Yikes!

I beta'd Zentia and fell in love with it.  Played for a quite a while, got distracted by other shiny things but eventually realized that very few compared to the level of fun and creativity in Zentia.

So I returned and am so saddened by the population on the PvE server.

Are things better on the PvP server?

Is it just the low levels that are a ghost town?

Is the game dying?

Such a GREAT game.  I hate to see it fade away.

Played in beta and for a while at release.  It is an outstanding game.

No clue on population.  I haven't been back.

Never heard of it. What's it like?

It's a very trippy design, not like anything else on the market.

The best way I can describe the feel is that if Disney were to make a Fantasia movie with a chinese theme, it would look a lot like Zentia.  It's fantasy RPG but not the usual lot of Humans, Elves, etc.

Some people are put-off by the art style, finding it to be too childish.  I'm not one of them.  I think it's very classy in how it's done.

It's questing, grinding, harvesting and crafting.  Loaded with small storyline arcs.

Damn, now I have to dig out my copy image

    Grinding? :(

    Is it F2P?

  • KenFisherKenFisher Member UncommonPosts: 5,035

It is F2P with cash shop.  It's mostly questing if you like to play that way.  The quest style is a lot of go to XXX and kill XXX , but there are plenty that have storyline.

I don't recall specifics about cash shop.  I remember there were crafting tie-ins, and that crafting without the shop was pretty useless.  I'm not sure if this has changed.

One of the things I love about it is the variety of stuff to do.  Little mini-games, some instanced like the hedge mazes.   And lots of weird ones like the shrimp/crab battle.

The pet/mount system is pretty simple but challenging.  It has multi-spot mounts that are very impressive at higher levels.

The Guild zones with their regular events are pretty amazing.  Probably the best I've seen in any game.

It has its issues.  No Auction house.  Players can set up vendors in a parallel server.  You port to it to shop.  It's awkward but gets the job done.  Would prefer a standard auction house but kudos to them for trying to be different.

And while it has enough quests to get you to where you want to go they do get a bit mob-o-rific later on.  Killing dozens of mobs.  At least the mobs talk back with weird quotes and sayings as you fight them.  Some from movies, some just plain weird.  I actually enjoy the battles because of it.

Hate to use the word "charming" but it's pretty f'ing charming...

I'd play on the Inconceivable server (PVP) -- there are definitely more players there. A very fun game for being f2p.

The game's population is low, but if you find a good guild you will be alright.  People say the PvP servers have more people than the PvE servers.  This may be true but I like PvE so I play on the PvE server.
