LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity. I am, usually on the sandbox .. more "hardcore" side of things, but I also do just want to have fun. So lighten up already
Damond enters the room, he reeks of cheap perfume and bad boos...He casts a ravenous gaze upon the pathetic inhabitants that populate this place. Hiking his skirt ever higher..he goes to work, business will be good tonight.
Zaush casually walks into the cantina, "Hey Mack! Cup a Jawa juice!" gazes over the crowd of regular low lifes and outer rim scum. " Here you go Zaush" the young flirtatious Twi'Lek says, "How's business?" "Not bad, just looking around for my mark. Goes by Isturi. Ever heard of him?" "yeah {frowning} he comes in from time to time. Always mumbling about the stupid RPers." "Not for much longer" Zaush says laughingly.
Then you can just walk in grab your quest and leave in peace, I don't see what the big deal is if some guys want to goof around in the cantina or how it could reduce the quality of your grind to 50 experience.

I thought the cantina was awesome in SWG. I don't remember any overt, out-of-place cybering going on during my time in SWG, but it's a catina so it should be expected to happen. I wish more games would produce social hubs for players. That's one thing I missed in WoW and in EQ2. Even though there are taverns in both of these games, it seems that no one hangs out in them anymore.
I miss that aspect of my early online days in MUDs and MUSHes. I spent so much of my time chatting RPing with other players, almost as much as I spent dungeon crawling heh.
Why would anyone go to a cantina? I bet you will go inside it for a couple standard quests and thats it.
This, the rp players that played music and danced in swg made it a hangout on a few planets and that was one of the cool aspects.
You should also mention that cantinas were vital to SWG because: A) that's where all the entertainer clique went to in order to get experience/money and because entertainers could heal mental fatigue and give buffs, everyone decided to stick around in cantinas, effectively making them a vital part of the ingame economy. It was mechanically encouraged by the game systems and it helped foster that mindset in the long run.
Random building designated as "cantina" with nothing but quest givers inside just won't have the same feeling.
Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.
If you are asking what is a cantina rent or buy Star War a new hope about half way into the movie you find out. lol
And ty for the correction. (Blushing)
"You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy" - Obi Wan
Sorry, that quote is for Mos Eisley not the cantina. We were just lucky enough to see some of the scum and villainy in the cantina, since that's where a good portion hang
And if you're worried about a bunch of half naked sith dancing on the tables then you should distinguish what you mean by roleplaying, as that and what most may consider RPing in a cantina are pretty much two differant spectrums of RPing
As long as they don't interfere with me burning through quests, skipping quest text and cut-scenes, and rushing my way to level cap...
So I can sit back and complain that the game had no content.

Totally agree, the first MMO I tried after SWG in 05 was VG:SOH. When I walked into a tavern and it was empty except for one or two NPC's my reaction was WTH?!?! I never did find that spot people just hung out at in that game, I'm not sure there was one. Which saddened me, to me it was a sign of what was to come.
I haven't seen anything like SWG's cantina's in any game that's come after.

Just stay away from the cantina, how hard is that. People like you in general are what ruins many mmo's. This isnt a console rpg game its a MMORPG. I hope its crammed pack like the old days in SWG. I want tons of people interacting, why i choose a mmo over a console rpg. I dont RP, but i dont see what it would hurt to see a few dozen do their thing. They pay to play, shouldnt try to harm their play style because you dont like it.

The Prancing Pony in Lotro
I never played SWG but that was the most RP infested hang out I ever encountered in a game.
Just stay away from the cantina, how hard is that. People like you in general are what ruins many mmo's.
I think the whole idea behind the OP was sarcasm. A parody of haters trying to pick apart anything and everything about a game in order to justify their significant dislike for it.
edit: I could be wrong about this. Just my impression from it.

Wasnt attacking the op, just saying many people with statements like that, to me ruin mmo's. So many people want dumbed down mmo's and it boggles my mind why. I want every feature possible in mmo's and cant believe so many argue and fight over small features. I guess people just need something to stir up things.

No it wasn't.
The poster's other posts are quite questionable if you choose to see it. Which of course you don't because he is a SWTOR fan as are you.
As long as you both agree, it's all fun and games. The moment the poster might reveal themselves to be not to your tastes, then it's all, "Oh no, must be parody".
Puh-lease. You're going to get these sorts of people in your game who play for different reasons than you do. All the "kiddies", the anti-RP, the anti-story people - the people you SWTOR shippers hope to lose will be on board with you, I promise. BiowarEA is actively pursuing them to do just that after all.
Also, lmao at your usage of "hater". Can't stand the fact that there may be people who can apply analytical and critical thinking to this game?? Just because someone doesn't think the sun shines out of SWTOR doesn't make them a "hater". (How I loath to use that puerile term)
"Never argue with a fool; onlookers may not be able to tell the difference."
Major reason I am concern about it is that in KotOR the Catina was used as a quest hub
Setting aside your irrational fear of naked sith... The cantina in TOR has already been stated to be a social hub and not a quest hub so you have zero to worry about. Whether you still want to look for quests there while pretending not to look at the naked Hutts making out is up to you.
Yeah who wants half naked dancing Sith, give me the half naked dancing Hutts, well I guess they can't really dance but they could undulate a bit!
I just hope that the Cantina on each planet don't get over crowded with gamers who only want to RP or ERP for that matter. I feel that it will bring TOR down if such players wind up doing this. After all that is why I avoided Goldshire in WoW. I am fearing that this will be the case with TOR at each of the planets. I do realize that there will be RP realms but from previous experience that don't mean much and in reality it seems that pvp players prefer to utilize RP realms on other MMO's, Major reason I am concern about it is that in KotOR the Cantina was used as a quest hub and all we need are a bunch of half naked sith dancing on the tables. [Mod Edit]
That is the beauty of hope... It ser4ves you even in face of outmost defeat.
It most defently will be roleplayers in the cantinas... And with them saddly comes the ERP (or just horny brats, as most of the people ERP;ing in the open care about this much . about actuall roleplay and just want to sport imature crap and "touch the bweebs/joystick" and this goes for both genders.
But you might as well hope to go out in to the rain and not get wet.

Considering cantinas are where PvP and social gear vendors are located I expect cantinas to be a high traffic area.
cantina = goldshire

I think the ERPers will be busy trying to romance their NPCs behind closed doors. :P
Seriously though. It's an MMO. People other than you play it. Expect every thing.

I dont mind RP'ers if they arent too hardcore and if they respect people that dont RP they have all my respect.
Ill be honest i rather see RP'ers dancing and having fun than PvP'ers nerd raging with /Duel and epeen trashtalk.
I'm pretty sure OP is not being serious. I can't think of one negative to RP in a MMORPG unless they could somehow force everyone to RP with them.
And I have no idea what happened in Goldshire (I didn't play that side).

But seriously...its an RPG!!!!!!!!!

I don't even RP and I agree here, It added a nice atmosphere to SWG IMO.

Playing MUDs and MMOs since 1994.
*confused is*
But let me try this ...

I need to take this advice more.
I just hope that players like OP go back to playing their console games and leave people who like ROLEPLAYING GAMES (that's RPG for you, OP), alone.
"Only in quiet waters do things mirror themselves undistorted.
Only in a quiet mind is adequate perception of the world."

the more RPers = better world immersion (even for non-RPers)
players that do not want/accept that = ex-wow players (mostly in the age range 15-25)
That's of course my own personal opinion.Thank you

This have been a good conversation
Oh my......once again the Super Limited, Uber Collector's Edition "Hutt Quiver Emote" clears out the entire Cantina.
Best $350 I ever spent.
