I currently own an m14x and am fighting for a refund on my system because there was a simple issue that required a new motherboard and it would have been the end of the issue if Dell hadn't sent me a faulty motherboard to replace the bad one. I have just ended a 3 week fiasco with Dell fixing things that they caused with bad replacement parts. Don't get me started...long story.
My question boils down to simply, would you recommend returning my m14x of I can swing it/selling it to someone to purchase the G53SW-A1. My hesitance lies in the power button issues reported with this system and people getting it and it being messed up in some way, screen issues etc...
My M14x is back to working condition but I want to be done with Dell.
Also, how is XoticPC Customer Service and Asus' compared to Dell?
Would the switch be a smart move to switch to ASUS? how durable are the systems? well built?
Thanks ahead of time!

eycel is going to chime in any minute and brag about that laptop he paid too much for:) then he's gonna call everybody names and ruin your thread:)
for a productive thread, it's best not to mention alienware in the future.
and yes asus would be the better choice if you dont need the 14" form factor
Hah ok, but I'll take my chances to get some solid opinions/info....hopefully.
I'd somewhat expect Asus to offer better build quality than Dell, but I don't really know. I have no clue what Xotic PC's customer service is like. But a GeForce GTX 460M is dramatically faster than a GeForce GT 555M. If you care about graphical performance and can get either one for about the same price, I'd try to switch to the Asus.
Trying to put a gaming system in a 14" form factor instead of 15" means cost++, and also means they have to pick much lower performance parts. So getting a 14" gaming laptop with a discrete card doesn't make a bit of sense unless you really, really want the 14" form factor and think 15" is too big.
the primary reason to buy alienware is in form factors that major manufactures dont produce in. 14" and below are more or less the range where alienware or sony Z would shine. otherwise, asus would be the better choice. unless you are spending a ton of cash then you'd be looking at something that are basiclly rebranded clevo's like sager.
I would avoid all that is Dell. Their customer support is atroscious.
The reason I looked at Dell was specifically because Asus kept sending me bad motherboards and I was tired of the frustration. I ended up purchasing a custom rig from CyberPower. Best choice I ever made. I got double the machine for 1 grand less. You are paying for a brand name with Alienware.
Well.. they're customer service really impressed me. They called me the very next day to go over some things from my order. The box was literally armored. Loaded up no problems at all, I am nothing but happy with them. From my experience, I am very happy. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think some of the guys from Alienware left and created CyberPower when Dell bought them.
For the sake of comparison. Dell didn't call after I placed an order. They then cancelled my order, ended up causing my CC to freeze, as well as my bank account because of it. I had to call them, the bank, the CC and get it all straightened out..all because they got a bad batch of CPU's. Now, you'd think they would have called me and informed me of the problem before they decided that it was a better idea to not only cancel the order entirely (almost 5g's), but also to fail to call me and tell me what was going on. After yelling at them in frustration and talking to at least five different people.. they handed me to a manager at their CS center somewhere in India. The guy basically said.."So I understand you want to cancel your order?".. I'm like are you serious? You're not going to even attempt to fix the problem YOU created and you're going to gladly cancel an order and cost your company 5 grand? At that point, I just said yes. Go ahead. I'm never dealing with Dell ever again. Also, Dell doesn't sell Alienware in retail stores anymore. It's amazing that they stay in business.
MSI makes a sweet new laptop with a steel series gaming keyboard, MSI GT780R. It has matte screen, steel series gaming keyboard which is color changeable and some other cool features.
As for which laptop in your title, thats kinda hard question that only you can make. The Asus G53 is a sweet laptop though, not my taste with the stealth figher plane design but I would own one in a second If I had spare cash lying around.
