Hey all, just wanted to get a better idea of where the people who have played DAOC in the past, who are playing the new servers, are coming from. Here comes the poll:

I almost voted for "Give me the pie, dammit".
There are a lot of people that I've meet on Kay that say they will be coming to the new servers, most just want to casually try it out, but there are many, like me, that are looking for a new home.

I started playing DAOC at release and was in love with the game until ToA came out... then I quit. Looking forward to having fun again like the good ol' days.

Same here.. it was my first MMOG, and the best experience out of all of them.. I get the feeling that with the new servers, that original feeling will be back again. They've done a lot of things right, and it's apparent now that they aren't afraid to fix the things that they've done wrong, too.

Same here, I played from early in beta through to a couple months after ToA came out. I liked the concept of ToA, I just didn't have the time for it at that point in my life, way too much of a timesink. I went back to DAoC about a month ago for reasons other than the new server coming out, but I'll definitely be moving to one of them when they open, will be nice to get in on the ground floor with everyone else on the server all over again.

Played Midgard/Bedevere for 3 years. i quit about a year ago and am considering checking out the new server(s).
Loved this game soo much before TOA and actually liked TOA quite a bit at first. But, the grind started wearing me out. Actually the straw that broke the camels back for me was NF.
NF caused my skald to be 98% worthless now that teleporting was available and since it turned into a ranged-game only with tower farming.
But, alas, i can never stop thinking about this game and I may come back. But this time ... no skald!
Looks like over half the people who have answered the poll are returning after not playing for awhile. Of course, this isn't necessarily representative of the overall MMOG population, since this is a DAOC board and only people interested in it would come here... But methinks they'll need more than 2 classic servers, most likely.

I just bought the Platinum edition and the Catacombs expansion over the weekend. I paid $40. I'm new to DAoC. I'm playing on the Lancelot server at the moment to learn the game but I plan on starting a character on one of the new servers when they open. So far, I like the game very much. There is a lot to learn but I'll figure it out eventually. I can't get over how many classes there are to choose from. I was formerly playing WoW (which I like very much) only I wish we had a larger class selection. =/
Anyway, very excited to be a part of DAoC.

Played DAOC, pre-Atlantis; played WoW, left that hunk of junk behind (if I want a daycare, I'll pay for one). Came back to both EQ2 and DAOC, enjoying both more now than originally. Great games. DAOC's classes are more distinctive, I love the RvR combat... their changes recently to make it more solo-palatable I think helped things out.
