And what about the meditation thingy? How does that exactly work?

Respecing is cheap and via in game currency.  If your super poor though yea there is the option to use the cashshop but its not required at all.

Meditation?  I think your refering to the offline levels?  This is just if your a subscriber your account accumulates an offline level every 4 days (not exactly sure) and you can level up your character if its over level 30 instantly.  So if you have 50 offline levels saved up you can actually just level a character to 30 then use your offline levels you have accumulated to get instantly to level 80.  This is to help people with alts who don't want to have to spend all that time leveling a character.  It isnt restricted to your alts though if your a subscriber you can use the offline levels to level your main.

So even though I don't have a level 30 I still gain offline levels? I can just spend it when it hits 30?

This game gets more and more interesting. A mmo that actually let's you do other stuff than sitting 24/7 in front of pc. Im gonna try level up to ten and see how fun the pvp is.

Sieges and so on also still active?

Yep you will gain offline levels if your subbed.  So as soon as your hit 30 if it takes you 4 days you should have a level.  I don't belive you can use offline levels on Deathwish though since Deathwish is supposed to be more "hardcore" or some crap like that.

    http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/04/27/age-of-conan-unveals-offline-leveling/

Sieges are kind of server dependent and largely depend on guilds hating other guilds...which does happen.  I think there is some good rivalry on Set and on Tyranny not sure about Wiccana or Deathwish though...  I think there is a good posibility that sieges are attractive on deathwish.

A hint for you to level through Tortage fast is to do the single player night mode quests located in the Inn which is located on the right as soon as you go through the gate into the city.  They seem to give the best experience in my opinion.

Also if you want a PvP focused guild I suggest clicking on the Trophy icon in the top left corner which shows you guild rankings.  The Glory Tab is PvP point based so you could ask some of those guilds that PvP a lot more.

I'll try to check back more if you got more questions, im in a raid atm though so it could be a while between checks.

As you get more experienced you can try asking for some PvP advice.  To see some of the best players (by PvP level and KD ratio) go to this website:

    http://aoc.yg.com/

Click on community, PvP rankings, click on the server your interested and you can see what characters match your class...they might be willing to help you with questions and stuff.

What's the difference between a normal and a pure pvp server

PvE Servers (Set & Wiccana): No Open World PvP except for in the Resource Zone Cimmerians End.  Still has access to sieges, still have access to mini-games.

PvP Server(Tyranny): Open World PvP, Guards in Cities to give players more protection there, Cimmerians End PvP, Sieges available, mini-games available.

Blood & Glory Ruleset Server (Deathwish): Open World PvP, No guards in cities so you can gank or be ganked there as well, Cimmerians End PvP, Sieges, mini-games.  Corpse Looting available.  I belive corpse looting works were anything in your inventory has a chance to drop if its not equiped.  No transferes allowed to Deathwish server, no offline levels allowed, can only have one character (so if you piss people off you can't hide behind alts).  Essentially your reputation and the people you play with have a bigger value.  I also just looked it seems there is PvP in the starter zone Tortage but in the quest areas White Sand Isles, and Underhalls.

There is also supposed to be big rewards for sieging on this server although I'm not sure what they are.

I started of with DAoC when I was a little kid. Was a bit complicated, but was great fun. Then my dad went off and then did I....

Eve Online... I used around 6 months on this bad boy. I dont know what I did wrong, cus I never found any PvP but when I entered a 0.5 zone and got blewed away. Did mining and missions but never tried PvP even though I wanted to.

World of Warcraft... Game is fun, but at the same time one piece of shit PvP wise. Pretty fun to do arena - Pretthy PoS to pay monthly fee to spend 10 minutes playing 10 arena games every week.

Warhammer Online - This is by far the best MMO with PvP I have ever enjoyed the most. Since Rank 1 you can jump straight into Scenarios and have fun versus other players. I really wanted to jump back into this baby, but my memoriessays something about lagspikes now and then, plus everyone says this game should be as dead as hell.

Global Agenda was no fun at all for me. Very fun to do some third person shooter into a game. However it just didnt work out for me.

