It never ceases to amaze me the stock some people put in all the Illuminati, Freemasons , and Templar lore. I can assure all of you that there is nothing nefarious nor even secret going on with atleast the Freemasons nor the Templars of today. As far as the Illuminati goes ... it has always been my understanding that while they exsisted they no longer do, they are certainly not recruiting from the Masonic pool as it were. There are plenty of offshots working today which could have taken the place of the Illumaniti or the other .. more secret organizations, but its certainly not the ones you the general public would know about, nor those like myself with current knowledge on the Freemasons/Templars.
It never ceases to amaze ME that some people don't recognize roleplaying when they read it or see it. I will believe whatever I damn well please about all "secret societies" if it makes the game more fun for me. We're talking about a game here, not real life....remember??
Hi ...
Clearly my post wasn't directed at you then, now was it?

Uhm, err.....this is awkward. Sorry.

Dragon here.
The Illuminati are too close to the reality of modern day politics and underhanded dealings. I hate greed.
The Templars are too much like an incarnation of Westboro Baptist Church and Fred Phelps and flock. Uhm, no....no thank you.
Im going for Dragon for the same reasons, but I think the Westboro comparison is a bit strong. Lol. Templars seem zealous for a legitimate cause, like thwarting very real evil, but Westboro people are just stupid, bored, pseudo-christian nutjobs.

I think you have a point. I tend toward hyperbole. I kind of still like my description, inaccurate though it may be, it will help me hate them more in PvP. heh
Templars are in NO way religious zealots. Believers in their cause, zealous about their cause, sure. But absofuckinglutely not religious - at all. Hard to take this 'writer' in any way shape, form, or fashion seriously when they make ignorant statements like that.
Do some research before writing your next article, Mr. Murphy. You'll look much less foolish.
no Templars just kill heretics & burn witches but in no way should they be concidered religous zealots
This game has actual witches that have real powers. If you knew someone could curse you or your friends and it really could happen, I'm convinced your outlook on killing said person would be different to the point you would no longer label someone a "religous zealot" who in fact does kill or seek to kill said people.

no, I personally have a "live & let live" policy. there are plenty of threats in the RL that are every bit as potent as witchcraft.
I will just quote the author "I wonder if the real Illuminati are getting worried about Ragnar and Funcom spilling the beans."
I think you seriously should make at least a quick research of the Illuminati, at least just read the wiki article on it. And you will understand that if the Illuminati might exist, and this clearly have yet to be proved, it very most likely just exist as a simple "secret human organization" even though some claim the aliens on earth are part of them. And this mean their control over our world is very limited, less limited than simple men or smaller organizations, but still very limited; unless you think like some that the devil is managing them with the aliens for sure. When you obviously see that our government with their huge budget aren't even able to have very much power over very simple problems like employment, or more like unemployment. Then it would be clear to you that even though they exist, all the claims made about them are just claims. What people want the Illuminati to be clearly cannot be even be close to what they could be if they even exist. Spitting the bean about them is what some people are doing since decades. First they never ever get proper facts to prove their claims other than manipulating symbols without taking account of their real historical background, second all of their dooms days turned to be ridiculous once the dates targeted passed away. As such all those dooms days they claimed since millenniums never happened, and every few years they find other dooms days. And naturally all of them were perfectly backed up with theories and books to support them. In fine, this all appear as hoax and propaganda for many groups to despite other groups and nothing else. But still they are interesting to follow for sure, but certainly they are a lot more if you consider them as rivalries between human organizations rather than real facts or beans you can spill.
And naturally i have yet to see where Funcom will lead their games here? Obviously this theme is very important, because it trigger a lot of attitudes that can be arming for people. Is knowledge something arming and hidden, or is it something in the light of everyone that want to look at it? What is the illumination people are talking about in those organizations. A hidden power, or a power ignored by most? If those organization are about enlightenment, then obviously anyone that stay in the light should access its power, they don't actually need to follow some rules set and stay in the shadow, isn't it? So keep yourself in the light and you will be fine, go into the darkness of knowledge and you will arm yourself and the others obviously.
And yet another "journalist" who doesn't have a bloody clue.
TEMPLARS ARE NOT THE KNIGHTS TEMPLAR. THEY ARE NOT RELIGIOUS.
Ok? Got that? They have "faith" in Humanity and that we will survice the Darkness etc etc. In-game lore says the religious amongst them left to form the Knight Templar and died off.

Yea while using magic to do it. So do they go home and commit suicide? No? Hmm then maybe they only kill "witches" who are serving the Darkness that is attempting to take over the world. As to heretics, we've already determined they aren't religious, so that's out.
I would definitely join the Dragon... but, I still haven't seen enough to warrant paying a subscription for this game. I'll continue keeping an eye on it, and hopefully new information closer to release will help me cross that line, but at this point I doubt I will be playing.

WOW! if I was in charge I would make MMORPG.com the exclusive site to be able to give open beta keys, when the time come.
It looks like The Secret World found their biggest fan =o
