If money is no object [i.e. subscription fees do not bother you] then i'd say WoW. Guildwars have some cool features, but the PvE side is seriously lacking. I'd even go as far saying you can completely do all quests/missions in the GW PvE campaign in a few weeks. Then all that remains is either repeating the entire PvE campaign to unlock all the skills or PvP.

So in the end. Guildwars is all PvP , but more structured like Unreal Tournament. [As in make a team, enter arena and tourny through a series of different matches and gather up points etc]. Will probably become very competitive in the end to such an extend that it resembles Counterstrike more than WoW.

Since you -already- have  GW, just play it! I believe its probably the type of game you will want to play inbetween WoW sessions :P (assuming WoW do not build in their own arena/tournament PvP system...oh wait...)

Actually i wouldnt even try comparing the two. GW to me is more like Counterstrike/UT/Diablo/Dungeon Siege [instant action, do not require months of invested time to get somewhere, but runs the risk of becoming boring fairly soon].

Like TEMP said, if money is not an object get WOW, since you have access to it (I do not know if that will work out), I have not played WOW but I play GW. GW is a nice game but can get old after a month or two, not that WOW is much better from what I have heard. I am not impressed greatly with either community but they both have thier strong points.

Witty saying to amuse you goes here.

Get Guild Wars, play for a week, cap your level up to level 20, PVP a bit.  When you get bored, switch to WoW and see for yourself the difference in between a MMORPG and MMOG!

    ___________ ___ __ _ _ _
    Stealth - Ambush - Hemorrhage - Sinister Strike x2 - Cold Blood - Eviscerate - Vanish - Preparation - Cold Blood - Ambush - ... you're dead! :P

I agree GW is not an MMORPG. It's a fun game however. I view it as a great second game to have going because it is easy to pop in and out of for brief periods, and still have fun ... when I don't have the time to devote to my MMORPG-du-jour, or when I need a break or something, GW is very fun to have a second game.

Well if you MUST get either WoW or GW then go WoW if u are ok with paying for it.

GW is a great free game(minus box of course) but still it is not in class of many pay to play mmorpg including WoW.

But if you want another mmorpg besides this ones i can recommend a few others which IMHO are better.

I wouldn't say a week. GW is for the casual player. I've had it since launch and am still only lvl 19 and about 1/2 way through the map. I play about 10 hours a week so it keeps me occupied. I'm not saying anything negative about WoW because I have never played it, but give GW some credit. ::::02::

YEA i think ill go with both. Cause A. i all ready have GW B. My cousins have WoW but they don't play it any more and C. My cousins have GW too and its kinda more fun when i  have some one to lvl with.

WoW is a boring pointless grind game... be warned. Guild Wars I haven't played but it looks to be the same old pointless team deathmach, without any depth, such as politics, taking over structures etc... basically no reson to pvp ingame. Play CS:S for more relevant fun. So I would have to say get NEITHER.

Now i kinda wanna go back to FFix but it would suck to have to get up to a high lvl in the game so screw it.

Honestly if I had to choose between the two I'd go with WoW.

I've played Guild Wars for about a month and it's definately a casual game experience. Any person who plays at a normal MMORPG rate will go through the game pretty guick. A rather dissapointing aspect of the game is that the gameplay is a little too user friendly allowing players to pay their way through the game if they want to. (Some peeps are into that, but I like to play the game in the spirit of the way it's designed) On the plus side, the game is pretty, you can play PvP, and you can use henchman if you don't want to party with people. Seem like a lot of people have found ways to exploit the game so there are already alot of scams out there.

Wow, is alot more immersive and while fairly easy you know there are lot's of game hours head, which is not a bad thing. Albeit at a monthly charge.

I agree wuith the previous poster that I'd be interested in getting back into FFXI again, if I only had the time to spend doing it.

I would say go with WoW.  It is a good game and with the battlefields and new raids comming out it looks like a lot of fun.  I am planning to get back into it if I ever find my CD's.

Sent me an email if you want me to mail you some pizza rolls.

I'd say do both. GW is a great game to have as a "second" game, it doesn't demand that you log long hours in it to enjoy it, and it isn't a deep, rewarding game in the sense that an MMORPG is, but hey it is a fun game and great to have on the side as a break from whatever MMORPG you happen to be playing .... I don't think it's designed to be played "exclusively" the way many MMORPGs are, and you don't have the pressure to do that because you aren't paying a monthly sub, so get it and have some fun with it, but for the mainstay MMORPG go with something else, like WoW or EQ2 or Ryzom or EVE or whatever ... GW is not a game that should be a substitute for an MMORPG, but it's a pretty fun complement to one.

Then your not playing it right. Theres is other people playing you know, maybe talk to them once in a while ::::12::

I play both GW and WoW and enjoy them both, however there both good for diffrent reasons,

both are easy to level cap and then have diffrent things to do once you  cap,

If your one for PvP and some quick action get GW and play it through until you feel its time to move on.

If your one for storys and plots get WoW, but expect the class balances to be out the window and down the street, there are still a lot of unhappy players out there with there characters. <Suggests being a Tauran - Sharman FTW>

Well...I have both Guild Wars and World of Warcraft. And i personally think they both are pretty crappy..Guild Wars the most though because Guild Wars is to repetitive and boring for me, and I dont know World of Warcraft is alright game..Lots of equipment, skills..Yeah whatever..Anyway you should choose. :P I usually choose games based on graphics but id say if you compared guild wars to world of warcraft youd say guild wars, but i wouldn't say that its better then world of warcraft..image

If you want to play an MMORPG you will get WoW. GW is not an MMORPG. It is a Diablo II like game. You are only online with everybody else while you are in town. You can either get a group of up to 8 players or leave on your own, Just like in Diablo II, except Diablo II only allows a group of 4, then you leave into a game instance that only contains your group. That is why GW can be free. They are not paying huge server costs. Diablo II is also free to play after you buy the game. And, if GW does not offer a local, single player game, then Diablo II has them beat, since you can play Diablo II offline.
