A hobbit running around named RipperX, huh? And people wondered why some of us thought this whole "You shall not pay!" business was a bad idea. It may make handsome profits for Turbine and Time-Warner, but the game has lost all dignity.

Sure, because all characters had lore-appropriate names before FTP ...
Yeah. I saw plenty of similar names in the game pre-F2P.
This is why there are RP servers. Sorry, but what dbag would name his character RipperX in Middle Earth? I hate playing with kids.
I'm not sure if you have listened to this guy, but his voice is deeper than mine is and I'm pretty close to 20.
Also, who cares what someones name is in a game baring the fact that hes not on an RP server. I mean honestly, it does not matter at all what your in game name is. For me, I use the name "Klexicon" or "Menoetius" in all games I play because thats my handle. Thats the name people know me by. I'm not going to use a different name for every single game I play in order to be "lore appropriate." Come on man, if you want to have a lore related name stop complaining and go to an RP server or find some people and go LARP.
Someone who has long since used that name, is known with that name and does not care in the least bit in RPing but rather do a commentary for a video game. Just a wild guess.

1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.
Turbine stopped enforcing any kind of lore appropriateness in character naming LONG before F2P went live last summer.
What some of us wanted we will never get... Middle Earth Online MMORPG. This dream had one chance and the dream died forever.
LotRO is an "Interactive Video Game". That's how Turbine classifies it. When seen in this fashion, much of what LotRO is today is perfectly acceptable in light of "IVG".
and YES, I still get upset when I see some of the character names now ingame...
Not gonna watch the Video... since I see the Shire at least weekly... but if RipperX could get a video interview/report done on SW:TOR now THAT I would watch.

people act like this naming issue has not occured in every single MMO out there... and yes, it is an mmo... but, if you avoid others and dont socialize and enteract with anyone ever then you might get the feeling of being alone... just like in the real world...
You can live your real life alone with out much socializing with people... does that make the real world jsut "an intereactive life"?...
honestly people... every mmo is as massively multiplayer as you yourself make it... and for me, LOTRO is very much an MMO...
If it breaks immersion that much for you...turn names off ;P I mean - it's not like when watching LotR - the characters had name plates over their heads to identify them!

Ripper X here. Not sure why people are freaking out about a nickname. The video was merely a 1st impressions look at the game from a noob perspective, general features and just basic gameplay footage. Sorry I didn't name my character LORD RIPAGOARTH the 3rd. Next time I'll highly consider it.

I'd like to preface what I'm about to say with:
1, I didnt' mind the name of your characters as it is your handle and no reason not to use your handle in any game you preview
2, I like your engergetic style. You come off as being very affable and generally jazzed about whatever it is you are presenting.
3, you have a good voice, you don't hem and haw and essentially are a good speaker.
Now, having said that, I thought that this preview really wasn't mutch of a preview and not the best bit of work that I've seen/heard of yours.
It really didn't give a good first impression/quick preview, the "poop in my pants" jokes' seemed very out of place and detracted from your presentation. And this is coming from someone who doesn't mind more earthy humor if it's set up correctly. Essentially the presentation just fell flat for me.
Honestly I thought I could do a better job and I'm not a pro reviewer.
I'm sure you have other, better stuff, coming down the pike though.

Well my friend, thank you for your kind words and constructive crisitsm. As someone who makes videos on a daily basis, I will say that sometimes, some videos come off stronger then others. I merely try to capture the moment, poop humor or no poop humor, but as always I thank you for being honest and will be making many more videos to come.

They'll feature anyone as long as they don't have to pay them. For us, this was crap. For them, this was free content to pad the site with for today.
