Well, I have played both exclusivly . And, personall.y WoW, though, the community isnt that great, a good guild will fix that. Eq2 may seem like the obvious choice, but the system they have going for some reason just doesnt appeal to me as much as wow does. WoW is quite a bit faster paced. It doesnt require you to get carprol tunnel in order to combat efficently either . just my personal opinoins
EQ2 seemed to me to be more....ummm...well flat ass boring. Combat was standard and slow. Graphics are good, but with no style.
WoW is faster paced all around (leveling, combat, and crafting). But you'll hit the max level realatively fast (4 months for a "casual" gamer). I like the graphics because of the style (I'm not interested in realistic graphics).
Graphics: Really a taste thing. Eq2 is more technologically advanced but WoW has a bit more style. On a good sytem Eq2 looks mind-blowing but WoW isnt too shabby ethier.
Community: I've met nice people on both games. I noticed a few more asshats in WoW but theres always the ignore list. Get into a good guild in eithier and you'll be set.
Combat: I think Eq2 is a bit more in depth but WoW seems a little faster paced. Eq2 is more startegy while WoW feels more "arcade" I guess.
Crafting: WoW is pretty basic here. Eq2 has a nice in-depth crafting system but some people really don't like it.
Conclusion. Imo, both games are alot of fun. If you are more of a casual player that WoW is probably your best bet. Also if you're still new to the mmo genre I would suggest WoW. Eq2 on the other hand has a lot of content to explore and more diversity in character creation. Eithier way you can't go wrong.
I thought WoW was the better game, yet EQII had a much better community. Since the community ultimately makes the game, I had a lot more fun with EQII in the long run.
graphics-if u got a good system i say EQ2.However,WoW runs a good enough graphics on even low end system unlike EQ2 that looks ugly on low systems
Community-well sorry i have to say EQ2 by a mile.
Gameplay-i honestly prefer WoW simply because its easy to get into and is very fast pace.EQ2 is more complex but still i preferred WoW
customization-Well not much customization in both if you ask me but EQ2 has better.
Conclusion,WoW is obvious choice for a newcomer to mmorpg .WoW is also very solo friendly. However, for a seasoned mmorpg player i think EQ2 is the better choice (if you have a good system) and has a longer shelf life then WoW since it has much more end game content.
I agree with DOZeR, Both have a lot of content but EQ2 by far has more and better stories and lore to tell. And they add new stuff all the time. Plus EQ2 levelling is slower, I never thought in my wildest dreams that it would be a plus but trust me, it is.
