The Everquest II team has announced the release of the Dungeon Finder tool. Saying, "You asked. We delivered.", the new feature is live across EQ II servers as of today.
More Information about Dungeon Finder:
Players must be level 20 or higher to use this feature.
Mentoring cannot be used with the Dungeon Finder.
If a group finishes a Dungeon Finder dungeon, the group leader can queue for another dungeon using the "queue group" button.
If a player's critical mitigation value is lower than the dungeon's recommended value, the dungeon will be grayed out and they will not be able to queue for that dungeon.
If a player has a lockout timer on a dungeon, that dungeon will also be grayed out and they will not be able to queue for that dungeon.

now that social interaction is completely dead on all platforms ...
LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity.
I am, usually on the sandbox .. more "hardcore" side of things, but I also do just want to have fun. So lighten up already
meaningful polite Social interaction in MMOs died long ago. Be thankul if others respond to a "hello" upon enter the dungeons. About the new feature...
Dungeon Finder is server-wide only. It will not pull payers from other servers.
Mentoring cannot be used with the Dungeon Finder.
Arent these points gimping this feature from the get go? for people on low population or top heavy(level) servers who can never find enough people to group with for dungeons doesnt this and the no mentoring make this feature practicly usless?
If we could find enough like leveled people to group with on our home servers we wouldnt need this tool to start with.

Thought social interaction was the actual group process... not the standing out side the zone spamming /1 LOOKING FOR x CLASS for 2 hours.
Yet another MMO to uninstall off of my computer.....
Currently Playing: DAOC Uthgard
Previously Played: UO, DAOC, Shadowbane, AC2, SWG, Horizons, COX, WOW, EQ2, LOTRO, AOC, WAR, Vanguard, Rift, SWTOR, ESO, GW2.
And to start a thread about how a game was never made for you, right?
I didn't start a thread. I posted my opinion in an existing thread. This is a MMO forum site.....that's what it's here for...opinions, ya know.

It came off more of a Fact not an opinion, imo.
It shouldn't be all that hard to figure out what my opinion of dungeon finders is by reading my post....

Mmmm, I might try this game now!
is server wide only? oh well , there is a lfg (that no1 uses) ,and spam channells =S ,
no mentoring ? wth
You'd think so .. but it isn't.
As someone said .. at least this one isn't x-server. I have no problem with something that makes finding a group easier, but immersion and cohesion is completely lost in a system where you are thrown into a group with 4 other complete strangers you have a very low chance of meeting again because they are on a different sever. MMOs used to be about a sever wide population working together in a lot of respects to achieve goals. Now it is about completely selfish and self absorbed progression ... and to hell with everyone else.
It was a lot more fun running Scholo for the 100th time to help a friend or even just some random new lvl 60 who you knew you would see around, than it is running these new dungeons for the 100th time trying to get badges that will give you similar gear as raiders get. Just my opinion to be sure .. but
At what point does this drive for accessibility ruin gameplay for enough people? I hope its soon. It was a long time ago for me.

"You asked, we Delivered", EXCEPT for the fact players have been up in arms about this "Feature" on the forums ever since it was released on the Test Center.
NO ONE except WoW kiddies asked for this, and ENTIRE guilds are now leaving the game because of the direciton they're continueing to go. SOE, quite simply, are trying to close EQII intentionally so EQ-Next has a clean platform to run with. Pathetic....
If any more of my guild members leave, I'll be forced to cancel my account too .

So true.
Honestly it's hard to imagine we'll have MMO's that have that again.
Dungeon finder is a great tool. Its so helpful for finding people. That being said.... I don't thinking having things like 'random dungeon with bonus rewards' is a good idea. The biggest point I see for dungeon finders is being able to actually find players for content you normally might not be able to, which means reaching possibly across server. Unfortuneately, this doesn't seem to be the case for EQ2 and for me, its kind of just killing the whole idea.
Apparently this is "Before you time", but "finding people" PRIOR to Dungeon Finder meant socializing in the major hubs OR within your guild to find people to group with.
Now, everything is handed to you on a silver platter, and GUESS WHAT....the games feel like empty shells because of it. Dungeon Finder should be banned from ANY MMO except WoW, since that's ALL about handholding. Though, I've only played every single MMO that has ever been released, and I still believe DAOC, EQ, UO, Planetside, and Pre-NGE SWG were some of the BEST MMOs ever released.

