Last month we expanded our Pre-Launch Guild Program with the implementation of Phase 2: Alignment, where guilds could designate other guilds as allies or adversaries. Now, as Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ moves ever-closer to launch, we are excited to announce that we have initiated the first part of Phase 3: Deployment!
Phase 3: Deployment will see any guild that meets the pre-designated criteria be transferred into the game for launch. Before we begin this process, though, we want to give all of you who are in guilds the opportunity to make sure your guild meets the following requirement for transfer:
(NOTE: We have removed the additional requirement for the guild leader to log in to the website and verify that their guild remains active and wants to be imported.)
To help clear up any confusion as to whether or not your guild is ready for deployment, we have now given each guild page a small status indicator. This indicator will show you the number of people in your guild who have pre-ordered the game, and will inform you whether or not your guild meets the criteria for deployment into the game.
Now is the time to make sure that your guild meets the criteria to be transferred into the game so visit the Guild HQ now! Make sure to secure your copy of Star Wars: The Old Republic by visiting our Pre-Order page, and then redeem your Pre-Order Code at the Code Redemption Center to ensure that your guild is among the first to explore The Old Republic!
To learn more about guilds in The Old Republic, check out the Guilds Game System page for details and visit the Guilds FAQ for answers to commonly asked questions.

That's some FREAKISHLY awesome marketing skills! You are hooked up on your new guild? Pre-order now! AND make another 3 people to preorder!
AND if your guild leader is inactive and doesn't even logs in anymore? Why, you could think that you don't need to pre-order, since your guild is inactive... But don't fear! We have removed that obstacle! No matter how stillborn the guild is, we will establish it in the game - if you will pre-order!
That's a level of power-selling you have to admire. Next month: selling snow to innuits!
Having 4 pre-ordered people in a pre-formed guild even before the game comes out is not what I would call unrealistic. I'm assuming that a lot of the people that are participating in the pre-guild program have already pre-ordered and if your guild has anywhere over 5-6 members, chances are, you already have 4 that have pre-ordered.
There are 72000 guilds. Of those, 70000 likely have 10 or less members. Now, the next number is pulled out of the sacred repository of knowledge - my backside - but I wage at least half of those guilds don't have 4 pre-orders already.
Let's say 30000 guilds need to order 2 more games on average - that's 60000 more pre-orders. Nothing to frown upon.
The game has 750,000 NA retail (ala non electronic) pre orders already. This number does not include Europe or Electronic. Seventy-two thousand guilds is easily achieveable with just those numbers. Bioware's servers are going to melt.

From what I have read on the interwebs, they are going to have large numbers per server. Way more than other MMOs. So yes they just might melt or they could get them to work via beta. It could mean a lot of zone intencing for the starter and home planets. As well as very congested questing areas. But in the long run, it should reduce the empty server syndrome with to many servers at launch.
The guild program has the potential to be a great way to set up servers and make sure players are spread out on each server. But many of the guilds have very few members. So there could be some problems. But at least they are attempting to solve a problem seen with many launches.
How many people long for that "past, simpler, and better world," I wonder, without ever recognizing the truth that perhaps it was they who were simpler and better, and not the world about them?

We got our 4 min. we have 14 people so far, most old WoW guild mates & friends from other games, I'm happy with this perguild system, we are going to make ours on a RP-PvP server, even thought we don't RP, we just feel this type of server will be more engaging, also we feel that RP-PvP servers will more then likly have more mature players as most RP players tend to be older and less likely to spam the anul game in trade chat like we saw for 6 years on WoW's reg. PvP servers, we also feel that there will be less of the elitest types on those servers as more RP players tend to play for the enjoyment and the lore then gear grinding and epeenish attitude.
Feel free to Alli or Adver. with us. http://www.swtor.com/guilds/153276/force-theory
Yea, you guys can hate all you want but our guild has people on both the light side and dark side (and I believe we're adversaries as well). Not only that but both guilds have enough people pre-ordered to be ready for deployment.
I'm not in a freakishly HUGE guild (though it has it's moments). So I can only imagine.
The main issue here is how EU servers are handled becasue there are so many eu servers that become designated as for X country.
This obviously happens just after server lists are announced and beforethe game is playable.
Now the allegence system SWTOR have helps you ally with say a Guild run by a person from your own country (or say offering an International guild membership/focus) but it isnt going to stop a huge influx after guilds that qwualified get ported onto a server.
So you create your guild, get ported in the game before/at launch and 3 months later find you are now on the "official russian server"
In terms of numbers of guilds that wont qualify for porting into game on launch, in some respects it is better they live out their guild leader fantasy outside the game rather than in it. Once they get inthe game after failing to get 3 additional members, they may re consider their ambitions. We may see niominal guilds breaking up before launch too.
