default House & Keep security issue

During the weekend a serious bug was discovered in the house and keep system. At first it appeared to be an exploit but in fact it's a problem with the security modules of these structures associated on the database. We have a possible solution to this issue but we require more time to be sure it does not affect any other core systems.

The choice we had to make here is to either hotfix a system that will be replaced in the near future or continue as we are and use all resources available to get Territory Control finished. We decided to not waste valuable development time and instead design a proper system that will be future proof.

Until we release the Territory Control update houses and keeps will have this possible security issue. Due to this we recommend you not to store any additional valuables in houses and keeps. Chests should only be accessible by the players who have permission for this, unfortunately with this bug this sometimes is not the case.

For any questions please contact GM Discord.

Man a person could not even make this comedy up.

TLDR

We have the 2 guys a chimp and a hamster working on the TC uopdate so we can not fix this major issue.  So working as intended.

One questions whether your obsession with Mortal Online is all that healthy. Another one might question why Starvault gives you so much material to work with.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

He who believes this will be happy but blinded forever. Not that a public statement must describe this any different, but this bug was discovered ages ago already and is known since.

At least we now got everything about assets clarified, there's no more rules in regards to how to access them or the chests within. Go griefers, you have won and enjoy the change while it last. I am though about curious how many active players this decision will cost.

...I was going to say... I thought I have heard people complaining about this for months on the OF. There are so many bugs though its hard to remember.

Funny that the Devs say this "was just discovered" lololololololol. I guess they dont bother reading their own forums or checking the bug tracker. Maybe Black Opal was really deleting those PMs. LOL.

Yes, if MO was a reality show I would gladly use pay per view to watch. This is honestly the most entertaining MMO out right now (not entertaining to play it though- Just to watch, listen, discuss and wait for the next bit-o-comedy coming fro SV)

Housing security has been a joke from the word go.  There are way too many explits to get into a house or the box inside the house.  Hell people found out all you needed to do to steal a house was create a toon with the same first name as the toon that owns the house and BANG it belongs to you now.  That in itself is the biggest joke in security.  No item id on the house just tied to a first na,me.

It read to me like they finally figured out what was CAUSING the problem, not that a problme existed; hence the comment about them thinking it was an exploit.

Game is way to big for the studio.  You're never going to be able to build on what you have, and continually fix what's there at the same time without the proper employees in place to do so.  This was my biggest concern during beta, that the game would release and grow, and the studio itself wouldn't be able to keep up.

How did it take until now for them to make an announcement about this?

We reported this when AQ's keep was sieged, because we experienced the "door unlocked when locked" issue ourselves. Think this was even in the bug tracker.

HUh?  A handful of 20 somethings pointing fingers while drooling doesnt sound all that entertaining.   Wait a second, the forums are entertaining... you might be on to something.

And deeper down the rabbit hole we go....

Sad, every excuse they make is less convincing than the last. At least make an effort if you are going to try and sell your customers a load of bullshit.
