Upon the arrivel of this new server, do you think that it will bring back the old player? Will it be enough to get back the players that left for balance and ToA? Well I hate to see a good game go under and lose people, but I hope so. Well just my thoughts
Have a great and safe 4th.

Which FF Character Are You?
same here, but remeber. they do have capacity limits.
im not saying they are going to have queueueue's like certain wow servers, but you never know. even all the old players seem to be wanting to go to new server.
They are doing 2 new servers I believe.
I retired DAoC about a year ago and for some reason the news of this new server has sparked interest for me. Started looking at DAoC forums again, breaking out the old websites and brushing up on the game again.
Been playing WoW and GW for so long I'll need some practice.
If the game could go back to the way it was pre TOA and Post SI... i would be in heaven.
There is server capacity, however, in most cases there will just be extreme amount of lag. If there get to be too many people the server will crash or they will stop people from logging in. I because of the former they had to do the latter the first 2 days of the game.
I do not think the servers will be as popular as most people think. Contrary to belief, ToA did not kill the game in fact ToA increased subscriber it had been loosing them about 4 months after SI came out.
There will be people who come back. There will also be many people from the regular servers who go there for two reasons:
1. It is a new server and they think it will be like the good ol'e days of the game and are trying to recreate that same feeling.
2. They think that NF will be much better without ToA/BB
However, reason 1 will where off after awhile and they will go back to their server once they reach 20ish. NF will be great for archers, but most other classes are going to be just as pissed off if not more than on the regular servers so they will go back.
After one month of release I expect the new servers to down to 600-800 people are peak times with the population mostly made up of new players and those who really were upset over ToA.
Sadly, I think Dracos is pretty dead on. However, I feel most people will get a sense of the good ol' days and stay for a long time because of it. We really are starting from scratch, no one is getting to 50 over night, or even in a week probably.
And even if they do, I would not worry about them getting much of a head start on anyone. With no one else around to fight that means no RPs until more people reach the 50s.
In fact, I can see a lot of the power gamers getting irritated by the lack of resources available to them in the beginning to level and twink their toons. The good, bad and teh l337 will probably all get weeded out and those that truly want to make it their home will. It should be a lot of fun either way if your the type to stick with it all the way.

Soldiers the test version is up now. Its out for everybody on the 14th.
I see alot of people staying on the new servers and being incredibly happy with the buffbot nerf and toa item removal.
Being one who was particularily upset with the ToA -"welcome to 50 now grind an item' expansion, I was excited to see that new servers were going to be created without the ToA ruleset.
The nerf to buffbots also intruiged me - but then the reason why buffbots were so rampant caming slamming back - the healer and buff classes aren't fun to play in DAoC. I don't know if this new server will change that mechanic, it will probably just leave those who reach 50 on the new server frustrated because no one will be playing clerics etc.
NF will probably still be a range/ganker game ... sadly I don't think the game will change much for tanks and healers.
if you have activated an account before July 1st u can play on the new servers July 12th , if you make an account after july 1 the new servers are active the 14th for you
You can do RvR in the battlegrounds and those will give you realm points. In fact most people now when they hit level 45 will be RR 3L0 because that is the cap. I do not see this changing for these servers. Further you will still get 1 free level a week minimum so they are speeding you towards 50. I woudl expect the first level 50 to be there in about 2 weeks and a sizable population of 50's withing 6 weeks. The only reason this wouldn't happen is if the players are spending their time leveling in the BG and not out doing PvE. If this is the case then these servers will rock for awhile.
And here is why these servers will not be as big and long lasting as people think:
1. Most people who left the game did not leave because of ToA or BB.
2. At best 10% of players read message boards so given that if Mythic lost 75,000 subscribers this means only 7500 have any chance to know about it. My assumption is more like 3000 of non-current players.
3. If you are currently playing and even if you like the idea of a no ToA/BB when you leave you will be giving up a lot. You will be giving up your crafters. You will be poor. You will not have a house. You won't have your same guild. You won't have most of your online friends there. You won't have /level 20 to make alts to have fun with.
4. No healers is going to make it hard to level. Sure there will be some starting out. But the boredom and agrivation of being one will make most quit just like on the old servers.
5. NF issues are going to be worse. Casters not only have to worry about assassing, but archers now. Assassins have MoS making playing an assassing extremly frustrating. So assassins will pretty much only attack casters. Casters will get pissed off like they did in OF and stop playing. There will be enough around to make sure tanks are upset for being nuked. NF will mostly be archers, a few assassins, tanks, and casters.
So at peak times I expect each server to have around 2000 people. That number will fall over time as people get frustrated over crap armor, no crafters, no healers, and no money. I am happy they are adding these servers. I expect them to have a decent population and for the servers after their sudden decline to start to fill up. I think it will help new people get into the game. I think it will attract some customers back. Between now and the end of the year I would expect 10,000-20,000 more subscriptsion to DAOC and many of them will end up at least starting out of these servers. It will definatly be more friendly to the new players and that is what I support it. I will make a character over there just because my GF never had the experience of playing DAOC when there was a large low level population. Once she gets the fill of that she will miss our server and want to go back. I give it 2-4 weeks for us.

wow you mean the game is actually gonna be played the way it suppose to be played?
and pls, casters have had there share of being op'd for the last 2 years. these 2 servers bring the game back in balance, the only real issue i have is with the banshee having a AOE nearsight on one of there lines
