a lets play, from a relatively new player to mortal online, quite a nice video of a new player experiencing mortal after his first few days of play.

I don't buy genuity of this video. If you look at what I supposed is his forum account, you can see he been registered since 2009:

Everything, from the way he chats, comments or by "accident" stumbles upon a friendly player to give him quests.. nope, don't buy it.
And yet he has to look in the menu for the key to talk with the NPC.. not buying it either. He should have picked one version, either "my absolutely first experience" or "this is mortal after a few days."
"Me acting like this is my first day" just doesn't seem too believable for some reason. And I think I remember a few videos of exactly the same scheme ("Me acting like this is my first day") being released in the past.

I beleive he was an hour or to old when he first created the video, i thought maybe a few days but looking at it now he made alot of mistakes someone who had palyed the game for more than a few hours wouldnt make.
1.He seemed totally confused with the trade/buying system.
2. he was referring to weasel carcass as pelts instead of what they are commonly called.
3. taming seemed to have him a little stumped to.
In all probability he jsut read the H option and used /h chat to learn the basics. Its amazing what you can do once you actually learn how to play in 30mins to an hour before posting your video
also hes yellow, so he hasnt spent more than 4 hours ingame. at least on this character which from the looks of it is a completely confused build.
but you are right in that it looks like he once palyed beofre a lnog time ago, alot has changed since then and im assuming he had to relearn it on the go. But this i imagine would be quite useful to someone fresh to mo.

@apocaRUFF Well I heard about the game a long while back and took part in the forum discussions during development (Forum name Atremious) but I lost track of things. I did pre-purchase the game in November 2010, but got busy with university and work and forgot about it.
Two days ago when having a debate about companies listening to the customers, I brought up? Mortal Online and then remembered "Wait... I own it and haven't played it!" So, I got my subscription back, but I'm new
I am learning.

regarding the situation iwth stock, Henrik stated that he isnt particularly concerned with subs and finance currently, his intentions are to implement the features which he promised the community first, TC, AI, UI, Magery updates. My guess is he has some form of finance he can inject into the game when he needs to (shrugs)

@Death I can get on the game right now with my accounts that I have had since beta and make a yellow. It istied to the first character slot all you need to do is delete your characters. And it does nto matter how many you make as soon as your yellow goes blue red purple whatever just delete and make a new one.
If this is apocaRUFF he has been "playing again" since August I am pretty sure.

it isnt apocaruff, apocaruff asked him a question on the youtube page, the guy explained he baught the game during beta and spent some time discussing it on the forums but never palyed it until 25mins before he psoted that video. Even so regardless of if he is new or not (which he is) its still a nice video that mgiht help out some peopel new to the game.
theres 2 more parts yet, maybe his experience later on will be more to you guys liking when he encounters bugs etc but right now you cant blame him for having some fun.

Well he did a good job in video 2 at 28:08 of deleteing things because he was drowning and over encumered I guess he remembers that from beta.
Also both videos show a pretty dead population.
well he didnt actually play in beta acording to him, but he wasnt doing so good of a job, he was trying to drag the items off his inventory to drop them which doesnt work.

This game should just go away and die in the dustbins of failure. It has been out for like 2 years and is not even qualified to be a beta game, let alone a monthly pay-to-play.
hey gals n doodes, I literally JUST started playing Mortal Online like a day ago, minus a short stint as a thief in meduli during beta lol. I could never steal anything good but was still good fun. anyways I started in Fabernum last night, went afk watching movies.. woke up in the am, checked my comp relogged in, and there was a nakked dude there... taught me how to heal (guess a weasel was attacking me till i went into mercy mode). Anyways he asked if i need help, i said sure, he called some dude named Taddik who came and literally gave me quests he created for rewards he made, showed me the combat system, how to block and thrust etc. Then said, kill me X amount of weasel pelts (he was a butcher i guess) . Did it he gave me a weap. showed me around fabernum, got me some robes, some dude gave me armour randomly. was sweet.
AND!!! Fabernum was packed when i was there, so many new players running around, and some dudes named SS.. and some clan named CAOS outside, that left us alone cause Tad was training me.. a newb
so this game so far has been pretty fun... BUUTTTT do i have to buy the boxed version to sub? if so thats fucking dumb. anyways ttyl

How long did it actually take you to kill those 10 weasles though? Considering after you swing once, they become next to impossible to hit due to server sync issues, it probably took you forever.
i bleeive you can buy the game from direct2drive for cheap, around 20.00. But yea you have to buy a version of the game |(digital download) beofre you can subscribe. I would wait however until your trial runs out beofre buying otherwise you loose your trial time with that char. You also get 1 month free sub with buying the game.
keitholi-didnt you watch the video? you can clearly see him killing weasels and not really having to much trouble. But when fighting small creatures its better to thrust (longer reach) than swing at them.

well the only thing i noticed was that I had to use Thrust attack on the weasels to hit them, and I had to aim below the weasel. But so far im getting that UO vibe that I missed so much. The game is a bitch getting into without a tutor thats for sure. I recommend everyone trying this game to enter help channel and ask for one to meet you in your starter city, which idealy should be fabernum.

No you dont. Digital version is all you need and thats the only available version as far as i know. That comes from someone who bought the boxed version for more than 90 Euros and received a tin DVD box/case with an outdated and non functional DVD inside.
Now back to the thread. Honestly i watched both videos and tbh appart from some funny quotes from the helpful dude in Fabernum i didnt see anything fun. It even make me question myself wth do i keep paying for 2 accounts... the answer is simple: it became a habbit to hang arround with the wonderfull people in my guild and doesnt have anything to do with the game itself that fails in every possible lvl due to devs being either lazy either incompetends.
Hey everyone. Just want to clairify a few things. I'm the original poster of the series, and yeah, I'm a noob. I did however read the wiki about how certain things work. More over, in between episodes 2 and 3, I have a mining character I started playing which allowed me to learn quite a few things I wouldn't have otherwise (I haven't shown this guy because I don't think me sitting hitting rocks for all that time is fun to watch) I haven't played any longer than a few days up to this point.
So thats why you see a big improvement between parts 2 and 3. The combat lesson in episode 3 however, is actually real. I got used to it when I realized the combat system is sort of (but with keyboard movement not mouse) like Mount and Blade. Hope you enjoy it! More will be out.

Whether you think I'm new or not, I am doing this playthrough because I think it's fun to do.
Many of us appreciate the videos. Personally, they are almost like a time machine for me, in that watching them takes me back to when I first started playing, which is really pretty cool. The running commentary is also fun to listen to.
