RP-PvP server... This stinks : (

"The pre-launch Guild Headquarters currently allows you to select between three different server types for your guild: PvE, PvP, and RP, which will determine your server placement during Phase 3: Deployment. During Deployment, we will be placing all eligible guilds that select 'RP' onto RP-PvE servers by default. If a guild wishes to exist on an RP-PvP server, they will need to create their guild manually on a new server once they reach their Capital World (Dromund Kaas or Coruscant) and create their guild."

So I have to rally up my team, move them all to a RP-PvP server and level to what ever level untill I get to a Capital World to make my guild instead of just having my guild premade apone creation..... I wonder why this seems to be so hard to just hotfix in before launch, we have over a month, any info on the subject?

That's a weird decision to make considering the guild alignment system.

That does sucks... and seems a bit odd... but there's probably more to it than we're aware of, and they've got a lot on their plate trying to get the game ready for lunch.

Yeah, at first there wasn't going to be any RP-PvP server, but they now are going to be adding them at launch, but because there isn't a choice for a RP-PvP server on there pre-guild creation system they are making it so you have to make the guilds in game, and most likely pay ingame credits for something that none RP-PvP server guilds get for free & apone entering, this can't be that hard to hotfix, this to me shows signs of just being lazy...

I don't know the full details of this, but would assume that all members of a guild are on that particular server because they chose that style of play. So, would they all want to switch to a different style...unlikely!

    Good point... actually makes sense.

Well considering the RP aspect, it actually makes more sense to live your journey to find a guild then just being put into one in the beginning.     Yea so what if you gotta pay, why does everyone have to cry because shit isn't equal and the same over all fronts.   "Wahhh timmy got a new toy and I got nothing..."   "Wahhh steve got a better job and I still work at Mcdonalds."    People need to get over themselves.

That deosn't seem to be why they're going this route, it seems to me they're too bogged down by other things and can't spend the time to apply their alignment system to this new server before launch. Which is understandable IMO, it just sucks for those who do plan to play on the RP-PVP server, their frustration is also understandble.

Is it that hard to form a guild in-game? Doing a /invite shouldn't be a hassle.

I dont think it's such a big deal, now you just create the guild like you've done so far in every other mmorpg. The "pre-guild system" is really nice, but like BW stated they decided to add Rp-pvp servers only recently and that is why this system is not going to support Rp-pvp servers.

Now I dont know how big job it would be to patch/recreate this system to support the new type or server, but I'd assume at this point, only few weeks till launch, they have hands so totally full on more important and practical things about the game and launch, that they simply does not wish to spend resources on a "secondary feature" like this, especially when this feature has no other purpose than to handle premade guilds at launch and after the launch the feature is useless. It's a nice feature, but I rather have everyone in BW right now to work on bugs and the game.

Well the guild that i'm in is made up of 20ish of my close gaming buddies (14 so far), we all talked it over and all agreed on playing on a RP-PvP server, the reasons even thought we don't RP ourselves is for better engagement, we got sick of the epeen & trade chat bull crap that other none RP server bring.

RP servers have a less of a risk of being consumed by immaturity & elitest.

As far as paying credits to make a guild thing, that isn't the problem, I think the main issue with us is not being able to form our guild untill we get to one of the Capital Worlds, we wanted our guild preformed like the other guilds get that are not in a RP-PvP server, might not sound like a big deal to some but to us this just sucks.

Lets hope they hotfix this issue.

Sounds like they are 'trimming the fat' to get it out the door.

My guild chose to roll on a RP-PVP server as well but I don't see thise as much of an issue. We can just all meet up at a later date and for a guild on our server of choice. This is a slight annoyance if that.

I thought of a solution to the problem, allow the guild master in "Guild Administration" to pick both PvP & RP under the "Guild Characteristics"

Is there really a big community out there for PVP RP? If so I didn't realize it was that big that they are getting thier own servers. Not trolling being legit. Kudos to you all then. Just wish we could have had a hardcore pvp server, even just one.

As has kind of been pointed out by some folks, even if you do not RP - there is often a draw to the RP-PvE and RP-PvP servers in games to escape the typical player on the normal PvE and PvP servers.  Depending on the game, they'll boot to the head people that do some of the nonsense they do on regular servers.

Instead of typing this message.... they also could have changed the selection process and added the RP-pvP option.... it would have cost just as much time as typing this note...

Most people don't even know how to use RP-PVP servers anyway.

This is very true and if games developers want to actually help RP players they need to stop booting people out of the game for conning stuff of lazy, dumb , inept or tired people, and police RP servers instead.

In anycase, it is a disgrace and somewhat telling, that they have been developing this MMORPG for years and they thought they didnt NEED RP-PVP servers in a game based on two warring factions.

Rolling on a RP server and talking "normally" destroy the game world far more than some chump learning to be more careful and do his homework before he beleives something hes told by a complete strager in a RP game.
