't, dies only once.
Best advice I can give you is to join EVE-University.
You can do anything you want and attend any lesson you want. Lessons are done at specific times however with how-many that decide to sit in but they are fun (usually). The lessons range from mining 101 to FC.
