Rift: Free with 30 days
It seems that Greenmangaming (a UK online game store) are giving Rift away for free at the moment for some reason and also apears to come with 30 days free time. Make of that what you will.

Eh, asking for CC info with free trial isn't really unheard of. So it would only make sense to do it here. They want to make sure you can supply the $15 at the end of the month, or why even try?
I don't remember, I think eve actually didn't require a CC for the free trial. I started it around the time I didn't have a credit card (freshman year of HS), and I was living with my single mother. So she wasn't having any of it.
I played the 14 day trial as was fucking hooked on eve. I literally tried everything to find some form of work to pay for it while in school. I was finally able to get a job with my uncle to work an hour or two every day after school, and used that money to give my mother to play eve almost every day afer school. I bought the one year subcription plan, and saved loads of money on it. To also think I literally played the entire year. Not only that, but I played the entire next year. After that I was more casual with it and on and off, but still had my yearly sub.
Eve had 4 yearly subs from me (each year of hs lol), all because I could try their game without a credit card. So, even though the move makes sense, I think they might be loosing out on some possible money.
There are other ways to pay: Gamecards and the like. Someone not being able to pay with a credit card shouldn't matter.
If someone does the trial and doesn't like it, they would cancel anyways so not sure why that would be important.
I think it's just more of something that most companies (not just gaming ones) do. They say "Free Trial.. no purchase necessary!" to get you to give a credit card. They say "Try the game (or product) for 30 days free! If at the end of thirty days, simple cancel your subscription and you won't be billed. Act today!"
Companies do this because they know when people put things on credit cards, they stop playing or using a product/service but forget to actually cancel it. So they end up charging them automatically through the credit card and get a free month for nothing. Then the person calls up and finally cancels.
It's not really any different than what other companies do I agree, but the typical capitalist squeeze to get free money.

Grabbed a key in case any of you have trouble getting one. Let me know if you need it and i'll drop it off in a PM. Make sure you've already tried to get one though, i'd rather it goes to someone who gets told it's not available in their country than someone who cant be bothered getting it themself.
I wouldn't mind a key if anyone could get one. I'm from Sweden and got the "You have successfully registered. Please feel free to browse our store and buy games that you like!" even though I registered ^^. Been looking for a new mmo until GW2 comes out, so would be cool to try this out.

Had someone else say that in a PM but it's working fine for me. Wonder if it's 404'ing just for people outside the UK.

If you are from Australia you can download the free trial from the official Rift game site. Playing from Australia, you will want to play on the USA servers, not the European servers as the connection is much faster. Products in Europe would be for the European servers, which is probably why the site is blocked to Australia.