Yeah no it didn't. It consisted of people spamming 'LFG' in verious channels. No one struck up some long lasting relationship simply because they were twiddling their thumbs spamming channels with the same thing over and over again.
Matter of fact it has already led to MORE grouping and MORE socializing for me prior to the release.
Everything needed to socialize as much as people did 'back in the day' is still there. What is different is the WANT of socializing. For me I lack a 'want' or 'drive' to socialize because most people are uninteresting or clueless. Main reason I don't play WoW is because of the people, not because of the game itself. Please show me a public channel with conversation going on that would drive me to participate in that discussion and I will start playing that game right now.
Until then I am going to avoid the russian roulette that is talking to random people in MMO's to keep my sanity and joy intact.
This is also not true. Way to exaggerate. People who don't like WoW asked for this feature as well, so that's wrong. Loudest minority on the forums doesn't constitute as all the players either. They aren't closing down EQ2 intentionally, if they were they would just halt development outright and they would have shut down Eq1 before Eq2 came out. Been a while since I've seen this many blatantly wrong things in one thread. Bravo.
An optional feature in the game!
You don't have to use it.
No one is forcing you to do it.
You can still continue to spam general or trade chat for a group.
It's seems like they are only the best after people quit playing them due to changes in the game. Then realize later after playing WoW they had it good all along.
too bad the majority of the MMO community disagree with you. Otherwise we'd all still be playing thse games. let the old school live on in those grandfather games and either stick with them or learn to evolve

Good call on keeping it server based, probally alot less douchebaggery when they know it can come back to haunt them if they ninja or act like asses.
The "Majority" is not World of Warcraft kiddies. The "Majority" are true MMO players, and there's a reason games like Aion, Rift, and the like disappear from any REAL media after a couple months post-launch. They host WoW-copied systems that the MAJORITY do not want. Hence the current "down turn" in the MMO genre atm.
Ever wonder why crap games are being made lately? They're crap, because the MAJORITY perceive them to BE crap.
Also, to the random troll who claimed the community "asked" for this WoW system you're lieing through your proverbial teeth. The forums, and most notably in-game, have been on FIRE with people threatening to quit over this new system that WE the community apparently "asked for". SOE once again doing something without consulting their playerbase. Half my guild has already quit over it :'(.

"Dungeon Finder queue-instant teleport tools" have obvious advantages , at first I liked them , but then I realized that they are bad ,really bad. What they do to community and gameplay, not to mention how they kill immersion , how big impact they do have over time. I really think that they do far more bad than good. I really avoid games that have those. So I am preety sad than EQ2 adopted LFG tools. That means I will not come back to EQ2.
Just my 2 cents.
So you socially interact only when you make dungeon groups? why limit yourself considering dungeon finder is one small aspect of a huge game like EQ2. Who is stoping you to be more social with other players?
/grits teeth ...SOE is trying really hard to make me quit supporting their games.I have been struggling to play EQ2 [Wow a like game] lately,it is just too boring.
I play this game or have been everyday [took 2 days off].I ask all the time for groups/[party and it is 95% of the time "i rather solo".So i call bs on anyone or any majority asking for this app. Then that whole mitigation idea just sounds retarded,i could make a long post to describe how it will fail at what they are trying to make it do,but i can't be bothered.
They have not created one new PVE gaming idea since day 1,instead they have copied WOW 100%.battlegrounds ?yep ..dungeon finder yep, more mounts ..yep,Can Smedley think at all for himself?
The Everquest franchise has been stagnant for a long time,I am very close to giving up on any hope that SOE can be creative in the MMORPG design. It is only time anyhow as Semdley said the yare moving all cash shop for the future,so say Adieu to SOE.
There was once two developers that i held far above the rest,Square Enix and SOE ,now both have dropped right off the planet,i feel i will not be supporting either one very shortly as i have cancelled my 2 FFXI accounts and soon to cancel my 2 EQ2 accounts.
