That right up there is a difference between flying in a Frigate and sucking in a Frigate and nothing else what-so-ever.
What is there a fine art to using a MWD to get close enough to turn on your scramblers?
Or a fine art to setting your orbit distance to 100m and turning on your afterburners?
Is there a fine art to approaching at a 30 degree angle or whatever to offset the transverse?
It's not rocket science lol, it's simply bad game design that pretty much forces you to either get into a Battleship or bigger to compete or have to 100% be stuck in a very specific role that is boring as sin?
Oh wait, I guess I could try scouting again.... READING LOCAL CHAT omg so complex. DIRECTIONAL SCANNING omg so complex.
Or hey, dropping random warp-to points in a system.... SO COMPLEX THIS GAME IS FOR GENIUS ONLY
Bumping people out of cloak... zomg what amazing game design CCP!
"One massive open galaxy" yeah right more like thousands of instanced systems with only a handful of ways in or out that are camped to death and a community that actively prevents new players from enjoying THEIR game.
FUN!
LOL.
It's probably in your best interest to make less posts like this one and just stick to the topic of the thread. Many people who don't "get" EVE or find it to not match up with their tastes still have respect for what CCP has acomplished with their game. Good luck

Absolutely there is a fine art to it. If players are preventing you from enjoying the game you can do one of to things. Lie down like a bitch and take it or find a way around it. It is easy to find a way around it, you just didn't look hard enough.
It is a shame you do not play, you would probably just be feeding me kills.
If CCP was really serious about EVE then they'd turn Incarna into a real part of the game instead of letting it languish as a side minigame.
CCP has a history of releasing a new game system, then ignoring it completely. I think they should fix, upgrade, and expand all of the game systems they currently have before they release anything new. That's why it's good to see factional warfare on that list. Hopefully Incarna gets put on that list one day and the decide to make it a real part of the game.
What CCP should do is getting rid of the nex, forget about Dust and make EvE the game it once has been, again.
but as you can see, customers still have a say if enough people are quitting even the damn suits will notice it. I.e. another company introducing appearance gear and now CCP becoming humbler.
We need a MMORPG Cataclysm asap, finish the dark age of MMORPGS now!
"Everything you're bitching about is wrong. People don't have the time to invest in corpse runs, impossible zones, or long winded quests. Sometimes, they just want to pop on and play." "Then maybe MMORPGs aren't for you."
Hybrid weapons balancing - Has been needed for a long time since they buffed projectiles
Factional warfare - Was never finished in the first place, years over due
Assault ships - Was announced a year+ ago that AF's would be getting some kind of bonus
Capital ship balancing - Big ole "duh" here. Supercap changes put in a while ago were op then, took them quite a while to do anything
These changes are great, if they can somehow pull them off. All of them were needed a long time ago, but we got walking around in a 200 sq. ft area instead. I will be grateful if they can accomplish just one of these changes well, but my expectations are very low after the last couple years. I still love Eve and I am not going anywhere, but I may be taking one of my nice vacations from the game due to the stagnant nature of it atm, unitl some of these changes actually go live.
CCP's words mean nothing. It is only their actions that speak. All i see in my head when I read those words by Hellmar is "BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH".
Oh and you can be a small freighter pilot in EVE if that is what you want, except it seems that what you want is to be able to be a small freighter pilot who can go toe to toe with capital ships...
Never toe to toe, just want to be able to slip by and/or make a run for it. Do some actual smuggling etc.
But no, instead locked/scrambled/pod-killed.
Gate camps 24/7 preventing people from getting into Null Sec? Community shooting itself in the foot much?
Why stay in a Frigate or other small, fun ship when a larger ship can just deploy 5+ drones that have more armor, shield, hull as well as speed and dps then you'll ever have?
Hey, I could tackle and fast-orbit (sit and spin) and do nothing to anyone ever but be a nuisance!
Fun...
I want a game where a squadron of smaller ships is a threat any large ship should fear and thus the larger ships have to have escorts, not god-like Drones.
Drones ruined EvE for me, completely.
I was all like.. YAY I finally got into a cruiser! Hurray! Let's finish this epic story arc.... oh wait, I need drones to fight these drones because I can't hit anything? WTF? Quit #1
Then a tried to come back, played for a bit longer (2nd time subbing for a few months) got into a battle cruiser - wanted to play with friends in null sec but I couldn't afford to replace my Bcruiser if I lost it (and they all said to never fly anything worth any money towards a gate camp) and then they told me "just buy PLESK" it was either that or grind missions...
OK so how about just try doing cheap frigates and tackling? 3 tries to get into null sec all pod killed... ok friend with a Jump drive ship/freighter could get me into null sec "safely."
3 weeks on "roams" with.... 1 pvp fight, MWD + scrams, fast orbit, drone's 1 shot me and dude jumped away my friends in BS/BCS/logistics said "that's EvE"
Quit and deinstalled.
WHAT. A. JOKE.
You seem mad. Play some more Eve so I can read more great posts like this please.
If CCP was really serious about EVE then they'd turn Incarna into a real part of the game instead of letting it languish as a side minigame.
If CCP Was serious about EvE, they would never have wasted the time and money on Incarna in the first place. This is a game about spaceships. Not a game about barbiedolls.
Well, you can look at this a few ways. Hellmar either has truly realized his mistake and had a "come to Jesus" moment and started thinking about all the noise from the fanbase concerning EvE issues. Or.......he is paying lipservice and promising much needed stuff with an apology is his way of stopping/slowing the tide of "eve is dying" that is so prevalent..."appparently".
I personally think it's a bit of both. Introducing new font, hybrid weapon rebalancing, and a few others have been needed for over 2 years now or more...ask me..I'm caldari and trained rails/blasters first in 2006 when a thorax with a rack of t2 heavies was actually something to be feared. I also believe with WoD and Dust coming soon...he needs to treat his main source of income with a bit more TLC.
I'm still playing..but I might be taking a break soon. Most vets do. I always judge my return to New Eden based on my desire to play there and with whom I'm playing with. If my corp stops and/or I stop being interested...I'll move on. It's almost a pity leaving after so long as you have to learn so much about this game to actually position yourself in advantageous spot across several different interests simultaneously.
As I always will believe...let's see what happens. Words are good, actions are better. It's a good first start. If you choose to remain skeptical, yet hopeful...then you are probably still playing. If you chose to be skeptical and bitter..then find a new game.
On a side note..the earlier comment about frigs and destroyers getting one or two shotted by drones shows how little that players knowledge base contains. Drones are SUPPOSED to kill smaller ships because the BS's guns can't track them. If you knew anything about transversal velocity in game you'd know that. Your lack of pvp mechanics makes for an embarrasing, yet mildly entertaining read. Please go on. It would be helpful if you prefaced your posts with the following warning....
*note...I only played EvE a few months and in that few months I trained to fly a frig, cruiser, destroyer and a battleship. I therefore am an authority on these ships.
Being as a few months only would allow you to reach minimum level SKILLPOINT- wise, much less PLAYER KNOWLEDGE- wise your complaints, truths, and comparisons are that of someone that had little investment in the pvp experience overall.