Age of Conan... I only tried it like 2 hours or so. The thing you have to aim left, center, and right, and then some spells seemed strange to me. Plus I didnt experience any PvP at that time. People in here also say, that PvP is dead in this.

Pites Of the Burning Sea... Tried this one out. Pretty hard to get into imo. And also I experience stuttering in cities while seafights though are smooth. But I couldnt find any fast pvp in this so I just shut it down.

Rift was pure shit. Copying whole WoW. BGs like WoW, leveling like WoW. Everything felt like WOW. And oh, I have a AMD Phenom II X6 prcessor, so the game ran like shit on my PC thanks to GameBryo fag engine.

Help me! I am willing to maybe give Eve Online another try. But How do I find PvP in this?

I am willing to give AoC another try. I hear its growing large, but also it has most PvE content.

War Online. Is it as dead as people say? Or will it just get the knife when Wrath of Heroes arrives?

Help me out, need some fun PvP like War online.

Every game you have listed is a PVE primary game.   PVP isnt the core of the game.

Here is a short list of PvP oriented games.

    -League of Legends

    -Mortal Online

    -Dark Fall Online

-Face of Mankind (its really bad but it is PvP)

    -Planetside  (soon Planetside 2)

-Battleground:Europe (formally known as World War II Online:Blitzkrieg) also bad, but if you ignore the complete disregard for realism its pretty good.

    -Black Prophecy

    -Vendetta Online

Those are just a few off the top of my head.

So much crap, so little quality.

League of Legends and Heroes of Newerth are good PvP games, but they are MOBA games where you only level your charecter from 1 every time you enter a match.  They are good games though and they are PvP focused, however they do have PvE aspects (Jungling & Minion Killing).

Mortal & Darkfall are both PvP focused MMORPG games as well.  I never could get used to the first person view and the games have very clunky controls in my opinion.

Yup, there is not only real PVP but massive PK.. Its Called "DRAGONA" I played it at Korea then moved to PH for the English language and now its going to be released Globally. I think this December and im so eager to play that damn game. very addicting!! They have 2 kinds of PVP battles The BOC or "Battle of Celebration" its a PVP with 2 teams the RED and BLUE its a random pick of team mate as soon as you join the BOC click panel, held every odd number of the time + 30mins like: 1 : 30, 3: 30 and so on. The rule is the first team to get 500 points win its a battle between 10 to 100 depends on how many signed in and its always an equal in team number. Prizes are for the winners 3x of 14000 exp and 14000 exp for the losers, also there is a point system in pvp wherein when your team wins you earned battle points which you can convert to unique items.

About the BOD its a battle between 10 to 30 and there is a life points per team depending on their total HP.. Lv 15 to 40 allowed. First team to lose life points lose., the prize is the same as BOC. Oh! yeah forgot to tell in  BOC there is a group division per battle it is up to 10 lv gaps like lv 15 to 25 division and so on.

There is also a pvp arena wherein you can test your skills right next to the town and if you want 1 on1 you can just duel your friend. But the best part about this game is the PK system. Starting LV 23 its either you PK or get PK'd.. The Rules are simple just press the PK button or Multi PK to spam AOE skills and kill players. Once you PK  players you will be a killer with a red mark on your name, once your a killer you dont have access to portals so you must have a scroll portal or medals to restore your honor points to remove the killer status. REMEMBER: Once your a killer and you get killed it has 30% chance that your items will be dropped and can be picked bu opponents so you must bind your equipments to avoid it from falling. You can PK killers too thats an easier way that you wont be a killer. Once a killer approahes most of the the players kill them and loot thier stuff or be killed by Map Guardian's. If you have some time try watching thier video's or browsing thier site.

So what, pray tell, is your definition of "actual PvP." And some of these games you mention you only played for hours, or quit the second you got ganked for the first time. How can you ask for PvP content if you either leave before you can reasonably expect to find any or run away after you lose your first fight?

Darkfall, perhaps planetside 2 or Guild Wars 2 when they come out

What are the properties of "real" PvP?

Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.
