I just started reading this forum. I am amazed at how many people seem upset about losing games. I've been there and had to learn to play well so I can compete well, even against tanks of higher tiers.
I even wrote up some strat guides (which I have shared with my clan mates and which actually got published on Yahoo, which is cool because it brings more attention to the game). Considering how poorly many people play you might be amazed at how well you can do if you use smart tactics and play your tank to its best advantage.
I think part of the problem people have is that they are used to the idea of lone heroes ruling the day, and that's totaly not how WoT works. I learned that the hard way. I was playing an American T29 (a tier 7 heavy) and got to feeling my oats. I rushed ahead unsupported and was shredded by 3 enemy M5 Stewart light tanks. They just wolf packed me and played smarter than I did.
Will people lose games? Of course. Nobody wins them all. If you get a 50-50 rating, though, you are breaking even and that's really a good thing. It means you have some victories and the game is still a challenge for you.

I'm guessing you havent read through the threads here as not eveyone is gainst the game.
It has problems and this site is uncensored so those problems get talked about.
I'm aware. It just seems that the players who talk about losing games generally seem very, very upset. There seems to be less talk of about "How do I win in this situation" than there is of "I lost, this stinks."
I know the matchmaking is an issue. The developor note about it said they have such a broad range of tiers per game for two reasons; first, it makes matchmaking faster; and second, it lets those at the top end feel like their tanks made a really decisive difference in the game.
I would love to see the matchmaking tightened up, but unless and until that happens it seems more fun to figure out ways to hold my own than to fixate on the problems. Does that make me overly optimistic? Perhaps, but I am having tons of fun with this game.
Thus the "I lost, this stinks" thing. If your victory or loss wasnt caused by you having a higher/lower tier tank then you might ask "How do I win in this situation" but most of the time you know you cant. Its always either that 1shotting arty or KV-2 which you cant even scratch or leo that can move faster than you and has an impenetrable front armor (dunno if its worse/better now, with new light tanks) etc etc.
If devs really wanted to make game skill based, they would have given every tank about same ammount of hp so even lower tiered tank could have a chance vs top tanks. But it wont happen, people who spent their time grinding (and possibly payed for premium) "must" be rewarded with easy mode killing.
skill based? no
tactics? no
bigger gun? YES
IZI MODO?! Ha-ha-ha!
Ok, I'll buy that.
How about this:
Instead of saying "How can I win here?" maybe the more appropriate question is "Even though I am outclassed, how can I make a genuine contribution to team victory here?"
I have a friend, former military, who has lousy stats. It's because even when outclassed he says, "Well, I am gonna go down hard, but how can I contribute?" He'll find ways to make a nuisance of himself to the enemy team, distract them, interrupt their movements by poking his nose over a rise and then relocating to keep the guessing, etc. Anything to contribute. Does he get big medals and such? Not many, but he loves the game and teams lucky enough to have him have a real "team player" on board who will do everything he can to contribute to team success.
I have found that the best way to win this game is for the players on your team to all go in different directions, and then just put their foot to the floor until they reach the enemy base. It works every time.
I've seen that fail miserably as the enemy, stationary and in cover and with time to aim, just annihilates the onrushing team piecemeal.
I know, it was a joke. It is what all truly shit teams do.
LOL oh gotcha.
I wish I could post some strategy guides here. I wrote them and got them published on Yahoo (I am a contributing writer for them). It gets the game some more publicity.
Email the admins about it.
