Anyone else feel MMORPG.com should focus more on video in the future? Of course they could imporve their quality as it stands, but I do like the idea of video reports here and there.

We intend to. I love video and have always been pushing for it. Moar video! We've been doing a number of video reviews in recent months, and of course RipperX's various videos. This will be a continuing trend for sure.

I have my doubts about the validity of Bioware's statements regarding open world PvP and the equal focus on PvP in this game.

    Why?

Experience. Open world PvP is very hard to do right. Very hard. Even Mythic "got it wrong" with WAR because I feel they gave far too much focus to the scenarios, made them far too easy to advance in and get the rewards.

If instanced warfronts are the "level up" pvp and the open-world is the "end-game" PvP then I feel they have a good chance at being successful.

Rumor has it the newest in-game trailer was all open-world PvP on Illum, which if THAT is how "intense" it is, I will be greatly impressed.

That being said... we just don't know if it is going to be like Wintergrasp in WoW where it is not constant but more "scripted" and honestly given the Bioware focus on story, I wouldn't doubt if it was more scripted and on a timer like Wintergrasp.

    We shall see though...

While I don't want to complain about TOR PvP as I haven't experience it yet.  I'd be more happy if Warfronts gave minor XP, and other rewards were removed. So that they could add area's similar to WarHammers PvP lakes, and place the rewards there, as well as in Open PvP.  Nothing against instanced PvP.  I actually do enjoy it, but I think it should be a tool that simply is used for Ladder Rankings (To give a small measure of fairness, to judge Top Guild teams etc) and general quick pvp fix's. (Ex: I only have 30 mins today.  Let me jump in a Warfront because I'm itching for some quick PvP.) I'd like to see the reward for Warfronts simply be nothing more then the enjoyment of it, (And alittle XP for your time, not alot mind you, like your Warhammer example, don't want to see that happen) and as I said Ranking if the match is flagged as such.

    In War - Victory.
    In Peace - Vigilance.
    In Death - Sacrifice.

Did I hear one of them say they want to make it where you cannot repeat flashpoints? I think this is a mistake. I don't support lvl 50s running people through the flashpoints, but I do support running a single flashpoint a few times to get more chance of gear drop and for the chance to play the flashpoint with more than just 3 of your friends.

Maybe I heard it wrong, but I am against a 1 time only rule on a flashpoint.

I thought I heard them say over and over that you can do them mutiple times even once you've reached endgame, you can go back to early FP's and do them on harder levels of difficulty.

Let's stay on topic guys. Please follow the Rules of Conduct when posting. Do not personally attack others. Also, please remember the NDA for SWTOR is still in effect. You may say you are in beta, but absolutely nothing else.

I was speaking of doing FPs many times before 50. It seems from the panel one of them wants to make it so you can only run it once until you are level 50. I could be wrong though.

"This also led to the role playing question which the team said there would be plenty of chances to role play, yet nothing specific was added into the game yet. Although, they expect the role playing community to be a big part of the game and will monitor the activity closely."

I will hold my opinion after playing the game, but with a game so focused on "the story" this makes zero sense.

Because this will be another AOC and WAR in the making. High subs at launch and will flatline after the first 3-6 months.

Yep...but hey, I said as much about games like  WAR, Aion, Rift, and has anyone listened? Nope.  Oh well, as a professor once said to me, '...we give you all books, and instead of reading them your dog eats them, you scribble in them, but read them...not a chance.  I do not think any of you read them.'

Once again we get a stagnat game, stagnat game play on rails(and in this game we're talking serious rails), stagnat MOBS(AI's no better than a rock), stagnat worlds(they do not even have night and day cycles!)...(BTW what I just wrote does not break the NDA - this info is all ready known or watch any relased game play video and you can see exactly what I am talking about) - this game brings absolutely nothing to the genre that hasn't been done before - and better in most cases.   I give the game 6 months and then we'll watch the exodus begin.

Stagnat game? Howso? Explain it to me...

Serious Rails? wrong. No more than any other thempark MMO including WoW.

AI no better than a rock? Huh? Wrong!

No night and day cycles? OMG /ragequit.... seriously? /rollseyes

What should it bring to the genre? I hear that with every mmo but no one really tells us what us wants.. It's funny.

I must say I am super upset at the rail space combat though.

I won't bother getting super upset over a mini-game.  Had they added full space exploration, that would have been time, money, and resources in general that would have to have been diverted from the core game.  It's something they can certainly add later, it would be perfect for an expansion.

First, you can repeat flashpoints. Several flashpoints have been designed for level 50 play. This has been very commonly reported.

Second, there is open world pvp. Ilum has multiple open world pvp objectives. The starter planets are protected. This has also been reported multiple times.

Third, there is instanced pvp (huttball, void star, and alderaan) as has been reported before.

Fourth, I still have my copy ordered as do a couple of my friends. That is all I can say atm.

Yeah considering it's Bioware saying that (an RPG developer) who's main focus on RPing is deep story mechanics, it confuses me as well.

Despite the fact that it means I know very little about the game I've pre-ordered.  I'm really glad that I will not be selected for beta.  As I have no interest in playing some half-assed build just so I can get a bad impression of the game...

Still it worries me that they can't get over thier compulsive need for secrecy.  Which at this stage just seems supremely childish to me.  Prior to this title I would have never expected BioWare to behave in such an Unprofessional manner.

Take it easy guys, you can build an entire house in a week ( as seen on TV). I am sure they can get the last few systems in/or tuned in 2 months.

I'm just saying this as food for thought: you or I might not understand why they feel the need for such secrecy. That's because we don't have jobs on the line here, not to mention close to 100million smackaroos.

that last picture really pises me off.  i want to pla  trooper on the sith side but they do not have a class like that.  BH may be a mirror but it doesnt have the story i want, and an agent is too rogue-ish and sniper-ey for me

People complaining about a developer not wanting to give full details on an area of the game that isn't finished.

Can't wait! While I would like to see well rounded PVP, I'm more interested in the backstory and roleplaying aspect of the game. And it looks like they're going to out-do themselves. Or maybe thats just mt whishful thinking talking =D

I'm not a RP'er but I think this game is going to be absolutely incredible for it's RP potential.

    No bitchers.

I think the writer did a good job. I found it very informative. I expected him to be much older so I was a  little shocked, but good job especially doing that for the first time :-0

God i wish they would lift the NDA so me and others who are in beta can really put people in their place about this game. Tired of the same dumb ass comments that people are making on things they think they know, but don't. Better yet what Bioware needs to do is get some of you into beta so you can see for yourself. Of course i get the feeling that the majority of the people trashing and complaining about this game would just do it in game and on forums anyways.

To evem assume there will not be any open world pvp ON A PVP SERVER at launch is just a dumb thing to think. All you need is a little common sense to know it will be there, other wise whats the point of a pvp server? So don't get your panties in a bunch just because they haven't fully talked about it yet.

Didn't take me long after being in game to decide i was going to preorder. 3 days later i still felt the same way on my decision to preorder. After preordering and almost 3 weeks into beta, i can't wait for this game to release. Even have decided to pass up on Guild Wars 2 and any other games i was waiting for. Probably wont even touch Mass Effect 3 till i am done with all 8 storylines. Still, whether others play it or not doesn't matter, this will be the game of games for me, all others no longer matter.

As always, do not play beta, do not preorder, wait for the reviews and what your friends say. I only buy about a month after launch and can say that I have never regretted a MMO purchase.

I don’t see SWTOR being a failure, but that’s not the issue. The gaming industry relies on us buying games before we really know what they are like. Wait for a review, its not rocket science.
