He speaks about Blizzards new philosophy of getting players out in the world, this is very promising for me as a lover of World PvP so i'd like to see your thoughts on this.
*UPDATED*
Found another gem within Blizzcon with regards to World PvP in Mists of Pandaria
Comments
good find, thank you.
This is very much needed in WoW, and the main reason why I left it. The world simply feels dead, outside of main cities. You just stand there waiting for queues to pop. The "World" of WoW is gone as of Cataclysm. I really hope they can fix this, and world PvP is part of the solution.
As a long time subscriber (Jan 2005), this is a much needed change. MoP is looking to be the "players" xpack instead of the raiders xpack. Yes raiding will remain important, but they are also creating different ways of progressing your character at the "endgame" level. Challenge dungeons, PvE scenarios, and hell even the pokemon thing (which you can use to level a character, mind you), will all be rewarding for max level characters.
Also, blizzard is attempting to even out pvp a bit more by making resilience (used to reduce damage taken in pvp) a base stat that increases with level.
Finally, there isn't a main villain in this expansion, but rather the conflict between the Alliance and Horde is the main antagonist. It's about damn time too, ever since the events at the Wrathgate in WotLK there has been an all out war building up, and we finally get to take part in it.
Giving current subscribers a copy of D3 with a locked in sub for the year is just icing on the cake.
Was simply waiting for the Foo Fighters to come on when this gem of an interview came up. The lead quest designer also spoke about the fact that World PvP as a whole will be a huge part of Pandaria, their trying out some new things but they aren't ready to say just yet. All very exciting!
LFD and Flying mounts are currently the worst enemies to world PvP in WoW.
Believe it when I see it. World pvp is something that I had the most fun doing in wow ever... but ya, not getting excited...mostly because there's going to be other games out by then that offer that and more.
Also found a similar question from Red Shirt Guy during the Lore Q&A which i will be sure to upload Asap.
Lead quest designer ( Forgot his name ) says that they are planning on rewarding that and making World PvP compelling and interesting. I'll upload this as soon as Premiere Pro gets downloaded
What I'd like to know is how are they going to implement world pvp when they have phased almost every zone in the game? I couldn't even see people standing right next to me if we were on a different phase in that zone.
Tom is alot of hot air, they will say anything at this point, they know they lost control of there game, the ONLY fix for World PvP is the removal of Flying mounts and thats not going to happen becase that will also back fire on them.
If they want to save World pvp they need to add a PvP server, I mean no safe zones and add flying combat or remove it from thoses servers, WoW needs a server that is for the pvp crowd not the joke of the pvp servers they have now, those are nothing more then pve zone with a few danger zones.
WoW is done climbing, they are now in "lets cater to the kiddie mod to keep mom & dad paying"
Please refrain from posting in my thread if you are going to be so negative.
/sigh you sound like an angry person about something.Yes he added a couple comments that maybe were not needed, but nothing to get angry over,i mean gessh there is alot of SERIOUS issues in this world than to get angry over those few comments or not?
I am 100% positive that there is a ton of Wow pvpr's that are quite happy with no change,so would they be allowed to have a negative opinion towards MR.Chilton and YOUR thread?Or does ONLY "your" opinion count in YOUR thread? Also do i need to post the definition of "discussion"?
My opinion is that players PVP predominently to kill other players,NO other reason will come first. This is why i think Mr.Chilton is over complicating the WHY and NEED for change.I have been a pvp'r probably as long as anyone on these forums and i know for fact ,players PICK their spots, look for easy wins,so unless Mr.Chilton can make every fight an easy win, nothing will ever change in the pvp world.Since EVERY fight has a winner and loser, this is an impossible task.
The ONLY thing a developer can do to make PVP better is to put more FUN into it,so that the loser doesn't mind losing. It sounds to me like Mr.Chilton is trying to conjure up ways to LURE players into pvp, that is imo the WRONG approach as i stated FUN is the ONLY real prosperous approach.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
No sound at work... Anything concrete in that video?
