Dead Island Movie Now A Real Thing

firefly2003firefly2003 Member UncommonPosts: 2,527

Lionsgate has purchased the rights to make a Dead Island film based purely on the hype generated by the impressive trailer.

The announcement was made today and Lionsgate had very little to say about the content of the game, but focused heavily on how many times the trailer was viewed online and how many publications called it the best trailer ever. Lionsgate’s co-COO and Motion Picture Group President Joe Drake said, “This is exactly the type of property we’re looking to adapt at Lionsgate – it’s sophisticated, edgy, and a true elevation of a genre that we know and love.  It also has built in brand recognition around the world, and franchise potential.”

Lionsgate has no concrete plans on directors or actors at the moment, but they do have Sean Daniel producing who was involved in films like The Mummy, Tombstone, and Dazed and Confused.

A trailer alone is kind of a huge leap to make into a movie, not sure I want to be the guy that made that call when judgement day comes for the final product.  Very big gamble, particularly given the stellar success rate of video game movies.

    What?

Your blog is nothing more than news articles and stories that you have lifted from other sites, and not given the original authors or journalists any credit. I checked it out and it's basically a big bowl of plagarism.

You need to develop your own sources if you actually want to be seriously involved in any journalistic aspect of covering news, regardless of the subject the news relates to, and you really should stop trying to take credit for other people's work.

EDIT: Ok, you occassionally give credit where it's due. But that doesn't change the fact that you are advertising your blog on this site and leading people to believe that the news on it has been gathered by you.

OnTopic: I'd go see the movie, can't get enough zombie apoc.

All I can think of is House of the Dead, OMG that movie was worse than the mario movie.

I wish the game was as good as the trailers.

If I get something off another site because they get it before me, or have a connection I do not have, I ALWAYS give credit. That being said, you have no idea where I get my info that I DO NOT specify, most of it is from the horses mouth.

I never thought of that, but i agree with that idea. Since the daughter killed her father it would be a good twist if it was a movie. I think that they look like a trailer for a movie more than a game.

That cinematic trailer was good. I was hyped to download the game after I saw that clip. I think it Would be an amazing film with a deep storyline. Gonna wait to this movie till it comes out. image
