It is dead. No reason for PVP at the moment.

PvP has died. We have not really seen a serious PvP update since launch. Instead we got a new lolground map and lost assualt mode in space PvP.

Free players can do any foundry missions but can't create any. You have to be a subscriber to use it.

Of course if you're in a small shuttle you'd only have a cockpit, but in a starship you should have a full size bridge at least. A whole explorable starship would be best, but I wouldn't hold my breath for that.  I'd be happy with a bridge though.

They had to have added bridges within the first three months because that's when I quit and they were up when I left, problem was there was absolutely nothing to do in them at the time.  They also had some stations like med bay and engineering but again I don't recall there being anything to do in those spaces but walk around and see a couple of npc's working.

STO's f2p is going to utterly fail.

the game still lacks content, and their support team is full of a bunch of amateurs.

i'd recommend just cancelling your subscription and playing another game, just like i've just done.

Cryptic Studios is a joke, and Dan is just as full of sh** as he ever was. The fact that this unprofessional and immature company managed to get ahold of the Star Trek IP makes me sad. The franchise as a video game deserved so much more, and with all the bad decisions, bad customer support, and crazy development fiascos that have occured ever since launch, now Cryptic decides to take a major sh** on any and all lifetime subscribers by utilizing a F2P model. Oh boy...how did I not see this coming? ;)

They took a year and a half to fix the terrible ground combat system even though customers had been bitc*ing about it since launch...and all they did was add in a reticule, tweak a few HP bars, and allow people to annoyingly shoot wherever they want whenever they want? And this took a year and a half? Please.

Along with a slew of other irritating things that Cryptic has done, the only thing this company has demonstrated to me is that they aren't mature, skilled, experienced, or professional enough to handle a true triple AAA MMORPG project. They sorely lack any kind of intelligent buisness sense and their corporate attitudes suck. Like I told them in my last email that I wrote to them personally: Cryptic Studios needs to get buried in the graveyard of corporate failures. The company is amateurish, and should not be in the business of making video games. To me...its as simple as that.

While this all may sound harsh, remember this: I was a lifetime subscriber and a staunch supporter of STO and Cryptic Studios in the beginning of last year. I have been personally harrassed by their forum moderation team, and I've been ignored by customer support when Atari used to be involved. Never in my 13+ years of online gaming have I ever encountered a company so retarded, and so full of sh** when it comes to their "promises."

Never again will I ever trust this company with my money. I don't care what game they make.

Yes, but f2pers will not be able to create missions using the foundry, only partake in playing the foundry missions. Only p2pers and lifetimers will be able to create foundry missions. Its got to do with the creation of player fleet bases and the system uses the foundery for that as well so only p2pers and lifetimers will be able to create the fleet starbases. Atleast, thats what I read.

Well as a lifetime subscriber from the beginning I am very excited to see the game go F2P. For starters I have allready had my investment returned and as of the start of F2P will also me recieving a 400cp a month stipend.  Also when the game goes F2P they will be changing the money system to what is called Dilithium which will be tradable for C-points. They are also in season 5 going to open up sector space to make it ALL one big map zone. They have just implemented the Borg red alerts which are random mini borg raids for up to 5 people and they give an enormously sick amount of XP plus either some currancy or gear. Pvp is till pretty much the same since the launch of the game. But now there are ques that you can join from anywhere in the game and there is both ground and space Pvp. Also they have added fed on fed and KDF on KDF Pvp. They have made a great deal of progress since launch and are adding more all the time. The only reason for the currant content drought is simply because of the recent aqusition of Cryptic from Atari to PWE and because they are working on the conversion to F2P.

Game has issues like most games but at least Star Trek Online (STO) is playable for me.

Tried Eve's but the very poor interface made it unplayable for me. I expected a REAL space battle NOT some simulated one!

Just one month after he left many things he has said are turning out not to be true.  "most of the c-store items will be staying the same price or going down"..... 73% of items are increasing in price - many increasing by $10 or more!  Free in-game items are being taken out and being made pay-only.

Items ALREADY PURCHASED are being taken away from people who have ALREADY PAID for them and being replaced by much lesser versions of the same items with variants that have to be purchased in order to equal the original items abilities (Excelsior ship).  A $15 ship now is $40 ($15 + $25). || Update!  They finally acknowledged the PR fiasco and reversed themselves on this - though it's concerning they thought they could get away with it in the first place.

Items already purchased as account-wide items are being converted to per-character items and if you accidentally discard an item you can't just re-claim it in the c-store as you used to - you have to repurchase it now!

This on top of no new content for nearly year is simply too much.  I used to love STO but with the ownership and executive producer change this game has become a game I completely recommend avoiding.
