Why do you guys have to post to every post I make. Here I didn't attack the game, didn't attack a user. I just made a point in how they could get more players into game.

Also even on community site there are posts about how boring crafting can get. Not like that was a surprise. They even say how there is nothing to really keep people into adventuring. I would love to see them fix the whole WA part. That was the only really great part of the game. But they need to fix the collision detection for that to really work.

I told you its just words you use that attacks the game. You might not do it deliberatley but you know every little thing about the game, you are totally up to date still with what goes on even with the devs (unless you make it up). Anyway at first when I was trying to see what the game was really like by reading throuhg the forums, I kept finding your posts on threads which judged the game..... At first I thinking this game seems crap I think I should chuck it out of my mind after reading your posts. Then I spoke to someone and talked to people who still play it and have been playing it for months and they say what an amazing game it is with a lot of potential and I tried it out and I love it. Now maybe its not your cup of tea but is mine and thousands of others!

I agree a very few people really like the game and keep holding out for it to get better.

But you have to ask self how much longer can it go on if they keep doing these monthly events to get new people and they keep failing at it. How much longer can it go on before they just give up?

They really need to connect to the ones that wanted to play the game on the box at start. They need to prove majority of the big problems are gone. Now that would pull a lot more back to game. Not free mugs thats for sure.

Ask yourself this: How much longer can you go on slamming this game before YOU just give up? Why are you still here posting JUST as much as the enthusiasts after almost 2 years? Why is this game still stuck in your craw? Why can you not let it go?

Lol I think the free mugs are just a cry for attention! Same as the other things they have pulled like the retailers campagn. You will be paid a $ for each member you get per month if you subscribe as a reseller for the game. Its another idea for them to get more people, they want to rebuild the community and probably need more money to fix their damn engine so they could implement PvP. Thats why the game is heading into boredom! The game would be amazing with PvP cause there are so many quests. They could start having the Fiends fight humans and so they are encouraged to, their races leaders will give them bonus items for killing so many humans/fiends depend what race you are of the humans. The rest of the races are neutral and just watch or can take part as well but it wont effect diplomacy. If only they could repair the game engine! And if they could copy a bit of Eve's ideas about PvP and diplomacy

Good stuff image Make sure once you get into the game you take time to get the settings just right for your computer!

The camera options while seeming insignificant can really reduce lag if you have it just right. Set the camera tension tight for sure this got rid of any lag i had. Plust the view distance about 50% or less.

Once you get it going good, the game will amaze you how good it is. It is the perfect antidote for MMORPG sameness and boredom!

Nice work.  I would expect that these numbers will continue to climb as more and more people become exposed.  Plus, I think that a lot of ppl are starting to get a bit bored by all the other "top" mmo's out there.

I have been seeing more and more new people come to the game since I started playing (about a month ago).

Me too Kevral.  I've been relearning the game since resubscribing 3+ weeks ago, and still loving the game.

It actually takes a lot of skill to play, especially compared to CoH.  I've been playing a dragon (Chuang Tzu on Chaos) -- nearly through with the level 10 quests, which takes me to level 17 adventurer, 40 k hoard (even though I have made liberal use of silver strike and gold rage).  There are definite tricks to playing your character optimally, which is kind of cool because you actually have to figure that out (unlike in other games) and it can be very subtle.

I've noticed a lot more players on both the Marketplace and Dragon chat channels.  Many questions from new / returning players.

The size of my guild has increased quite a bit in the past few weeks.  Many, many new names.  Community construction projects are a lot more entertaining these days, as are guild hunts.

Average nightly visible numbers via choas. With current populations one can assume a roughly 10 percent of the visible are the numbers invisible.

Primetime hours taken between 7PM eastern and 10 Pm eastern

    March to April 2005

    Lowest 236
    Average 256
    Highest 279

April through end of May ( the returning month option I believe)

    Lowest 269
    Average 299
    Highest 319

June to present ( see ads and contest blitz of recent and new affiliations with mmorpg.com)

    lowest 327
    Average 359
    Highest 437

Recently numbers have evened out. I would say the player drain has stopped and they are gaining. But the momentum has been lost for the time being. But as long as the total entering is greater than those cancelling thats growth even if its small.

In the end Horizons will settle into a small niche game. I just can't see the game ever going past 20K subscribers world wide. I also forsee one server hardware upgrade coming if they can afford it. Cause the current ones in NA will soon be taxed to their limits. ( these specifications were seen during chapter 1

What are the 3 sets of numbers? The second and third sets are april/may and june/present?  What is the first set?
  • D0ZeRD0ZeR Member Posts: 489

You think these numbers are good?

How you guys like the lag that is back along with the memory leak?

New key word for HZ today is, STUTTER. image

I fixed the formatting sorry had a sentence in the wrong place.

These were based on my own observations and hardly scientific. They do show a general trend upwards in the playerbase but still at the time shows low compared to other games. But at the same time the increases have stopped once again and if they follow the pattern of the past they might slip again. Cause I can see now lots of people that returned in April for the free month have since left again though some did stay but not many. So their promotions and contests have steadily attracted people back. Thats great but it at the same time does not have the staying power to keep people playing. I promise most that came back or tried horizons during the contests and promotions held in may june and july will leave as well. Why ? because the game has nothing to keep someone playing in the long term.

After having tried the flawless performing games of EQ2 and WoW it takes a lot for me to log back on into horizons and deal with that laggy memory leak ridden client. For me personally the game does not offer enough to keep me interested. BUT !!! it did back in march april and may. Starting in june my interest waned and thats what I give most new returness 3 months max for most before the same happens.

THis has been a common thread with horizons since day 1. The question then becomes what can Tulga do if anything ( without a complere client rewrite which is NOT in the plans) to stem this general trend and keep LOTS of people a PROFITABLE number of people for the long term ?

    thanks Hades.

yup -- those are the questions.  the horizons story is as exciting and addictive as the game.

Hmmm, according to this post: http://community.istaria.com/Web/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=86963

Order has 1/4 of the pop of chaos.

    so let's say; Chaos= 437 rounded up to 500, to be generous, plus 10% (50) =550

    Order, 1 quarter of Chaos= 137.

Unity (EU) has about 128, let's say 150, being generous.

    So 550+137+150= 837

How many of those recorded were playing the free trial? How many subscribers were NOT counted because they are on vacation, or taking a break?

Impossible to say. But one thing is certain, sir Bruce is WRONG. I don't believe that out of 10 k paying subscribers, only 8.37% are actually playing.

Perhaps 1000k active subs would be more accurate.

    So, income from subs= 1000 X $12.95/mth = $12950.

From this you can hazard a guess at how much money Tulga are losing each month, and how much is being invested by whatever backers they have to keep it afloat, and how long HZ will last before it gets shut down.
