Poor manga is sick

One of the developers seems to be sick and in the hospital. Sounds like it is overwork and stress related. Get well soon manga I hate to see anyone get sick over this game.  image

Nice to see you still have a place in your heart for this game as you seem to read their forums regularly. Get better soon Manga! They really are working hard on this game, and it shows image

Of course I read the community site and even the EU forums. That way I can keep up on all that isn't in game or fixed yet. You give a thumbs up for a guy that was so over worked and under paid ended up in the hospital? Then you thought before this post I have no heart? I even have msg Amon and told him now that his schooling is over he should get away from HZ as fast as he can so he can work for a better company and make what he is really worth.

But don't be surprised if Manga never returns to the game. At least if it really was stress and overwork related I bet doctors will tell him to change his environment.

The thumbs up was for the hard work by all the people including Manga who contribute to Horizons, the get well soon was for Manga. And I never thought you didn't have a heart, I didn't think you browsed their forums keeping up with them, and having a place in your heart for horizons.

Manga apparently has some sort of bronchitis, and was in IRC the other evening.  He'll be coming back.

Flamedroids don't have hearts.  They have simple reflex arcs, which govern how they respond to stimuli.  Stripped down Pavlovian reflex.

That is what Ulairi said and now he no longer works for them. Overwork and stress can cause all kind of problems.

Ulairi quote over on VN boards.

This happens a lot. When I was working at Artifact, right before thanksgiving (whe Lyndrek was visting) I started to get sick, went home, came back and had pneumonia.

    Hopefully Mark gets healthy!

I am sure that campaigns of venom from ex-players don't help the stress level much.

If a developer can't deal with comments from both sides then they need to get out of the business. In fact listening to only the "this game is great" will never make the game better.

Biggest problem I see with HZ is they need player ideas to take anything forward. It is like there is no one with any kind of image directing the game they are responsible for.

I have already spoken directly to Manga offering him my well-wishing, he even had to be persuaded not to go into work yesterday afternoon. I want to add my voice to those who have expressed their desire for Manga to get better soon in this topic.

I think certain people should actually speak to the individual concerned before jumping on the "he's overworked and stressed out" bandwagon. It isn't my place to say what the cause is, but I certainly feel obliged to point out that those who presume without taking into consideration all the details are doing nothing more than showing a degree of ignorance.

Manga, get well soon, and when you're fit and well again I look forward to your return to the Horizons community ::::22::

Well the biggest cause of a bronchtis attack is most always stress related. If this is what he has then even the doctors would have to point this out.

Physically, the body is likely to develop a stress-related disease as a result of the stress toxins that are released. For example, chronic stress can lead to cardiovascular disease by elevating blood pressure, damaging the heart and arteries and increasing blood sugar. Respiratory conditions such as asthma and bronchitis can result from stress-triggered changes in the lungs. When stress inhibits the body’s digestive functions, diseases such as ulcers, colitis and chronic diarrhea can occur. In addition, stress contributes to inhibited growth of tissue and bone, which can lead to decalcification and osteoporosis. The immune system is also inhibited by the reduced efficiency of the white blood cells, making the body more susceptible to disease. Increased muscle tension, fatigue and headaches are additional consequences of chronic stress.

Of course we all hope he gets well soon. He needs to get away from any stressful work for awhile.

Actually got it off my doctors web site. He puts it there for reference . Has nothing to do with plagiarism. What a community HZ has all they can do is attack in one form or another. No wonder the game has such low pops. image

Well, you're the only person I ever ran into who absolutely hates a game, yet constantly peruses the forums reading about it and keeping up to date with about every facet of the games progress. Also, I was talking to someone in game who remembers you, and they said you were a huge fanboi for Horizons at one time.

Anyways I think we all hope for Manga to get well soon, sad that you are using his sickness and trying to make Horizons at fault for that too. Nice to know that you were a fanboi for Horizons at one time, kind of brings everything into perspective.

3 weeks then reality hit. The game never got better after that. Too bad manga is gone AROP and lairs seem to be on hold again.

I never ran into anyone that thinks any of the other online games aren't better than HZ. So I guess we are even.

People should go read community site, a lot of complaining going on. image

That could be a symptom of OCD.

Anyway.  Got an update on Manga.  He's doing fine now, resting at home.  He'll be returning soon enough, they say.

Get well, Manga!  We all miss you.

    Here's the official word:

Manga is slowly getting better. He came to the offices briefly on Wednesday but I sent him home. He is not to come to work until he has recovered.

When he returns, the auctions will resume.

ARoP continues to be developed. The last stage required an environment outside of existing player-known space. In his absence I have completed that work for him and so this should not further delay the testing of the ARoP.

He is not associated with Lairs. Lairs are going well. The technology continues to be tweaked, (interface mostly) but no significant changes are now needed. The art assets are now being steadily created since the technical requirements are now solidified.

Have a good weekend (get well Manga, hope to see you on Monday :-) )

    Thank you for your concern,

    David Bowman

So, not only is Manga coming back, the Dev team is making progress with their two big current projects.  Great news!

Khoal Horizons has been "making progress" since release. David has been telling players that ARoP was "almost ready" for over a year. In the first 3 months of release he told us it was already in game but no one had met the requirements of it.

Manga needed this to take a step back and hopeful get his priorities sorted. I wish him all the best and really hope it's given him the time he needs to put some perspective on what Tulga and DB are doing.

Goodluck Manga I Wish you well bro.

Oh please!  I always love reading when someone knows what another person they've never even met needs to do with their life.  Like his committment to Horizons is another illness Manga needs to get over?  I can't believe that people are using someone's illness as just another trigger for bashing the game, a long-held grudge concealed as concern and friendship in this case.
