Rift...second time around
having played rift in beta i kind of sickened myself..i got bored i suppose .recentely i bought rise of isengard and found myself dissapointed with it..that ex pk is more like here is a load of quests go do em and oh btw you dont need anyone at all to group with.
so back to rift...have to say i,m kind of enjoying it..i,m taking my time,the rifts are fun,but i dont join in all of em,kind of learned my lesson the first time around.the people who i have grouped with are nice..also there have been a lot of nice changes..i,e, you dont have to do rift's for additional classes.you can now buy em off your trainer.died a couple of times which is quite ok..i dont want to just walk thru everything.i think the added bonus this time is that the wife also has an account so we can grp together..it was cheap enough.only thing about this game is that it is like WOW,thats not a bad thing..i mean WOW aint a bad game at all..i played it for 2 yrs..but when all said and done..if lotro does not improve i can see this being my new home.
just my thoughts..i know a lot of peeps critisise rift but when you put it up against all the other mmo's out there...its a pretty damn decent game and well polished.but not everyone will have that opinion and i respect that.

Yea it's really not a bad game, it has been getting some really nice changes, and the non-stop new events, and free content added every month help.
The best part of being past the 6 month mark, is most of the jerks have left and moved on and we have a pretty nice community now.
I enjoyed rift when I played it. I thought it was well done and polished. I may have to resub to it for a month as I bought a new alienware laptop. My old laptop didnt run it as well.

I am having fun playing Rift. Im a slow leveler and I like to enjoy the "journey" and not worry about endgame until I get there. How some expect a lot of endgame material a month or even three months after launch I do not know. I do agree that beta testing is a good way to burn out on a game and stopped signing up for them quite awhile ago. Will I be playing Rift this time next year? I dont know. I dont worry about it. I play a game until it isnt fun anymore and then leave for something else.

yeah community is everything..i left WOW because of the community at the time,but in retrospect i think that was more like a rage quit on my part because peeps were'nt very polite at the time..i maybe should have waited on that one.

I played WOW from '06 and left after Cata. The community can be terrible but playing as long as I did I made some friends and was in a casual guild with a lot of nice folks. Trade chat in WOW is infamous and shutting it off helped but in truth evey game has its misfits, just seems like WOW draws more of them than most games.

Rift is doing exactly WHAT I HOPE ToR does on launch. They start with a model and then go off in their own direction. 1.6 is going to shock some people with the amount of content it adds
I think you have just the right mindset to get along with Rift and get the most out of it. I will try to approach it in a similar way -as soon as the mate i want to start with finally gets ready. The game is just not "made formore", what i don't necessarily mean that in a bad way. Perhaps it's just time to get back to smell the flowers and take it more casual instead of exhausting oneself burning through a game, like many incl. me did in WoW. I did so in Eq2 and went along fine with the game at all times, kept the level of frustatrion very low for myself, didn't mind nerfs or changes.
Enjoying the moment, not thinking what'll be the next level. And if it's getting less fun, taking a break or unsub until next patch.
Hmmm...why do i have such a hard time to take a game easy?
I recently brought a new pc and decided to give it a second try . The only reason i didn't play it from release was my old pc just couldn't handle it that well even on its lowest settings . I'm only intending on playing it untill the release of StarWars TOR but I'm having a great time in it in the meanwhile . Proberbly the best time I've had in an mmo since vanilla Warcraft . It just offers everything WoW doesn't anymore . Still even if Stars Wars TOR is my eventual home I may have breaks from it and come back to RIFT now and then . At present I would say its the only mmo that charges a subscriptions thats worth paying to play . Very polished and addictive and the regular content updates make it worth coming back . A great game for an ex WoW player like me as it offers some degree of familarity but also offers a degree of challenge no longer seen in Warcraft . It may not be a game to play year in year out but certainly one to keep returning to . Its a class act .
I really enjoy RIFT...I personally think it's a phenomenal game.
My only real issue (and the reason I don't play it full time) is that combat takes far too long. I've gotten kind of spoiled by games where 2-4 hits kills a trash mob...having to rotate my entire hotbar 3 times per mob just got too damn tedious.
Fantastic game though, other than that.
Rift bored me too.
I played the beta, decided been there done that - not much more to see and quit.

I guess im not a serious MMORPG player either then. I never, and I mean never buy an MMO at launch. You serious folks can have the hardware conflicts and bugs. And after a few months of reviews I will decide if the game is worth buying or not. I like the part about epeen flexing though, its one of the tihings I enjoy about this site.
