I'm doing a break on my main mmorpg, so i decided to try others. Im kind a curious, not a hard core gamer (24h/day), but some time/day, i enjoy solo, but beeing in party/group it's fantastic too, especialy in instances, high dificulty quests or even the confusion of a raid or just to pvp
I am asking what do you think about the game.
1. Does it have party/group needed for quests/instances? Or mainly a solo game?
2. Beside tank and healer, which are the prefered class's dd/dps and cc? But realy wich ones and why?
3. In pvp servers (i noticed that allready ^-^), is there open agressive pvp, or mainly between guilds?
4. In pvp, is there much high lvls gank low lvls?
I have much more to ask, but this would be great if i get an answear. Besides these, plz post your experince in the game.

From what I experienced:
1. easily solo to cap aside from dungeons and group quests.
2. CC is an afterthought aside from PvP, as far as max DPS it really depends on the patch as classes are constantly being nerfed/buffed due to PvP.
3. PvP is available as soon as you get out of the newbie zone. As with most PvE games with PvP servers there will always be ganking.
4. Absolutely, but there are free server transfers so just level up on a PvE server then transfer over to a PvP server once you're geared.
Personally I enjoyed my overall experience with the game and I really like the Soul Tree system and how easy it was to group with people and have fun doing zone-wide events & raid rifts. However there were a lot of things that annoyed me. Like how linear and solo-orientated the quests are; in that you go to a zone, complete all the quest you can, then move on the the next zone. Rinse & Repeat. Now try doing that 4 times without getting bored. Also the game focuses too much on gear-progression that it takes out actual skill from the game. All you really need is the gear and to just not suck, in order to succeed.
Well at least Rift is a good filler MMO until the big boys come out.
"TO MICHAEL!"
if you like a polished game almost good as WoW , Rift its for you, if you want new features and new kind of quests and a game full of lore forget it, and pvp on this game its even worse than WoW
1-49 can be fun if you do it with friends. 50+ is a nightmare if your a PvPer. Everyone is already rank 8 PVP just about and you WILL get facerolled and fustrated your entire way to R8. There is nothing you can do about it either. Gear difference is tremendous. If your a PVEer, I couldn't tell you.
"In the immediate future, we have this one, and then weve got another one that is actually going to be so were going to have, what we want to do, is in January, what were targeting to do, this may or may not happen, so you cant hold me to it. But what were targeting to do, is have a fun anniversary to the Ilum shenanigans that happened. An alien race might invade, and they might crash into Ilum and there might be some new activities that happen on the planet." ~Gabe Amatangelo
Guys thanks a lot for the replys. Im getting all the info i needed.
Just another thing, the rank for pvp, is geting kills or is there anything else to achive?
TY
There is also a pvp soul that as you go up the ranks will open more pvp option on the soul.
To rank up in Rift's PvP, you do that by earning Prestiege (at lvl 50) and you do that by completing PvP objectives (killing players, completing PvP quests, capturing points, etc.)
I gave a try with a bit pressure from a friend of mine. Entered in a pve shard.
Than more doubts apeared:
- What shoul be my main activitie? Rifts, Quests, Warfronts, Dailys,...
I want to get a nive pvp char, but of course pve is a must in this game. Help needed
I liked what i saw in beta, especially the class tree system. It was very advanced. The mounts were nice as well and they handled stealth properly (a big thing for me because i love playing stealthy toons). I liked it the only downfall for them in my eyes was it is sub only. I avoid sub only games because usually even though they are earning alot they tend not to put out new content quickly, they make you play a crazy amount of extra time just to keep your sub going for little things like rep grind/gear grind, and they tend not to be a good investment in what you can earn for your character at the endgame. I learned this the hard way when i left World of Warcraft to try other games (the other games were free to play so it stung a little when i found out that it didn't take six months to earn the gear my toons deserved). Other then that, the friends i have who do play it love the game. I personally just won't be going back to any game that is sub only in the future.
I'd say its one of the better titles on the market at the moment. It is a good filler for me till gw2 at least.
Personally I thought the game was well done and polished. It has decent character customization, good graphics, plenty of quests, and "rifts" to tackle. Little to no pvp but i do hear they are bringing it in. IMO you wont be too disappointed trying it out. it's up to you if you stick around.
***Dances with many beautiful high Elf ladies!***
All my opinions are just that..opinions. If you like my opinions..coolness.If you dont like my opinion....I really dont care.
Playing: ESO, WOT, Smite, and Marvel Heroes
If the rabbit recomends it, its good enough for me Can you recomend a good server? I mainly PVE.
