This game looks to be vary good probably a scifi mmorg i will stick with i think all the other ones are boring =/.
I just hope it will have pvp anywhere but safe zones like towns and have pvp rules sorta like Lin2 and cool reasons to pvp like Mourning. Battle grounds should be an option in my opinion like Arenas in lin2. I hope this game wont be mostly like guild wars i want a open world not just missions and arena combat.

I hope there is no PvP allowed at all. That style of play can hurt the feelings of people who are attacked and it isn't necessary... so let's stick to killing monsters!
actually its mainly the pvp gamers which complain, the pve ones just have fun lol.
Qoute: "I neva *ucked anybody over in my life, who didn't have it comin' to 'im, you got that? All I have in this world is my balls, and my word, and I don't break 'em for no one, jou understand?" Tony Montana
Hurt feelings are no concern, but PVP does cause problems. i think PVP is fun if its CONSENTUAL. ganking and griefing must be totally eliminated from these online games. its ridiculous. any sort of fair, competative pvp that involves 2 or more players that actually WANT to engage in PVP is great for a game, but totally open PVP just opens the door for idiots and griefers to come in and ruin everybody's fun.
p.s. kill all pirates
The Army is for noobs.
You have GOT to be kidding me.
This is what really confuses me..... why the heck do people who play mmorpg's play for the PVE. If you want a game that is really great about pve and exploring then play Morrowind. Its a great game, and has better "monster killing" than any mmo out today.
Personally, I like to tweak my toon to my liking and then use my strengths and weaknesses and strategy against someone elses strengths, weaknesses and strategy. Its fun!
I agree that griefing can put a dent in the fun of others but if its that kind of game, where there is free for all pvp, then you can go and get revenge after you level up.
If you like pvp but only like it on your terms, imo there is only one game that did that well. DAOC
DAOC just doesnt have small battlegrounds--they have HUGE battlegrounds and later in game RvR.
Great pvp system.
Maybe in 10 years the gaming community will have come far enough to make online games that have great exploration potential and pve. Until then, pvp is what keeps me going.
Gotta pitch my 2 in here.
PvP is fine as long as it is consentual. I hate having to keep checking my six to see if someone X levles higher than me has had a bad day and is gonna take it out on me.
Consentual PvP also eliminates the creeps that want the 'Camp' / area / resourse you are hunting / exploring / farming at the moment and gank you to get it.
I'm fine with no PvP. To those of you that wonder why we want a MMO with no PvP? We like to take on challenges with our friends. Hard to do that with most off line type games. We had hopes that Planetside would have had a PvE and PvP side to it, but it got dropped when the game went to Beta.
Hope the Devs takes all the best of both systems and makes a great game.
Umm, thats kinda the point of PvP....
Usually they have a dialog box that enables you to go PvP from PvE status, so its your fault.
I dont see a reason for PVP in this game.... It doesnt seem too fit the "fluff". From all I have read, its humans verse aliens.... a huge war. Why would you bother fighting other humans, if your fighting for the survival of your race agains an alien menace.
As far as PVP goes, its fine as long as its optional.... as it should always be. Not everyones idea of a fun time is going up against other people. A majority of players are the of the grouping with friends kind, and PVE.
If TR is planning for PVP, the only way i think it would be remotely interesting is if they let players play as BANE and fight againts the human players.
Heya
I report here what I wrote on another forum, on a similar subject

I really like PvP, it offers an alternative gameplay source. But PvE is good as well: the "stupid A.I." really doesn't matter. In single-player CRPGs, you deal all the time with "stupid A.I.". What really cares is how good are the scripted events that eventually lead to the PvE confrontation.
If it's a stupid (but necessary, at least to learn the mechanics at the beginning) fed-ex mission and if most Quests are too similar to each other, I agree, it's a waste. In other words, it's what LB says when he talks about the fact that outside the safe zones the enemies just stand there, waiting for you :P
But from what we gathered so far, it seems that TR will go for a more dynamic and diverse system, where approach to PvE is different; that would be an enormous step ahead for MMOGs, because so far, even the latest role-models (WoW and EQ2) have those dull MOBs outside roaming the land like there is no tomorrow :P
