Four Tanks and a Healer: Episode 2: Of Men and Noobs

Episode 2 follows Malcom and the gang as they enter the lair of the Rat Man of Galenor.   It doesn't take long for them to realize how quickly a team made up of four tanks and a healer can fail.

This is it, guys.   If we can get enough attention on these first 2 episodes, we can make it a full weekly series.    That would be a blast and I already have a hilarious outline for the first season put together.   Now, it's all about getting it out there.   TheOneRing.net is the home of "Four Tanks".

Here she is.

    Well, let me think.

A band of griefers gank a group of normal players, steal their kill and their loot. And they are, like, heroes. And everyone cheers for them.

And then people ask me why I like ganking carebears. Look at this cartoon, look at yourself, and cry me a river.

I'm amazed that one of the 8th level tanks wanted to defect to a team he just killed.  Like why would he think that some group he just ganked would accept him into their group?  I know I just ganked you, but can I join you.  That tank is brain-dead.

Also, they aren't newbs if they got information on where everything is.  People can solo effectively with enough information on what to do and where to go, in the context of their level.  Usually people don't have this information and its a learning curve to acquire this informatino thru trial and error.

The show was still fun and entertaining, which in the bottom line, is all that matters.   Reminds you of some of the sillyness of most mmorpgs.

The game is dead not, this game is good we make it and Romania Tv give it 5 goat heads, this is good rating for game.

I love the show. Just one little piece of constructive criticism: the narrator's voice seems a little too forced. It would probably sound better if the narrator just spoke in his normal voice. Even better would be some famous Brittish actor like Malcolm McDowell or Anthony Hopkins for the narration. Malcom McDowell was in an episode of South Park as "a Brittish person."

Not to sound like a Trekkie nerd or nothing but that boss was tagged, and as soon as the taggers died it would have instantly regenerated all health, so....

I have to say these cartoons look like a lot more fun than actually playing an MMO.  I think it is because they have fun together as a group which is sadly lacking in today's MMOs.

The fact that they're giving "nods" to a few things found in EQ like the rat killing field, you have to realize that in that day and age there was no such thing as "tagging"

I know for a fact Dark Age of Camelot didn't have any of this "tagging" thing and you could kill anybody's mob and get experience for it.  It was loosely based on damage contribution and the more damage you dealt to it the more exp you got.  There are many a time that I've walked into dungeons after people that I had a feeling wouldn't be able to handle the job ahead just so that I can watch them die to a mob with only a sliver of HP and run in and finish it and claim the glory.  Someone had to do it because the run back from where ever they resurrected would have taken 20 minutes which would be enough for the monster to regen to full.

No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-

    awesome follow up.

my favorite part was when Malcolm was coming up with an idea, and repeatedly tapping the spacebar.  That was an awesome addition

Grats on one upping my trekkie nerdieness, but I bet we can do better.  Someone that's played DAOC and still plays EQ can probably top this, like rules have changed in those games or something.  "You're both wrong!" he'll say.

haha thanks!   I wondered how well that would translate.

On the whole tagging vs non-tagging, kill stealing rules, etc etc...

I mixed the games up.  This is not WoW or LOTRO or anything else.   I mixed everything from EQ to UO to WOW to LOTRO to MERIDIAN 59 (old school) in order to create a game that wasn't too hard to understand for somebody watching it via cartoon.   There is no way to include things like "tagging" without making it too talky and complex for the average viewer.

    Story first.

Nerd references second, but only after story is firmly in place.

    Hope that explains it.
