Hey, i have alwasy looked at Vanguard, but due to mixed reviews. i always ended up not playing it
although Vanguard is probably the only last option for an Open world MMO with Housing, full crafting and very vast exploration
although i do know the game isn't really populated anymore,
but do you think a new player starting the game now will survive the early stages with the current state?
because honestly, i have been playing MMO and i have to be honest, i enjoy veteran player helping me on information in game
because even though i know there are forums for help and all that
but i usually like to ask in the game just to feel more immerse and not having to always alt tab to a forum, and i could still enjoy the game while getting directions from the user in game
so yeah, i would love to try out the trial, and what server do you guys think is good for new players to have help?
thanks

I think you can have a pretty decent experience starting up in the game. There's really only the one server now so start on Telon if you do decide to try it, Halgar is the European server and from what I understand it's pretty much empty. The tricky part of Vanguard with it's population issues is not starting off it's the middle part (like around level 30-40) where you find it harder to find a group. Early levels you get any new people trying it out and any longer term players will try different alts out. I'd suggest finding a guild early on (Twighlyte Song is a good guild with lots of people on) and be prepared to start your own groups rather than spamming LFG messages. But also be prepared for those nights where you can't find a group for the specific thing you want to do and instead work on an alt or work on crafting or diplomacy instead, or maybe help someone with something you've already done. If you run into problems then it's usually better to ask in game anyway as there aren't so many resources for Vanguard so you might not even be able to find the answer out of game. People are usually pretty helpful and friendly.
thanks
yeah i did play for a couple of hours ( but so far i was only wandering around )
haha, i started at Hathor Zhi and i ended up logging out from the game in Kojan, but it was indeed pretty empty
i did however met some people who were in the Twighlyte Song and i ended up joining them
they were pretty much discussing high level stuffs that i dont understand yet
but yeah, they are lots of people in the guild, i hope i can learn alot from them and eventually do stuffs with them, seems like having a guild in Vanguard is your only way of surviving the game now
but i liked what i see so far, only thing is i regret not really trying the game long time ago, i know i would have liked this

Hi Foju. Welcome to Vanguard and welcome to the guild Was gonna answer your post but I recognized your nick and talked to you earlier ingame (on my alt Vichand).
So yea, the guild has about 20+ members online at any given moment of the day. Try to find some players of your lvl that'll play during your hours when you're around hit lvl 10 and actively befriend people. Lot's of content requires a group, so start writing in that lil' black book!

Yep, i am enjoying my time in Vanguard so far, been running the temple for a couple of times for loots and
and there is still soo much to do left, even on beginners island, you wont get bored that much easily for hours
i am happy with the fact that most of the quest is not grind oriented ( i dont know when it's out of IoD though )
and what stuck me in the island the most is the Diplomacy quest, it's so fun man, hahaha, the dialogs are pretty entertaining
i hand't had much fun on the start of a MMO since the Vanilla days of WoW.
i pretty much recommend people to try this game, it's fresh if you have been previously been playing WoW, or any Anime F2P MMO in the past, you will feel something different here!
especially the Diplomat and crafting, i thought that the diplomat is weird when i 1st read about it, but after i experienced it on my own, it's super fun man!

I played this game at launch until I fell through the world one too many times. I really did like the idea of it though. There would be two prerequisites for me to rejoin. 1) pop and 2) patches. Is this happening??
check out comment #2 in this post. If the game does go f2p like they are suggesting then it will get a LOT more players, and patches. The only reason I never get into this game is the patcher never works right on my computer so I get it working for a few mins...then crash, and nothing. So I quit. Ill try again on my next PC build when I switch from XP to win7 I guess.
well from what i heard from most players in the game right now, Sony are bringing back the dev back? and i heard that there will have 2 big patches before the end of the year, and let's hope its true
i mean for me, it will not matter much as i am new and it will be months for me before i even will see the whole current game world
but population right now is not much, probably less than 500 a day, but chat is not dead at least, maybe some of you that have nothing else to do in the game will feel bored due to the pop, but yeah, i do hope that they make this game F2P soon enough
because with enough players, this game is fun, even at the current state, it's fun for me, because it's just different than the gazillion current MMO out there
and it's effin addicting

Vanguard was an awesome game until SOE ruined it.... I lived with the bugs, glitches, falling through the earth, massive lag spikes, etc... I couldn't forgive the class revamps, and restructuring of the game SOE felt they had to make...
It's a shame,,, Vanguard could have been the next legendary MMO If Brad and Sigil were given more funding to fix the current issues plagueing the game.. The first problem was the game being released 6 months early.. I was in beta 2 through to the release of the game and let me say EVERY SINGLE TESTER was suprised to see the release date being announced.... Especially when the most recent patch had just fixed the FPS issue and we were just about to start testing PVP balance In December of 2006, lol.. A month later It was released.. The reason it was released was due to the fact Sigil ran out of funding and Brad was refused more funding...
All the testers and true hardcore fans understood this and like a cult, we decided to keep our faith in Sigil.. But once when they sold out and SOE changed the core structure and mechanics of the game, this is when EVERYONE really left....

I mist have missed you I think. I made a dark-elf blood mage myself around that day, and am still around Hathor Zhi (I always slack leveling, and VG has enough reasons to slack )
Twilight Song a good guild? What leels are they active? I'm EU player myself (on Telon of course) and I'm still looking for a guild. Might wanna join them as well...
Its not Twilight Song, its Twyglyte Song or some such.
One of the reasons I am hesitant to join them is because I cant remember the guild name in the first place.
Yes, it's Twighlyte Song. Odd reason not to join a guild cause you can't remember the name, but hey.
There's over 2000 members currently, all of them have logged on in the last few months, but wouldn't call them all active . At any given time of day you'll have 20 online at least. Have seen 50+ online in the weekends. All levels, relaxed atmosphere. Different events, nothing obligatory.
The game crashes if you select 'see offline members' btw