What are you actually going to be doing out in the "world" at level 90 then?
I really don't expect anything new Wpvp wise aside from some sort of Tol Barad/Wintergrasp type zone that is there for Wpvp. Sure when you're leveling from 85-90 you might get some pvp oppertunities but once you've settled into level 90, I'd say most people will still be sitting in some AH town just queing for Dungeons, raids & pvp battlegrounds. Just like it is now!
yeah they should remove flying mounts (maybe for certain conflict areas).... it just avoid the fun of world pvp, plus there are zepelins and boats to travel so flying is not really needed. Or even better.... if flying mounts would stay then make full scale aerial combat with all skills available now that would be sick!! OPEN WORLD PVP !!!!
Didn't you even watch it? they aren't going for a Wintergrasp or Tol barad zone because it essentially was a battleground out in the world. Blizzard look to have plans, yes, plans at this stage but it is promising, to introduce World PvP once again that is more oganic than going to WG or TB which wasn't WPvP at all.
They are looking to get people out into the world by putting world raid bosses back into the game along side other things that haven't been spoke about yet. They said during the opening ceremony that they are tired of seeing the population in Orgrimmar and Storwmind all the time.
Here is another Video where Red Shirt Guy questions the Lore panel on World PvP in Pandaria.

Kind of like Rift with Raid Invasion Bosses. Those were a lot of fun, and I bet the world bosses that WoW started with were a lot of fun. The difference between that and the rest of the pvp options available was the organic nature of it. People would accumulate in one spot and you'd have this massive fight. Sometimes you'd work together with the other faction until the boss was down and then duke it out or you'd actively try to sabotage the other faction. I think so long as they don't ignore their core raiders and battleground people, it will definitely add something to the game.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
You got excited about nothing? I mean , they litterally said nothing with any substance, as long as a company doesn't tell me something concrete it's as if they aren't telling me anything.
"No sound at work... Anything concrete in that video?"
Nope.
Tbh if they want to really re-introduce WPVP they should first start by NOT adding new instanced stuff you get teleported to. Reduce the amount of instanced PvP options or make those the 2nd choice option (basically instead of having WPVP < BG < Arena reward wise go WPVP > Arena > BG's).
And as a bonus, remove flying mounts and replace them with 120-150% speed ground mounts or something. If you wanna fly use the flightpaths.

No i haven't heard anything of substance yet. But it shall come, watch this space.
I didn't hear much in the way of a description of how they will bring world PVP back. I think this boats a sinking and they are struggling to give us tidbits to get excited for.
Do you struggle to understand the english language? First of all they are going to bring World Raid Bosses back, that's an instant plus to World PvP. They haven't spoke about it in detail yet because, you know, this is Blizzcon? they aren't going to reveal all of their secrets just yet but as the Q&A between the Lead quest designer and Red Shirt Guy revealed is that they are working on ways to bring it back. This boat isn't sinking and they gave us PLENTY of tidbits throughout Blizzcon in other areas, like i said they just aren't going to do a Bioware and drip content on us over the course of two and a half years.
You can't compare an expansion to a new game that's been in development for years. Blizzard trickled information over years ahead of the release of vanilla WOW.
World bosses just become grief fests, not PvP. Even on PvE servers there were ways to cause an opposing faction to wipe on Kazzak.
Until they detail why we want to defend a city or region from the enemy faction, I'll be cynical. It also will be a nightmare for lopsided servers anyway. Blizzard was never able to get those things worked out in battlegrounds. What makes you think they can fix it when you aren't limited by matching the number of players.
All I'm saying is you are getting excited over bullet points. They are using these bullet points to try to get people to subscribe for a year. I'd rather hear more details myself.
The fact that no one else noticed this interview clearly points out that it hasn't worked as a ploy to get people to subscribe for a year. There is evidence here that states that they are looking at ways to bring it back into the game. I agree, we need more details but this is a step in a positive direction.
