What happened to the breeding system/genetics????

PicklebeastPicklebeast Member Posts: 273

Not wanting to necro old threads so I created a new one (the discussion can be found here on the forums with the same 'ol people saying "just wait- This will be awesome" and the same ol people saying "everything MO says is hype and lies")

So, this was posted on Arpil 4th . Was posted at another gaming site from a press release via MO... So, 6 months later I am wondering where this breeding system is that was coming soon (tm). Any update, or was it "forgotten" about like most things that never come to pass when SV announces the next big, shiny idea (TC)?

Mortal Online has been struggling with performance and stability issues since its launch in June last year. But the team over at Star Vault have been working to make improvements and in the game's latest newsletter, the team announced that it has resolved the last of the stability issues with the core engine and set a new up-time record with 50+ hours before a manual restart. But the juicier news the letter revealed comes in the form of the game's very first expansion titled Dawn.

Dawn will be free to Mortal Online subscribers and will introduce a host of new content, including a new Mount and Gene system, which will be part of the upcoming breeding system, allowing players to make each mount in the game unique and even allow for further customization of mounts by breeding them and utilizing the traits of the previous generation. The expansion will also add a new cooking profession; attribute reserves for hunger and sleep, more fish for fishing and several other changes.

Dawn is scheduled to release later this month.

Did SV release an official date for the implementation of the breeding system?

If so, can someone link it?

After reading the post title, I already had Fetapult repeating over and over in my head. And then I got the part where it said the expansion's name was Dawn and now I have no clue if this post is a joke or real.

    edit: damn autocorrect.

LOLZ- No, like other promises they make that never actually make it in game...Its always "coming soon (tm)" and "they are working on it"- Kinda like AI thats been in the works for over a year now, or the UI thats been in the works forever.

The problem here Rohn, is that they keep addding new things and makiing new promises but never revisit their unkept promises. I would say it probably should have SOME news by now (6 months later) since you guys are now working on a huge update like TC without mentioning the breeding system that was promised.

I am sure it is the same release date as Tindrem, UO style fishing, 13 magic schools, FAILED being fixed, real AI, better UI, actual dungeons, real PVE,  Decorations for houses, clothing, etc etc.  and that date is.....

If politicians could use the same "line" as MO....

In the year 2329 the US economy is soaring to new heights, there is 0 unemployment, everyone owns a home, world hunger has been cured , war has ended and  everyone is happily siging "KUMBAYA my lord, Kumbaya"

Thank you Mr. Obama for this great new world. I guess his supporters were correct all along... Or was it Bush who made this great economy of 2329? I guess they both kept their promises. Thanks guyz.

Do you seriously want people who can't get a game engine to show you other players with any sort of consistency messing around with genetics? What kind of horrible mutants are you hoping for?

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

LOL- OMG the comedic opportunities .  I can only imagine how this system would turn out.

The problem is that (if MO survives- It wont) three years from now they wil still be saying its "being worked on" and "there was never a release date"- It was only the most talked about thing in a press release that was what the "Dawn" expansion would allow for. Not going to look for the quote(s) now (I may have time tomorrow) but Henrick and co. were really building this up...Now its forgotten since TC is the new shiny to distract peoples attention.

    LOLZ-

God , Slap...I had actually forgotten about this. There are just so many bugs and craziness surrounding this game It slipped my mind about the 30ft tall horses with strange warping butts...

So, this still is turned off right? Meaning they have not even fixed the CORE FEATURE of Dawn. Can anyone update me on how they fixed the huge mutant horse problem? I really dont remember. All I remember was them turning off the system entirley (I think)

I got a pretty good laugh out of this, well played.

The comedic value of the statement increases even further when you consider that it's very true. They can't even get basic functions to perform correctly, more than a year after launch.
