Guild Wars 2: Meet Mr. Sparkles

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

A lore piece has cropped up on the official Guild Wars 2 blog that spotlights a story written three years ago as the team began exploring what an Asura would be like. Meet Mr. Sparkles. While the story is from 2008, we are assured that it has import to Guild Wars 2.

Why is this tale important? It tells the hidden history of Mr. Sparkles. This character will pop up again later in our tale—but that’s a story for another day…

Read "Mr. Sparkles, A Tale of the Asura" on the Guild Wars 2 blog. Keep your eye on the site throughout this week for more information about the Asura.

Stories are for kids? You're kidding me right? Because last I knew, it was more common for adults to read than for kids. But honestly, some people actually like lore and such that goes with the game. Try to think in other people's perspective before throwing out the first thing that comes to mind.

@lolpk. Would you rather the developers go totally dark and silent with no updates of how the game is coming along? Because that's what you and everyone else screaming for a release date in my opinion want. You want everything now even if it means an unfinished buggy game.

ArenaNet isn't following the mold, they are taking their time and giving out occasional updates (be they for one of the races or professions or a system in game). By giving the updates it gives the community a general idea of what is done and what isn't.

Have patience, ArenaNet has said that beta would be at the end of this year and confirmed multiple times they are still on track.

I'm sorry. I couldn't help it. That was the first thing that came to my mind.

That truly was a great blog for the Asura, I have not laughed that much reading a blog in a long time. “Meet the new negotiator, we call him MR. Sparkles”, oh man I love that!

I love lore as must as the next adult but i agree they definitely need to release a beta of some kind so people can begin the video upload process to see the game. or Release the game altogether and then explain the lore AS the game is OUT. that would be nice. They did that WoW and i loved it.

You don't have to select the target to damage it, attacks will harm whatever gets in the damage zone.

Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.

Its obvious that some people dont care for lore....

I do and i love these stories, great stories have been missing from most MMO's for muc to long now... Both GW2 and SW:TOR will chang that....   And for the rest people that hate stories and prefer mindless content grinding have enough MMO's to choose from allready.

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

Too bad I don't know and I don't want to know anything about this ugliest race of all MMO history.

GW2 would be a better game if this race didn't exist.

    @tom_gore

You have to see them in action, the animations are just... amazing. Find some of the videos from Pax/GamesCon the animations for the Asura are honestly some of the best/most well done I have ever seen in a video game.