You try mining, the asteroids are mined out from bots and ore prices are too low.
You try mission running, you get stuck doing the exact same mission over and over for hours with very little progression.
You try exploring, it takes hours to get from Point A to Point B. You try to visit a new faction or NPC in low sec. and you get gang raped/ griefed as soon as you jump in.
To top it off, it takes literally 4 years to get enough skill points to be competitive. And then when you finally max something out, you get griefed and lose your points. So back to my first point:
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein "Graphics are often supplied by Engines that (some) MMORPG's are built in" - Spuffyre

CCP is re-adding ship spinning? Seriously? Wow, that only makes me want to play EVE even less if they are going to cave in to the whining brats who want a devolved IP that is no more original than "Dark Orbit" or some other Facebook lame excuse for inovative gaming.
''Hybrid weapons balancing'' ?? I hope to get them better and not to nerf them because they are already weak. But it is nice what he said and true fans will always love this game. I hope it wil be better for solo player.
He still seems convinced that deep down players want an item shop (or that they can be made to want it by some combination of vanity and peer pressure).
Ah well, I'm a solo non-PvPer, so it always felt like Eve was always a strange place to find me in the first place.
edit: I do have a lot of respect the act of humility and for the efforts of all involved in the game (on both the developer and player side). It is a remarkable game all around that continues to have amazing potential.
None. Probably why Eve has lived so long and why it will continue to live.
It's nice to see them re-focus their efforts on things that players have been asking for for the last 3-4 years and for them to slow the pace of new *shinies* and polish the turds they've left behind to rot.
Also, LOL new font after it was requested what, 7 years ago?
None. Probably why Eve has lived so long and why it will continue to live.
Actually, there have been a few apologies from leads, though they tend to be made by those resigning (Mythic and Funcom come to mind).

Sucks to be you I guess.

I thought you just wanted to fly about in a basic frigate with low skills or that bcruiser it took you ages to get.. If you want to zip about nullsec perhaps you need to put a bit more time and effort into the game?
Why stay in a Frigate or other small, fun ship when a larger ship can just deploy 5+ drones that have more armor, shield, hull as well as speed and dps then you'll ever have?
Lol no. Try filling out your resitance holes on the ship against the drones once in a while.
Hey, I could tackle and fast-orbit (sit and spin) and do nothing to anyone ever but be a nuisance!

Is it really that hard to stick a couple of drones into your bay if you have crammed your ship with heavy/slow tracking weapons? It sounds like you are crying because the weapons you have fitted wont work optimally against every type of target.
It takes next to no time to get into a bcruiser and have the money to run one and replace one (insurance helps btw lol). That is without buying plex. Really sounds like you are making bold statements about a game with having next to no experience in it.
OK so how about just try doing cheap frigates and tackling? 3 tries to get into null sec all pod killed... ok friend with a Jump drive ship/freighter could get me into null sec "safely."
Oh no, you needed someone to help you (as a noob) get into the hardest and most contested region of the game which top end players fight over? That sounds just terrible....
3 weeks on "roams" with.... 1 pvp fight, MWD + scrams, fast orbit, drone's 1 shot me and dude jumped away my friends in BS/BCS/logistics said "that's EvE"
Sounds like a good group you had there.
Quit and deinstalled.
WHAT. A. JOKE.
Indeed.
Tbh zipping about in a frigate is fine and viable, but what you seemed to want to do was head on over into nullsec and take on drone carrying battleships as a total noob. No wonder you quit and uninstalled.

After 3 months of Eve (small timeframe i know) i feel that new players are cannon fodder for any1 with better gun skills tank skills fly skills.
i tried to pvp in Rifter / and similar classes but got asskicked way to much
The long road to be effective in Eve shows no mercy for newer players and i hope something gets done so that its about skill and not Skill points.
Offcourse older players should have a little advantage but the diffrence is just way to big.
Doing Missions is getting boring
Mining is even more boring
So getting ISK to fund your ships and equips are hard for me to keep trying to pvp.
Going from 0.5 to 0.4 is losing ship in 15 minutes :P
Happend to me 4 times in a row now so i stopped going to low sec to save money and do boring shit to pass time.
Not in a Corp yet as most require a high SP character or they try to scam you -_-
Hope some stuff get changed for younger pilots so they have more fun exploring low sec / null sec.
Still i think Eve is one of the better mmo's out there, its a hard world and i like it
