Adult servers??

MSCavMSCav Member UncommonPosts: 141

How many of you would like an adult only server for games?? Not pornographic, but many of my friends who play WoW cannot stand all the "12 year old immature punks, who whine when you kill them, and act stupid." One of them suggested an adult server that I would guess you could do with the persons credit card online.

A few of them just wont play MMOs anymore unless there is an adult server.

This is pretty much impossible to do.  Those 12 year olds have already gotten their parents credit card information to pay for the games (sure, some have game cards, but the majority dont) and would be able to get into these servers anyways.

And I find it completely ignorant to believe that the 12 year olds are the only ones who act 12.  I would be willing to bet there are just as many imature "adults" then there are children who play MMO's.

I have to agree with Maverick here. I've seen plenty of immature 16, 17, 18 but even 25 or 35 year olds.

Evidence? This very forum. When you see an immature post, check out the profile, and you'll noticed a good chunk of the immature posters are 24+ year old.

Granted, I do agree that 12, 13 and 14 year olds tend to be horrible typers and incredibly daft. That said, there are definetly exceptions to that rule.

I suggest an IQ test before entering the server. Minimum of 115 to enter.

Hah, if only. We could have a WoW server named "Mensa".

I recall one of the old Leisure Suit Larry games, it had a age verify built into it before the program would load to the play screen. Using a series of obscure questions that would have required the user to have knowledge of things 20-30 years prior to the games release.

Now while it would only be a temp solution as kids could look up answers on the net, some may find a series of say 100 various questions enough of a nussance to not even bother with a "Adult" server, having the questions asked at account creation would be even better since many of the kids playing it are not handed their parrents credit cards but rather have their parrents imput their information themselfs before handing the computer over to their child.

There are ways and means to thin the herd so to speak, but to clean the youngins out totally is next to impossible.

    *Edit*

I also have met many people far beyond age 12-15 on MMOG's that have the maturity of a drunken monkey, so while age is the first step in creating a more mature gaming environment, it would not be highly successful.

I would also think users would find this course of action as very...restricted, and have a "what's next?" feeling about a developer who would do such a thing.

Since it would only be required at account creation, say to select in advance that the user wishs to play on "Adult" servers (All other servers would require nothing) it would only push away the people who feel it was not worth their time. For others who really feel it would improve their game play experience and the environment Im quite sure it would be highly welcomed.

    I wish.

Even though I'm not that old... I'd really love to play with others who don't have the mindset of a 12 year old (whether they're 12 years old or not). It's true, in almost every MMO you play, you can join a clan or guild of mature players, but they're hard to find, at least for me. :

Making servers with some kind of age limit would help weed out a few of the less mature players. (I'm not saying age means something EVERY time, but a lot of the time it does seem to make a big difference. There are exceptions to every rule, including this one; so please, no flaming me for making generalizations.)

I'm 18 years old. And I can sympathize for all yall being harrased by PEOPLE who are morons and assholes.

I'm not sure about the majority of 12 years that are ass holes but i know that there is least a semi-close pecentage of fucktards 18 and up.

    I'm one of the fucktards.

I think this is exactly how my friends feel. My guild wont accept or will kick out childish players in a heartbeat. Perhaps if more guilds did the same instead of trying to grow with numbers it would change how ANY player no matter what age they are to straighten up and generally not ruin the game for others.

    *Not pornographic.*

See... I think you'd be onto a winner there, a professionally produced 'adult' game that simply treated the 'adult' part as one facet of the overall game would pack 'em in.

Segragation along any lines (race, religion, age, IQ) just doesn't work. While most people are more than happy to remain with their own "kind" there are always a few that feel more comfortable among people other than their demographic. I was a bookish little kid when I was 12 and I preferred the company of adults or children much younger than me to people my own age. Likewise, there are adults that would rather be in the company of kids. Of course, we tend to call those people pedophiles and keep them away from kids (if they're male that is) ::::33::

Kids are going to get onto whatever server that you reserve for "adults" and adults are going to get on servers set aside for kids. You'd be better off just joining a guild with a maturity standard.

Well most of the times I don't want to sound like a so called "fanboy", but this time I can't really help it:

"When you don't like the community of a specific game, why don't you go look for something else?"

I'm pointing my finger to Ryzom here. From what I have experienced the most people around in this game are pretty adult. Sure there are some 15 year olds, but you are gonne have a hard time finding one (and to be honest I only know one active player who actually is 15 years old).
Feel free to give it a go. There is a free trial wich will allow you to get into the community a bit and experience it yourself. All that can happen is that you don't like the game :).

If you decide to try it - http://www.ryzom.com - feel free to send me a personal message via thier forums, my nickname is the same as the one here.

Will you people STOP SAYING that there is no difference in between an immature under-age kid and an immature adult?

YES THERE FRIGGIN IS!!! Any long time MMORPG player will tell you this!

I'd rather play on a WoW adult server with only a couple hundred immature adults rather than playing on an all general WoW server with thousands of immature children + hundreds of immature adults all combined in one, thus creating the worst community you could ever experience in a MMORPG!

I mean just look at the damn game for crying out loud! Years ago in older MMORPGs, yes, there were some children and some immature adults. You'd have an idiot adult act like a child... ignore him, and move on.

WoW... you have 1 idiot child/adult, then 10-15 other idiot child/adults reply and flame. Do I feel like adding 10-15 people to my ignore list every day? NO!!!

I'm so glad I'm on a RP server... the maturity level is a BIT (notice I said BIT) higher than PVP and normal servers. At least I can tell a l33t to STFU and he gets banned for not RPing and I won't get banned for telling him to STFU cause he felt insulted.
