System:Athlon 2g proc
G-Force FX 5200 AGP 128mb
1g 333 DDR ram PC2700
Windows XP
40g HD with 10g empty
Problem:Launchpad.exe encountered a problem and had to shut down.....

This is the message I get whenever I try to start PS....I have the full retail copy and I have searched Station.com,PS.com, and read loads of advice about shutting down firewalls etc even uninstalled entire security progs...about the only thing I haven't tried (that I know of) is a complete OS reboot...After installation, I click "play PS" on the log screen with the 3 race intros, this opens a SOE load status box which scans and loads files. When it reaches "Loading Graphics" I get the above message....I've never played PS and would like to try but this problem is doin' my head in...Oh and I'm not very techie so any help in "one click at a time" terms please....

You should also post this on PS tech forum.

I have no clue what the problem with the launcher is... One suggestion, manually delete LAUNCHPAD (not the whole game) folder. WHen you do this, run LAUNCHER.EXE in your PLANETSIDE folder and it should recreate that deleted folder and redownload all the necessary files. In the middle of that it might ask you where your folder was, just write down path where it used to be and tell it where to DL it into.
These instructions could be incomplete since I did that a while ago, I dont remember the problem I had but it seemed to fix it.
    Good Luck

thnx jimmy but I've tried, won't let me post new messages at Station.com even tho' it says I'm logged in.I've got all the dxdiag info ready to send them, might try an e-mail...Anyway, your advice got me a bit further but still same problem. I now get a log in screen but when I enter my name and pw I get the same launcher message....I'm beginning to think the problem is with the Launche pad graphics and they won't load up or something, just got to keep looking....thnx again for the help m8....

No prob...Ive been confused by the laucher myself . I deleted it i think, then i found another laucher folder on a different drive... Weird stuff was happening. Maybe do a complete uninstal and delete ALL fodlers u will find (should be SONY/PLANETSIDE/LAUNCHER or something like that) Do a search on multiple drives if u have more then 1. Then reinstall the whole thing again.
