Indeed, Cantr II is already running for almost four years and has now around 1800 registered users, of which about a 1000 are playing in English and about 600 in Polish, the others playing in several other languages like Dutch, German, Swedish, etc. Together these players play about 5500 characters in one huge virtual world.
It's text based, which leaves a lot to the imagination instead of having cool graphics (which I, personally, would prefer, but many players like it this way), but it is definitely not a boring game. It leaves an enormous amount of freedom - much more than most MMORPGs - while still creating a challenging game environment. You can play any politics, business, military operation, criminal, love affair, journalistic endeavour, etc. ... Whatever you which to play, but the challenge is doing so within the environment of all players, who might have plans seriously contradicting yours ... So it is a true MMORPG, where the challenge is dealing with fellow players, not with NPCs (which are, indeed, non-existent, except for some animals).
So why exactly are text-based games not listed?
