One of EA's Visceral Studios may be closing its doors after the cancellation of its project.
An anonymous source has told Kotaku that the studio in Melbourne, Australia will shut down on Monday. The developer had been working on a triple-A title for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but that project was cancelled – prompting the closure of the studio.
Furthermore, Gamasutra reports that the upcoming closure has been corroborated by other sources, although the Monday deadline may refer to the studio cutting jobs.
Visceral's Melbourne studio helped with titles such as Dead Space, Godfather 2, and Dante's Inferno.

Of course one of the developers that makes one of the few games (deadspace) that I actually like gets closed. Outstanding...mean while companies that make garbage carry on.
Yay.
Someone should close this modern sweatshops known as EA and ACtivision its unbelievable how many great studios and jobs are getting lost cause of these two bastards.
We need a MMORPG Cataclysm asap, finish the dark age of MMORPGS now!
"Everything you're bitching about is wrong. People don't have the time to invest in corpse runs, impossible zones, or long winded quests. Sometimes, they just want to pop on and play."
"Then maybe MMORPGs aren't for you."
Prolly cause everyone keeps buying generic military first person shooters. Then again, thats 90% of all the games that keep coming out.
If gamers would stop buying their slop, they wouldn't be the powerhouse scum that they are. But that would be like politely asking a crack addict to please stop abusing themselves. All they can think about is their next fix. Nothing else matters.
Well its not that easy let me tell you why:
Goverments are letting this companies become too big and once you are that big and utilized enough developer jobs, you can just move on buy the next former great studio, so I really think we are at a point were the goverment has to step against these two.

People need to get over it. Studios close all the time, and even more unnamed new startups, or triple A's that can't get a game out the door, go down without even a mention, yet, the big company that closes one of their studios and may even keep some of the developers on is the bad guy.
SOE closed tons of their studios, funcom downsized, NCsoft let plenty of people go over the years, cryptics been bought and sold and bought, and tons of the best selling games have been rushed and flooded to the market in such a way that they've killed off the game lines before they even really got started.
Blame EA if you want, but its an industry thing, its what companies do, but if you want to point fingers, I guess EA is about the best that it will get seeing as how they are one of the biggest producers of video games in the industry.
It may sound cold, but why are you still surprised by this? EA made its ill reputation in part by killing studios and divisions over the years.
I'm not surprised just angry goverments haven't taken action against such studios.

Reading comprehension guys... Visceral Games studios main is located in Redwood Shores, California. They're closing down the Australian branch, nothing more.
While I admit this still sounds a bit sucky, it's not that they're closing down Visceral (so Deadspace is still safe).
I'm guessing this is a joke, because it couldn't have been meant seriously.
This is terrible, Visceral was awesome. I played the crap out of dead space.
