I'm gonna use this post as a small compilation of rumors and facts for Issue 5 Update, Issue 6 Update, and City of Villains.
Issue 5 Update (Due out in August)
- New Powersets
- Sonic Primary for Defender
- Shield (Lethal/crush)
- Shield (Elements?)
- Sonic Cage (Hold?)
- Disruption Field (An AoE -resist debuff that you set on a team mate)
- Clarity (Status Effect Cure/Clear Mind)
- Sonic Repulsion (AoE that keeps Enemy's out of the Area of Effect, saving you from melee?)
- Sonic Dispersion (AoE Knock Back?)
- Liquefy (No idea. I assume a AoE Hold)
- Sonic Primary for Blaster/Secondary for Defender (Sonic Blast?)
- Shriek (Single Target -res/Smashing?)
- Scream (Single Target -res/Smashing?)
- Howl (Cone/Smashing + maybe -res, I assume so but ?)
- Shockwave (Cone/Smashing+Knockback?)
- Amplify (Self Buff +%50 damage +%100 Acc?)
- Sirens Song (AoE Sleep?)
- Screech (Disorient, not sure if it's AoE, or Cone, or Single, or even if it does damage)
- Dreadful Wail (Omega Attack I assume, Huge PBAoE Damage/Crushing+Disorient?)
- Archery Primary for Defender (Trick Arrows?)
- Entangling Arrow (Target Slow Movement or -Recharge?)
- Ice Arrow (Target Hold or Location Ice Slick?)
- Glue Arrow (Target/Area Slow Movement maybe -recharge or -def)
- Flash Arrow (Target AoE Blind/Sleep?)
- Poison Gas Arrow (Target or Area Choke/Hold?)
- Acid Arrow (Target or Area -Resist?)

- Croatoa - "Designed to challenge characters level 25 to 35 in a mysterious region infamous for its links to powerful magical forces and deadly creatures."
- New Villains
- Cabal of Witches - I think these could be from Halloween Event, neat
- Red Caps - "little imps" could be neat too
- Fire Bolg and Tuatha de Dannan - They sound like they will be "Giant" type monsters, probably for large teams. I'm especially interested in "Tuatha de Dannan"
- New Badges
- Ok first I'll quote then break down my conclusion. " for epic character accomplishments and special badges for events within Croatoa. " They say epic, this may either mean level 50 only or Kheldian only, or it could just mean NC thinks it's hard.
- New Task Force
- " Perform missions for contacts in Croatoa to unlock the exclusive task force. "
- New Zone Events
- Topic Breakdown - These are basically special mob spawns for out of mission action
- Hellion Arson - " The Hellions are torching buildings and its up to the heroes to snuff them out! "
- Troll Rave - " Theres an upgraded Superadine source and the trolls are overdosing to create Super-Trolls that are out of control! "
- New Mission Types/Customization
- " Many existing missions have been updated with hostage escort missions, villain wave attacks and more! "
- Debt Changes
- " Half XP Debt when characters are defeated in missions and no XP Debt until Level 10! "
City of Villains (Due out July 20ish?)
- New Achetypes (Credit to Clintonian of the CoH Forums)
- Brute (Melee Primary/Defence Secondary)
- Stalker (Defence Primary/Melee Secondary) (Assassin-esque?)
- Destroyer (Blaster Primary/Defender Buff/Heal/Debuff Secondary)
- Dominator (Controll Primary/Blaster Secondary(Maybe))
- Master Mind? (Epic AT for Villains, presumed to use mainly "pets" AKA Thugs, goons, crap like that.
- PvP
- PvP Zones (4?) - Zones and building that can be disputed between heroes and villains. These areas will grant the controllers special abilities such as being able to launch missiles at your enemies.
- PvP Rewards - PvP rewards will be granted, presumably for killing other players in VvsV VvsH Base raids, or open pvp, or things of that sort. "Shane Lacy Hensley: Yes, but the rewards will mostly be tailored to PVP. We don't want people to feel they have to participate in PVP or their hero/villain is at a disadvantage in the PVE game. " - In summation you will/can get benefits for use in pvp by participating, but they wont effect PvE so players dont feel obligated.
- Hero/Villains bases. These will be able to be made in a tile-ish fashion (sims with turrets?). You will be able to get special "energy crystal" type things that allow you to upgrade your base. These can be stollen from an apposing faction's base or from a high level AV.
- Extra Base Notes
- Bases will be extremely unique, following in the footsteps of the CoH character creation tools. Bases may take the look of sewers, high tech plants, caves, ect (probably most indoor missions will be able to be copied). As I said you lay your base out tile by tile. So who knows, you might be able to use your base as a maze to confuse any enemies.
- Base Features (Quoted from Clintonian) "Hospital, Great Hall, Rooms/Corridoors, Vault, Transportation (for vehicles in the future), and Library & Lab (for Skills in the future) with all the decorative and usable objects applicable for each, including various modes of base defense (turrets, pain/sleep crystals. Etc.)"
- Base Cost - Yep, gonna be upkeep costs, probably based upon how much space you actually use.
- Bases will be accessed via "Portal Corp transport points"
- City of Heroes Expansion
- Current heroes will be able to turn into villains AKA Fallen Heroes (also later villains will become Redeemed Villains) Note 1: If a level 50 just decides to switch sides they may or may not be able to experience the lower level villain content. Note 2: If a current City of Heroes subsciber decides to have City of Villains also an additional $0-5 may be charged per month (This is under dispute, but it may happen because seperate content will be also be released for CoV, double the work for the development staff.)
- Random Notes
- PvP wont actually start till 15 (non arena pvp that is) I dont actually see a reason for this, I'll look it up.
THIS IS A BIG CHANGE - Villains dont actually start with their powers from what I hear, it's actually pretty cool in my opinion. You start as a "basic goon" then work your way into a villain faction, for example (but these might not be options) Family, Council, ect. I'm pretty sure the actual options are like serving under Arachnos though, Lord Recluse, whatever.
It's also being concidered that villains might start in prison as the tutorial and attempt to bust out. That's neat.
Issue 6 Update Note: Mostly Rumors
- Out of Combat Skills (Crafting?)
- Addition of University's (Truth)
- University's will allow for out of combat skills possibly crafting (Pretty much a "Duh")
- POSSIBLY customizable weapons - This is the big part for me, at the moment lets say you're a Empathy Defender. Your heals pretty much just come out of your hands. This would mean that you may be able to change it so you can use a small device to heal people, or your mind. Maybe make a fire blaster completly use their mind, Pyromancy would be a very very sweet thing.
- Alternate Addition from Hype:

