Well it depends on the zone. Often it takes some skill/luck to avoid drawing lots of further aggro as you sprint away and forget about running in dungeons. Anyway I'm no big fan of EQ2 so won't defend it too much.
I guess in the end I agree with anarchyart and I ask the same question: why put down a game that others enjoy? What is the point in doing that? There's room enough for all kinds of games. If you are truly a lover of mmorpgs, it seems that it should bring you pleasure to see people enjoy the game they are playing, whether it is a game you yourself enjoy or not. Instead, people seem to be upset when they see someone enjoying another game. Why? That just seems silly.
It benefits us all that WoW has made such a big splash. That game has the potential of bringing the spotlight on all mmorpgs and thus benefitting all of them. It brings new people into the mmo world, and those people may decide to try the game we love and that is a good thing.

It's something bigger than graphics or gameplay or technical aspects. Something not found in the game code or in artists renderings. It's something behind the scenes that keeps you wanting to see what's around the next corner. It's the big picture and the smallest detail in one. Something that keeps you interested even when you don't know what you should do next. You either have it or you don't and it can't be truly defined and its 100% opinion.

I agree with how you discribe soul. But you really can't be talking about HZ? If you were you would not have picked up BF2 and not played HZ in the last 7 days. Or maybe the game just doesn't have that much soul. Seems you have more soul in stating things about a game you don't even play right now. This really confuses me.

The implication of that would be to never say anything negative about any game at all. Would make for pretty boring forums if we all agreed with one another wouldn't you say? Surely you have an opinion of WOW (assuming you've tried it). If the game is worthwhile it should be able to withstand any forum slings and arrows.
I guess substantive disagreement and discussion and constructive criticism is one thing.
Repeating and rehashing the old tired stuff, dissing a game by categorizing it as "the fisher price of mmo's," and just making blanket statements like "it's boring and tedious and just a grind" when that is really not how the people who enjoy it feel -- those things are not helpful to anyone.

Battlefield 2 surpasses all gaming, RPG or not. It is buggy as hell right now, but even if Vanguard came out right now it would be sad, because I just can't play anything but BF2. It's beyond fun. Beyond gaming. It is a carnival ride from heaven with enough explosions to leave Duke Nuke 'em grasping for his heart medication and enough gameplay, tactics, vehicles and possibilities to please the most hardcore strategy fan.

I've quite explicitly explained why I find Hz tedious and grindy. Short of coding the changes I'd like myself it'd be hard to get more constructively critical. Most people didn't enjoy Hz for very long at least. The subscriber numbers speak for themselves.
The thing that troubles me in an mmo is when I can't bring myself to log on because I can't think of a single thing that I feel like doing. My experience in Horizons is that there is always a lot to do when I log in. I can build, I can craft or I can hunt. And I can try different schools if I want to without even re rolling.
Also I have found it easier to make friends in Horizons than in other games. So it is sometimes so busy just goofing with friends that I forget about time.
Thus I have not felt the grind in this game at all.

The lair system is nearing completion, and is going to the art people soon. They've already posted some teaser pics on the community site (posted quite a while ago, really).
Seems that support for the lairs has been there for a long time, but the construction interface was a real mess, so they redid it and are making sure it's being done right.
