Players computers at risk?

WildCardzWildCardz Member Posts: 43

Recently I paid a casual visit to this game just to see what it was all about. After getting through the game tut I landed in the starting city and to my dismay my chat was filled with bots advertising gold selling sites. It was so bad I could not ask other players game related questions.

Note that sitea advertising is agenst the games rules.

I moved away from the main city and found a player I thought I could chat with and get some answers to my questions.

After saying hi I ask a game related question, no response was given. No the " player was not a game npc " .  As I stood there wondering what wrong another player came by an said hi. This was my chance to ask some questions. I ask some game related questions.  Which the player answered, so I ask what was up with all of the bots. He explained that they were everywhere. That they did all tasks to sell items to supply the gold sellers. He went on to tell me how peoples accounts had been hacked.

Well a thought occured to me if all of these bots are running at will then it is quite possible that the game had been compremised and it was therefore possible for a players account to be hacked. Which set into motion the thought that a hacker could invade my computer through the game.

Needless to say I did not stay in game much longer. I thanked the player and logged out never to return.

I can not say with any certainty that the game has been compremised But I for one will not take the risk of my computer being invaded.

All I can go by is what I seen and was told.

My misses would inadvertently allow her cousin (young whipper snapper) to install runescape on her pc or laptop many times, for we only to come along and remove it again after her incessant whines for help later in the mnth. Everytime I would rip the kid a new one but he never listens and she never learns :D

I believe game itself will not give you key log, but any visited bot sites could be dangerous.
Game is getting worse every day, looks like 75% of players are bots.
I pop there to see how it is, but find it not worth efforts as I can't be better then bot.

Seems Jagex don't care or even make profit of bot program / RS gold selling.
And sure they will not ban 75% of player base.

So game is not worth time spent.

try before buy, even if it's a game to avoid bad surprises.
Worst surprises for me: Aion, GW2

The game doesn;t hack you but the macros and account sellers will. The way it was explained to me, they make a record of all names in chat, and then use a program that mounts the login screen that just cracks passwords. Basically, they have made an advanced password cracking program that just runs until it gets in. People should always remember to never use real words and use both numbers and letters in their passowrd, a preferably long password, making it more difficult for it to crack.
