Is this in any way an MMO?
I just started this game lokking for something different adn it seems like a cute little game but is there any need of other players or is it just a single player game? I am sick of all mmo's now just being single player games (heres looking at you LOTRO ROI expansion). So I would like to try a new style game that you can play with others I hope this is it cause it is so different

I'm still new but I've had a few quests that required that I interact with other players...i.e., I had to kiss 5 other players after eating garlic LOL
Plus I've used the auction house (buying and selling).
The simple answer is No since you need other players for certain things. The more complex is that yes you cna level and learn skills with out the help of other but this game is hugely community based. Players work togther often to get things done. Group work likeguilds and you cna be in multiple ones devoted to many different things. They have recently implemented parties that can go to special zones and play togther. Its hard ot explain since there are no go out and kill x amount of these quest but let me give you an example.
We have player housing in this game and where I moved my toon to had very few residents I created a neighborhood group and left notes on porchs trying to get my neighbors to get pigs,butterflies, and chickens for our specific block to make the place more like home. one chipped in and we put pigs on every porch and are continuiing outr campaign.
The fact is everything you do affects other players leave an animal outside it might get stolen. you can kill trees and plant new ones ot your liking.Basically whatever you do outside your house has an effect on the game world and other players. LIke stealing crops in the community garden watering a tree while some gets a group to help where you have to pick a tree to near nothing etc etc.
If I were you rather than asking here get in the game the community is insanely helpful and open.