Weapon Customization involves deciding what type of sword, gun, axe, or mace to use... this is simply a skin swap, and is coming soon...
POWER Customization involves how your character shoots fire/controls minds/what color your energy is... this will include redoing animations, which is a big workload and thus isn't coming for a while...
Weapon Customization is slated for I6, not 'power customization'"
For the record I state again, this is not set in stone, but as for time constraints I would definately have to agree this is more possible. Still, it may be neither, I dont know what's coming with the University's but if this isn't part of them it may not be out either. Still, we can hope .

Yeah, I definately hear you on that, the problem is they treat CoV as a seperate game (even though it can act as an expantion), that means they will have two seperate teams doing updates for each game. They COULD be charing an extra 15 a month, but they decided an extra 0-5 (they may not even charge extra) a month, which is, ok I suppose. As much as I hate to admit it, these are going to be two very different games.
Edit: Yeah, if you've been playing CoH a while I might just switch over to CoV to get a fresh start, unless you dont wanna go through a grind and just get the upcoming pvp/content

Yeah, it might not be "crafting" in the normal sense, but I called it that because it has an unknown name as of yet. And easier than saying "Out of Combat Skill and Stuff" everytime I want to refer to it.

Yeah. As I said, mostly rumors, the only thing I know for sure that's gonna happen in I6 is the University's. And you're completely right, that's a huge amount of work that means almost completely remodling every power for every character sex(male/female/huge)/size/ect. I'm gonna add this as alternate and credit you. Thanks

Wow nobodies mad about the half XP debt thing, I was thinkomg about getting the game, but that turned me off.
Cant wait to try CoV! At last PvP I MAY or not join, and will still see all the reasons in the world to keep playing in PvE even if I am turning away from PvP(which may or not happen).