Edit: D/loading the trial now. I dont know if that limits server selecion or not.
Really? This game sucks and Im not having fun? Im going to unsub right now. Thanks for the tip.
I just resubbed today. Personally, i enjoy it more than any game on the market right now and ill be playing it until GW2.
Pick a high pop PVE server. Look here: http://www.riftserverstatus.com/
I picked Wolfsbane (a few sights said it was high pop) and saw lots of people. I am new to the game too though, so would love to hear from a vet on a good server.
I absolutely loved the game during beta. It wasn't quite what I was looking for at the time, but that didn't stop me from recognizing it's good points. The game was polished and pretty, which goes a long way. I enjoyed the rifts and the impromptu grouping, it was an absolute riot! I hate raiding, hate dealing with putting together groups, but this really made it fun.
I was very impressed with the dev team and how responsive they were to feedback, as well.
I don't mean this in a bad way, but it's like WoW... WoW with more open classes... way better graphics.. a better crowd of people playing... new worlds, new stories, and engaging lore... and some dynamic content thrown on top!
I checked and there are lots of high pop PVE US servers. Thank you for the help.
Really? This game sucks and Im not having fun? Im going to unsub right now. Thanks for the tip.
I'm a bit confused with all those vendors with diferent currencies. Wich shoul i bet, the pvp coins, the rift coins...
Help needed. ^-^
I think its the best game going right now.. much better than wow, mainly because the user base seems to be much more mature.. As for what to do, it can be alot to figure out at first. I soloed to 50, but i watched people in my guild lvl over twice as fast by doing random dungeons all the way up.
P.S.do a search for duracell cleric build... if you like killing unlimited mobs at a time and going non stop:)
I think that combined with the open-world rifts and ability to auto-group for participation and the frequency of those open-world (non-instanced) raid-type encounters and game-play is what leaves Rift as the only themepark game on the market that does better justice to the mmorpg tag/definition, compared to its' competition.
Well you get all the souls eventually anyway, (I think you buy them with 20 gold each nowadays) so don't worry too much about it,
But for the different currency, just remember you don't need all of them to advance, basically
PvP favor, is bascially for pvp players to buy gears, whether from warfront to other forms of pvp
Planeite (from rifts) is basically to unlock planar goods, it is semi important to most players since it includes a high variety of items. It includes things like comsumables to gears, world events rewards, and even crafting.
There are also world event tokens, which are used to redeem events rewards, gears, runes and pets
I think they merge two of the similar currency together, I haven't been at endgame too long so I haven't had a chance to look deeply into it
How much WoW could a WoWhater hate, if a WoWhater could hate WoW?
As much WoW as a WoWhater would, if a WoWhater could hate WoW.
I do agree with the majority of the other posts in this thread, at the moment Rift is probably the most entertaining MMORPG around. It has its flaws, of course, but the soul system is really well done and gives you a lot to think about.
One suggestion: don't look up in the web for the "best build" in town, just try to figure it out for yourself, I'm having a blast with this aspect of the game. Also I think, if you're in this kind of things, that art design and graphics are absolutely wonderful.
I'll be definitely playing Rift at least until SWTOR is out :-)
I've only just started playing so here is my take on it.
1. There are instances which require groups, you can use a instance finder too. There are some quests which i have noticed in my log that require a quest. Which if you go to your instance finder, click the quests tab and search for a group for that particular quest.
2. I'm not that experienced with the game that much so i couldn't tell you, but i do know the mage has a soul called Dominator for CC.
3 and 4. No idea sorry.
Playing RIFT for me simply because it's latest new mmo out is like choosing the next to last guy on the wall waiting for Dodgeball, and thinking you made out because you didn't get stuck with the worst guy.
Going to consoles until SWTOR and other mmos next year:
Battlefield 3
Gears of War 3
Rage
Dark Souls
Deus Ex: HR
Resistance 3
Batman: Arkham City
etc, etc.. just too many new games (and old ones I didn't try yet like Witcher 2 still) to pay for an average mmos right now.
"TO MICHAEL!"
Ok so i am playing it for a week ^-^...
Definitily the soul system is great, we can create a pure dd/dps and few lvls away turn it to a tank. It's great.
But the idea that is all the way lvl game... omg no. It's a top lvl game, and nothing else. We must reach 50, rank 8 (i think) in pvp, and then you get the idea. Meanwhile, you get distracted with raid rifts, warfronts, dungeons and a superboring quest system.
I'll tell more in a few days.
Btw, im using an eu shard, "icewatch", and i did inspect it, it wasn't full, but i think it has enough population.
