I would certainly agree that is has a fair share of bugs but it also has its fair share of amazing qualities like :

    - Gorgeous graphics

    - Full PvP

    - Full Loot

    - Very interesting and indepth crafting system

    - A deap skills system

    - No levels

    - No Quests

    - Player run sandboxy gameplay

    - One of the most immersive graphical experiences on a PC.

So yes it is buggy, yes a lot of the systems in the game are half competed but it is a hell of a lot better than the vast majority of cooky cutter EQ clones such as WOW and its ilk.

In my opinion it is better than Darkfall as it has much more depth and potential.

So yes you can attack this small team with no programming skills etc but they have made one hell of a good game that just needs polish and shine to be a truely great game.

I was not feeling too good this morning.  But after I read this I had a bit of a laugh and now I feel better thanx.

That is OK Pockets - it was my opinion and one that many others agree with if you find that funny then good for you "bro"....

We can't keep giving small teams a break.

It sucks... but this is their job.

If we keep giving small dev teams a break, people will keep thinking MMORPGS that have actual DEPTH are crap.

Make a game... and either make it 1) Polished or make it 2) Cost less than games that are Polished.

This is coming from someone who is disgusted with the current same-old-song that the devs are milking dry. I have not subbed for any mmo in half a decade. I've bought box prices and joined betas and used my free month, but I've never subbed.

I totally agree.  Releasing shovelware crap 2 years too early does nothing but drive potential sandbox players from the genre, possibly forever.

We all know SV released MO several years too early because they needed money.  Everyone is playing a paid alpha/beta.  What I do not understand is, why do we let this slide in gaming.  You would never let any other business do this to you.

You would not buy a car unfinished with a promise from the builder saying do not worry keep making your monthly payments we will inish the car.

You would never  buy a suit and only get a pattern with a promise from the tailor saying do not worry pay me now and I will finish it later.

I think the reason the past few years we are getting lack luster games is, we allow them to do it to us.

    Easy...

Eventhough the game is buggy it still offers more features than most AAA mmos on the market. People pay for it because you can't get it anywhere else. If a AAA dev made an mmo like MO or DF with the polish that something like SW:TOR will bring, you can bet that there will be no or an even smaller market for Indie devs. What we need is Blizzard's Titan to be a sandbox so that their IP can bring many players into this type of game and their polish can come in as well.

Players are buying because they get more fun out of this unfinished product than they do out of the polished ones.

Don't think of it as an unfinished car. Think of it as a car that's also a boat and an airplane that needs more gas and that you need to service more often than your usual car (because it's a prototype) that's missing some features common in some cars. AND it costs just as much as your usual car.

I was really interested in this game when I heard about it, decided to give it some time, after many games like it flopping...I just couldn't get myself to try it, after hearing all the duping, broken weapons that had crazy stats, due to a messed up crafting system (from what I remember) and people being able to keep them, after it was fixed, and the charges of corruption/favortisim...

Just seemed like a big mess to avoid.  I cheer the concept, but I can't get myself to play it or support it with cash.  Maybe someone would buy it or something, but I doubt the guy would sell it, from what I have read.

That's not true at all.   Looking at the financials it would appear that the game has a single digit retention rate.. perhaps even LOW single digits.   People are buying it because of what they hope it is, then reality hits and they leave.. in droves. Some small.. very small fragment of players who buy the game seem to enjoy it enough to continue subscribing.

Releasing games in such a state does terrible damage to our ability to recruit new players to the genre.  It doesn't really matter if they are a small team or a large one... bad game is bad.

If MO were this magical car with all these features then it would be a boat that does not float, and airplane that can get off the ground for 10 seconds, and gets 3 miles to the gallon.  You are right you do need to service it far more often but you would need Onstar to call a mechanic to your loaction multiple times a day to get it to move.  And yes it does cost the same as working cars and there are older cars with the same features that are working just fine.

Actually, SV's own figures show your opinion is the tiny minority, and not many people share it at all.

Darkfall uses an engine written by the developers that works. Mortal uses a world renowned engine built by someone else and breaks it entirely - leaving a buggy mess at its very core.

So of course the implementation of Darkfall's engine is far superior to Mortal. It really is not in doubt, except perhaps to the tiny minority who share your opinion.

What I said goes for people who stay and play the game....obviouslly.
Lots of people like MO. I played it, but I never paid for it.

Well...no. The airplane, car, and boat work well enough to be useful. Since you don't think they work well enough to be useful, of course you're going to throw out some random numbers. Most games Post-WoW are amazing cars that drive well, but they are "for work use only" and are mostly on "autopilot".
