Solo only ?..Not really

I decided to make a topic here on the Rift forums as to how I play mmo's. I do this strategy in all.

Someone made a comment on one of my postings, that they like Rift but it's made to play solo.  I felt that it should be it's own topic.

First forget about Guild's unless your max level in an mmo.  Sorry, but think about it !...How often do you spam the guild and actually get help ?.......Most don't even know what your talking about.   Add t the fact that if your a level 26, how many other level 26's are in any given Guild ?

I was just playing in Gloamwood.  I have this un done quest that requires 3 people.  As I was doing another quest someone else was along side me doing the same quest.  I helped him and then asked if he would like to do the 3 person quest.  Well we worked together and finished it.  I know what your thinking, pretty standard.  Now here is the difference I asked to add him to my friends list and chatted about if we EVER NEED EACH OTHERS HELP WE WOULD ASK !..........Now this is what people don't do.

I will build a friends list of the same, along with just saying Hi now and then.

Sure Rift is a solo game for the most part, and like every other mmo it's hard to quest with others.  EVERYONE HAS THERE OWN AGENDA, some like to harvest along the way, others have different quest on there mind.  It's just hard to quest with others. Voice chat sometimes helps, RL friends that could get together on the phone or at work helps when you can build a strategy.  But it's just hard to quest.

This does not say that you can't eep in contact with others, and help with the hard ones.

Using the Social Panel is another way that works great.  Every mmo has one, yet no one EVER USES IT !.... Did you ever think of finding help, or get groups together using it ?.....Search for people of your level, search for people in your zone.  Most everyone would like a friend, but most are shy.

1) use the Social Panel

2) add many to friends

3) short chats now and then.  you don't need to wont something all the time, just say Hi.

4) A good night could be how many friends you make, instead of how much xp you got !

Rift is no less friendly than any other mmo.

Rifts are also a great way to find groups. After you close one just ask if anyone wants to do a group quest or run an instance. That's never failed for me.

Anyone calling Rift a solo game obviously hasn't played RIft.

There is no way you could get through the game strictly soloing. Invasion comes to your questing area, you have to group up.

Of course, there is a some content that is solo'able, and I feel every mmo needs a good balance of both.

A good solo part of the game is the daily in Meridian where you race through Meridian, gaining speed boost and getting launched in the air.

Overall, Rift couldn't really be described as a solo friendly game.

Ummm....yes, it could.  When people refer to a game as "solo-friendly," they are saying that it is entirely possible to solo your way up to level cap without ever grouping.  If you can go from level 1-50 without ever joining a group in Rift, why would you say it can't be described as solo-friendly?

You don't HAVE to do Rifts or invasions.  You can just do quests and hit level cap with zero issues at all.  Thus:  Solo-friendly.  Once you get to endgame, this becomes a different story because there is content you'll miss out on if you don't group up, but 80% of the game's content you can see as a solo player.

To be honest, I don't see why labelling a game as "solo-friendly" is such a bad thing, anyway.  When a game is solo-friendly, it has content that appeals to every type of gamer:  hardcore, casual, solo, social, etc.  I would consider this a good thing.
