The choices you ment just lead to more fedex quests and go kill quests and inbetween you get some vo. Don't see what is so good about it ?

Companions are pretty much useless. They just get in the way and ruin the social aspect of the game.

The game will be extremely popular and sell millions. Frosts your pumpkin doesn't it?

Not 1 bit because after 3-6 months the game will start bleeding subs like WAR and AOC. I believe those were popular ips too, especially Warhammer. I love the Star Wars ip as well as Bioware but unfortunately its gonna tank hard after a couple of months. In the history of mmos there has never been a premade ip that has captured the hearts of gamers. Everything that has done well was an original ip.

Oh you re too funny. It will bleed subs, no shit, but it will draw in alot more then the 2 you mentioned after that initial loss. It s a very good game.

By the time WoW came out, it was far from being an original IP.  It was already established and brought in it's ready-made audience.

    Commandos only.

wait, has the NDA been totally lifted now then? I have been away from things for a while.

are we allowed to all talk about our experiences in beta?

Commandos are utterly delicious.  You're going to love them.

From my understanding it is only a partial drop for the press only. Not unless that has changed in the last day or two.

    In Bioware we trust!

Wasn't the IP that killed WAR and AOC it was the execution. SWtoR is the best execution of it's type yet. It's the game LotRO should have been.

I think there are a few SWG fans that disagree with you on that statement !

Theme park type MMO not Star Wars type MMO. SWG fans, at least the more rabid ones, are beyond redemption.

In my opinion most swg fans wont like TOR

Of course they won't.  Two completely different games and two completely different styles of mmorpg.

If SWG fans were looking forward to TOR, I would worried.  That game was a mess, total garbage from the beginning.

SWG was more of an MMO, and a better game than TOR will ever be. SWTOR is a theme park, mail delivery, single player quest grinding MMO. Everything is dumbed down and repetitve trash that requires basically no skill to complete, or any thought put into it. It is honestly one of the worst MMO's I have ever played in my entire life, and has less depth to it than pretty much any MMO I have ever played.

The only preview you need of SWTOR, is it is freaking garbage. The only people that will enjoy it are the masses of brainless wannabe gamers that like everything handed to them on a silver platter. If you like single player RPG's that you have to pay a subscription fee to play, then get SWTOR.

This game is going to be done after 2 months, once everyone finishes their story quests, and sees that every other class is the same exact crap with a few new lines of dialog (but all the same quests). Like anyone in their right mind is going to play through that boring crap again. The only people that will still be around are the hardcore fans, like any game, but there is simply no way it could hold people's attention longer than that. And if it does, gaming in general needs a complete reboot, as it is turning into some of the worst stuff I have ever seen.

Stopped reading right there.  SWG was a very poor game from the very beginning.  It was full of bugs and incomplete.  NGE and CU made the game worse by trying to turn it into something a little more mainstream, but all in all...it was a crappy game any way you sliced it.  The people who actually played the game pre NGE would never admit to it for one reason only:  SWG had an exceptional community.  One of the best ever.  That was its lone redeeming feature, and a lot of the SWG fans from way back conveniently forget that it was the community, not the actual game or gameplay, that made them enjoy SWG.

Saying you won't like TOR as well as SWG is a reasonable stance to take, particularly if you aren't a fan of the themepark style of play.  But to unequivocably say that SWG is better than TOR will ever be is just ignorant, and shows a lack of understanding about what an mmorpg can be.  It also makes you come off as one of those bitter SWG fans who are butt-hurt that someone has decided to finally put a bullet in Old Yeller's head, when it should have been done years ago.

I liked SWG, and I've preordered TOR, and trust me, I know EXACTLY what I'm getting.

Some of us MMO folks don't tie ourselves to ideological restrictions.  If a game is fun, we'll like it.  Themepark, Sandbox, or whatever.

I've been subbed to Eve and LotRO and love them both.

You sir, I what I would call "enlightened."  Would be nice if there were more people like you, but alas, most people aren't that open-minded.  They like what they like, unfortunately.

When a SWG fan has THIS to say about a game... you know for a fact it's gonna be good.  Really, that's the only useful purpose a SWG fan serves.

Here is a good example of how a quest works in TOR.

Grab the quest and listen to dialogue, then go fetch or go kill something then return and listen to more dialogue. You will be doing this the entire game over and over.  Epic stuff right ? Wait, its phenomenal! :)

I think everyone understands the typical themepark quest format, no matter how cleverly hidden it might be. I'm not sure why it having the typical themepark quests would be a bad thing though, for those who like these types of games.

     Nope. There's more.

Oh you get to make choices within your dialogue but it still leads to more go fetch and go kill quests. Notice I said quests not Flashpoints.

I am waiting for a MMO that when I fire off a spell and miss my target the house next door explodes.

Barring that kinda innovation I will just have to settle for TOR for the time being.

TOR looks fun at the end of the day. It will be good enough to occupy me for at least a few weeks making the purchase worthwhile and hopefully it's fun enough to play longer term until GW2 or better yet Archage comes out. Either way it'll be worth the 60$ buy and try and a month or 2 at 15$.

Be aware that there is still and NDA in effect for beta-testers. You can say you are in beta, absolutely nothing else though.

"I am in the beta." - thats it. Nothing more. No impressions. Please make sure to abide by this rule.

    Hmm

Every MMO i have ever played  period (and I have played most of them) had you killing this or that , collect this or that or craft this or that. Rinse and repeat. Guess it all comes down to if the game is designed to do these things in a fun and entertaining manner.

Come back to your post after you do a dozen or so TOR's "bonus" objectives.

Still, this game has the major problem to do the stupid  healer / tank / DPS stuff.

THIS IS SO NOT STAR WARS.

    God dammit why can't Bioware be inventive. {mod edit}

Ever seen Palpatine (consular) HEAL SOMEONE ?? Ever seen Boba Fett throw himself in front of bullets to protect anyone ? NOPE

So why the fk ruin everything because Bioware can't think of any system that would work, something that was done perfectly for GW2 ???

The problem is there's virtually nothing left that isn't in the public domain now.

I've been in  testing of the game myself but when I express an opinion of the game,  it's impossible to say where I formed that opinion. It could had been while testing, or it could have been by reading things in public forums. I ensure I never mention my testing experience when expressing my opinion of the game.

I notice some people (the same people) keep expressing opinions of the game and then say they can't elaborate because of the NDA. If these people really are testers, which I doubt, they should realise even saying that is breaking the NDA and yet the real testers, who DO respect the NDA can't respond.

The sooner the NDA is dropped, the better for us all.

Star Wars: The Old Republic I have preordered this but I hope that I will see a push to competitive fun gaming that challenges you but does not break you with a ridiculous play schedule per week.  Seriously create longer lockouts for dungeons and raids so players are not slave driven by their guild leaders just so they can see end game content.  I also would like to see more focus on questing and the world players play in making the community want to be all over it.  WOW has killed that and has basically become a dungeon crawler.  Please don't let this happen.  As for reading much of what is in the full beta preview I don't want to see lots and lots of spoilers and so I have restrained myself at times from looking at info here and around the net.  I also want to say I have realistic expectations for this game and quite frankly I don't think they are going to do anything different than WOW and to me that is sad.  Hopefully I am wrong but I doubt it.

Money is the root of all evil.
