Redeeming your Pre-Order Code prior to the commercial release of the Game ensures your Early Game Access. Your early access to the Game will be determined by when your Pre-Order Code is redeemed. In addition, if you are part of a guild, at least four members must redeem their Pre-Order Codes for your guild to be imported into the Game before launch. For more information, see the Guild FAQ.

That information isn't out yet.  They will probably update this page when they decide on a start date.

They are right there is no info really on this. From what ive read they have stated it wont be weeks, More like days and it wont be just a weekend so im guess at least 4 days maybe 7 to 10 taht way its not weeks but only a week and half and not just a weekend.

Most games with early access have 3 days, my guess will be it will be 3 days.

Bioware devs have said it will be more then just a weekend. Since game releases on tuesday and its gonna be more then a weekend 3 days it to little.

Then Fri-to launch 4 days sounds about right . a weekend is considered Sat-Sun, so starting it Fri would hold true to there word as it's not a weekend.

  • More than likely a slow  flow of people each day till release. Probly start about a week ahead of time for the earliest and have a new wave each day. More than likely to stagger the download and ease the server loads.

They said the early access will be staggered by days, earliest preorder gets first serve, then they most likely have preorder codes broken down into brackets, starting on monday december 12 and by the 16th everyone who preordered will have access. They said it will be more than a week for some in an interview.

The commercial campaign is just insane to me. "The first to preorder will be the first served", then link it to "game will release 2 days before Christmas". The guy behind this strategy must be a genius.

You know what guys, i'll actually buy Skyrim, because first i'll get 10 days before Christmas if not more, and you get it, i won't be forced to preorder to actually have a chance to play it during holidays as you are so cleverly implying with Swtor.

Are you guys at EA a bit dump or what? I mean greediness ok, but this is a bit too much don't you think? Just for the sake of it i won't preorder. I mean can someone be so irrespectful to their customers to this point? Jez. But you know what i know too, this is clear that for 1 that will think like me 9 will jump into the preorder as soon as they can to actually get them a chance to play the Christmas evening.

I seriously have to ask, are you building your whole game as you build your selling campaign? I sure won't touch it anytime soon if you did.

And i'll have to edit to ask one more question to you guys: do you guys know that mmos are meant to last for years for your customer, so what do you think you are gaining from such a distasteful commercial campaign? do you really think it will bear of its fruit in the long run. Who are you fooling here?

Number one complaint about MMO launches?  Lag and server issues... Number one cause?  TOO MANY PLAYERS!

They are trying to solve this problem.  And no, 1000000000 servers won't solve the issue because people will still flock to a select few in hopes of being on "the best" server.

If you have a life that revolves around being the first or best in a video game, it's time to take a step back and evaluate your life.

I'll play SW TOR eventually, but I have no interest in dealing with the issues related to MMO launches!  Top it off, it's the holliday season, I have better things to be doing!

Worst case scenario they'll let you in two days prior to launch. Best case scenario they let you in a week early, But its not gonna be like 3 weeks early. 3 to 7 days will be a great way to stagger the launch and have a much smoother launch.

Given the instancing - I wonder how much being on a specific server is really going to affect the feel of the game.

3-4 days should be enough to get away from the crowed areas which will be in the 1st release day. I'm hopeing for 2 weeks early acces too, but i don't think that would be fair, you can get to lvl 50 befor the game is released :)

Hmm i dont know about this.

In Aion we could create our characters ahead of early start and there were still huge queues on servers.

It wasn't the staggering or number of people playing that caused the queues but the simple fact that there were so many people logging on to the game at the same time.

If the login servers are backlogged, they are back logged.     They only drop off when  people play less/log on less frequently.

Early start just  gives those in the game an advantage becasue they will not have to deal with login server queues so soon or fight for mobs in busy areas.

At some point though the login servers get jammed.  The people that have had an early start have perhaps just had a little time to play before the full effect is felt.

If they can push people onto new servers ... great .. but a lot of peo0le will want ot pick their server to play on a high pop one or one their mates are on etc.
